וּכְסִ֖יל but a foolish ū·ḵə·sîl אָדָ֣ם man ’ā·ḏām יְבַלְּעֶֽנּוּ׃ consumes them . yə·ḇal·lə·‘en·nū Proverbs 21:21 רֹ֭דֵף He who pursues rō·ḏêp̄ צְדָקָ֣ה righteousness ṣə·ḏā·qāh וָחָ֑סֶד and loving devotion wā·ḥā·seḏ יִמְצָ֥א finds yim·ṣā חַ֝יִּ֗ים life , ḥay·yîm צְדָקָ֥ה righteousness , ṣə·ḏā·qāh וְכָבֽוֹד׃ and honor . wə·ḵā·ḇō·wḏ Proverbs 21:22 חָכָ֑ם A wise [man] ḥā·ḵām עָלָ֣ה scales ‘ā·lāh עִ֣יר the city ‘îr גִּ֭בֹּרִים of the mighty gib·bō·rîm וַ֝יֹּ֗רֶד and pulls down way·yō·reḏ עֹ֣ז the stronghold ‘ōz מִבְטֶחָֽה׃ in which they trust . miḇ·ṭe·ḥāh Proverbs 21:23 שֹׁמֵ֣ר He who guards šō·mêr פִּ֭יו his mouth pîw וּלְשׁוֹנ֑וֹ and tongue ū·lə·šō·w·nōw שֹׁמֵ֖ר keeps šō·mêr נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ his soul nap̄·šōw מִצָּר֣וֹת from distress . miṣ·ṣā·rō·wṯ Proverbs 21:24 לֵ֣ץ Mocker lêṣ שְׁמ֑וֹ is the name šə·mōw זֵ֣ד of the proud zêḏ יָ֭הִיר and arrogant man — yā·hîr ע֝וֹשֶׂ֗ה of him who acts ‘ō·w·śeh בְּעֶבְרַ֥ת with excessive bə·‘eḇ·raṯ זָדֽוֹן׃ pride . zā·ḏō·wn Proverbs 21:25 תַּאֲוַ֣ת The craving ta·’ă·waṯ עָצֵ֣ל of the slacker ‘ā·ṣêl תְּמִיתֶ֑נּוּ kills him tə·mî·ṯen·nū כִּֽי־ because kî- יָדָ֣יו his hands yā·ḏāw מֵאֲנ֖וּ refuse mê·’ă·nū לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ to work . la·‘ă·śō·wṯ Proverbs 21:26 כָּל־ All kāl- הַ֭יּוֹם day long hay·yō·wm הִתְאַוָּ֣ה he covets hiṯ·’aw·wāh תַאֲוָ֑ה more , ṯa·’ă·wāh וְצַדִּ֥יק but the righteous wə·ṣad·dîq יִ֝תֵּ֗ן give yit·tên וְלֹ֣א without wə·lō יַחְשֹֽׂךְ׃ restraint . yaḥ·śōḵ Proverbs 21:27 זֶ֣בַח The sacrifice ze·ḇaḥ רְ֭שָׁעִים of the wicked rə·šā·‘îm תּוֹעֵבָ֑ה is detestable — tō·w·‘ê·ḇāh אַ֝֗ף how much more so ’ap̄ כִּֽי־ when kî- יְבִיאֶֽנּוּ׃ brought yə·ḇî·’en·nū בְזִמָּ֥ה with ill intent ! ḇə·zim·māh Proverbs 21:28 כְּזָבִ֥ים A lying kə·zā·ḇîm עֵד־ witness ‘êḏ- יֹאבֵ֑ד will perish , yō·ḇêḏ וְאִ֥ישׁ but the man wə·’îš שׁוֹמֵעַ who listens [to truth] šômēaʿ יְדַבֵּֽר׃ will speak yə·ḏab·bêr לָנֶ֥צַח forever . lā·ne·ṣaḥ Proverbs 21:29 רָשָׁ֣ע A wicked rā·šā‘ אִ֣ישׁ man ’îš הֵעֵ֬ז hardens hê·‘êz בְּפָנָ֑יו his face , bə·p̄ā·nāw וְ֝יָשָׁ֗ר but the upright [man] wə·yā·šār ה֤וּא׀ . . . hū יָכִין makes yå̄·ḵīn דְּרָכָיו׃ his way {sure} . də·rå̄·ḵå̄w Proverbs 21:30 אֵ֣ין [There is] no ’ên חָ֭כְמָה wisdom , ḥāḵ·māh וְאֵ֣ין no wə·’ên
