Proverbs 21:11 לֵ֭ץ When a mocker lēṣ בַּעְנָשׁ־ is punished , ba‘·nāš- פֶּ֑תִי the simple pe·ṯî יֶחְכַּם־ gain wisdom ; yeḥ·kam- לְ֝חָכָ֗ם and when a wise man lə·ḥā·ḵām וּבְהַשְׂכִּ֥יל is instructed , ū·ḇə·haś·kîl יִקַּח־ he acquires yiq·qaḥ- דָּֽעַת׃ knowledge . dā·‘aṯ Proverbs 21:12 צַ֭דִּיק The Righteous One ṣad·dîq מַשְׂכִּ֣יל considers maś·kîl לְבֵ֣ית the house lə·ḇêṯ רָשָׁ֑ע of the wicked rā·šā‘ מְסַלֵּ֖ף [and] brings mə·sal·lêp̄ רְשָׁעִ֣ים the wicked rə·šā·‘îm לָרָֽע׃ to ruin . lā·rā‘ Proverbs 21:13 אֹטֵ֣ם Whoever shuts ’ō·ṭêm אָ֭זְנוֹ his ears ’ā·zə·nōw מִזַּעֲקַת־ to the cry miz·za·‘ă·qaṯ- דָּ֑ל of the poor , dāl ה֥וּא he hū גַּֽם־ too gam- יִ֝קְרָ֗א shall cry out yiq·rā וְלֹ֣א vvv wə·lō יֵעָנֶֽה׃ and receive no answer . yê·‘ā·neh Proverbs 21:14 מַתָּ֣ן A gift mat·tān בַּ֭סֵּתֶר in secret bas·sê·ṯer יִכְפֶּה־ soothes yiḵ·peh- אָ֑ף anger , ’āp̄ בַּ֝חֵ֗ק and a covert ba·ḥêq וְשֹׁ֥חַד bribe wə·šō·ḥaḏ עַזָּֽה׃ [pacifies] great ‘az·zāh חֵמָ֥ה wrath . ḥê·māh Proverbs 21:15 מִשְׁפָּ֑ט Justice miš·pāṭ עֲשׂ֣וֹת executed ‘ă·śō·wṯ שִׂמְחָ֣ה is a joy śim·ḥāh לַ֭צַּדִּיק to the righteous , laṣ·ṣad·dîq וּ֝מְחִתָּ֗ה but a terror ū·mə·ḥit·tāh לְפֹ֣עֲלֵי to the workers lə·p̄ō·‘ă·lê אָֽוֶן׃ of iniquity . ’ā·wen Proverbs 21:16 אָדָ֗ם The man ’ā·ḏām תּ֭וֹעֶה who strays tō·w·‘eh מִדֶּ֣רֶךְ from the path mid·de·reḵ הַשְׂכֵּ֑ל of understanding haś·kêl יָנֽוּחַ׃ will rest yā·nū·aḥ בִּקְהַ֖ל in the assembly biq·hal רְפָאִ֣ים of the dead . rə·p̄ā·’îm Proverbs 21:17 אֹהֵ֣ב He who loves ’ō·hêḇ שִׂמְחָ֑ה pleasure śim·ḥāh מַ֭חְסוֹר will become poor maḥ·sō·wr אִ֣ישׁ . . . ; ’îš אֹהֵ֥ב the one who loves ’ō·hêḇ יַֽיִן־ wine ya·yin- וָ֝שֶׁ֗מֶן and oil wā·še·men לֹ֣א will never lō יַעֲשִֽׁיר׃ be rich . ya·‘ă·šîr Proverbs 21:18 רָשָׁ֑ע The wicked rā·šā‘ כֹּ֣פֶר [become] a ransom kō·p̄er לַצַּדִּ֣יק for the righteous , laṣ·ṣad·dîq בּוֹגֵֽד׃ and the faithless bō·w·ḡêḏ וְתַ֖חַת for wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ יְשָׁרִ֣ים the upright . yə·šā·rîm Proverbs 21:19 ט֗וֹב Better ṭō·wḇ שֶׁ֥בֶת to live še·ḇeṯ בְּאֶֽרֶץ־ in the desert bə·’e·reṣ- מִדְבָּ֑ר . . . miḏ·bār מְדוֹנִים than with a contentious mə·ḏō·nīm וָכָֽעַס׃ and ill-tempered wā·ḵā·‘as מֵאֵ֖שֶׁת wife . mê·’ê·šeṯ Proverbs 21:20 נֶחְמָ֣ד Precious neḥ·māḏ אוֹצָ֤ר׀ treasures ’ō·w·ṣār וָ֭שֶׁמֶן and oil wā·še·men בִּנְוֵ֣ה are in the dwelling bin·wêh חָכָ֑ם of the wise , ḥā·ḵām
