עֹ֑ז than a fortified ‘ōz מִקִּרְיַת־ city , miq·qir·yaṯ- וּמְדוֹנִים and disputes ū·mə·ḏō·nīm כִּבְרִ֥יחַ are like the bars kiḇ·rî·aḥ אַרְמֽוֹן׃ of a castle . ’ar·mō·wn Proverbs 18:20 מִפְּרִ֣י From the fruit mip·pə·rî פִי־ of his mouth p̄î- אִ֭ישׁ a man’s ’îš בִּטְנ֑וֹ belly biṭ·nōw תִּשְׂבַּ֣ע is filled ; tiś·ba‘ תְּבוּאַ֖ת with the harvest tə·ḇū·’aṯ שְׂפָתָ֣יו from his lips śə·p̄ā·ṯāw יִשְׂבָּֽע׃ he is satisfied . yiś·bā‘ Proverbs 18:21 וְ֭חַיִּים Life wə·ḥay·yîm מָ֣וֶת and death mā·weṯ בְּיַד־ are in the power bə·yaḏ- לָשׁ֑וֹן of the tongue , lā·šō·wn וְ֝אֹהֲבֶ֗יהָ and those who love [it] wə·’ō·hă·ḇe·hā יֹאכַ֥ל will eat yō·ḵal פִּרְיָֽהּ׃ its fruit . pir·yāh Proverbs 18:22 מָצָ֣א He who finds mā·ṣā אִ֭שָּׁה a wife ’iš·šāh מָ֣צָא finds mā·ṣā ט֑וֹב a good thing ṭō·wḇ וַיָּ֥פֶק and obtains way·yā·p̄eq רָ֝צ֗וֹן favor rā·ṣō·wn מֵיְהוָֽה׃ from YHWH . Yah·weh Proverbs 18:23 רָ֑שׁ The poor man rāš תַּחֲנוּנִ֥ים pleads for mercy ta·ḥă·nū·nîm יְדַבֶּר־ . . . , yə·ḏab·ber- וְ֝עָשִׁ֗יר but the rich man wə·‘ā·šîr יַעֲנֶ֥ה answers ya·‘ă·neh עַזּֽוֹת׃ harshly . ‘az·zō·wṯ Proverbs 18:24 אִ֣ישׁ A man ’îš רֵ֭עִים of many companions rê·‘îm לְהִתְרֹעֵ֑עַ may come to ruin , lə·hiṯ·rō·‘ê·a‘ וְיֵ֥שׁ but there is wə·yêš אֹ֝הֵ֗ב a friend ’ō·hêḇ דָּבֵ֥ק who stays closer dā·ḇêq מֵאָֽח׃ than a brother . mê·’āḥ Proverbs 19:1 טֽוֹב־ Better ṭō·wḇ- רָ֭שׁ a poor man rāš הוֹלֵ֣ךְ who walks hō·w·lêḵ בְּתֻמּ֑וֹ with integrity bə·ṯum·mōw וְה֣וּא - wə·hū כְסִֽיל׃ than a fool ḵə·sîl שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו whose lips p̄ā·ṯāw מֵעִקֵּ֥שׁ are perverse . mê·‘iq·qêš Proverbs 19:2 גַּ֤ם Even gam נֶ֣פֶשׁ zeal ne·p̄eš בְּלֹא־ is no bə·lō- ט֑וֹב good ṭō·wḇ לֹא־ without lō- דַ֣עַת knowledge , ḏa·‘aṯ וְאָ֖ץ and he who hurries wə·’āṣ בְּרַגְלַ֣יִם his footsteps bə·raḡ·la·yim חוֹטֵֽא׃ misses the mark . ḥō·w·ṭê Proverbs 19:3 אָ֭דָם A man’s ’ā·ḏām אִוֶּ֣לֶת own folly ’iw·we·leṯ תְּסַלֵּ֣ף subverts tə·sal·lêp̄ דַּרְכּ֑וֹ his way , dar·kōw לִבּֽוֹ׃ yet his heart lib·bōw יִזְעַ֥ף rages yiz·‘ap̄ וְעַל־ against wə·‘al- יְ֝הוָ֗ה YHWH . Yah·weh Proverbs 19:4 ה֗וֹן Wealth hō·wn יֹ֭סִיף attracts yō·sîp̄ רַבִּ֑ים many rab·bîm רֵעִ֣ים friends , rê·‘îm וְ֝דָ֗ל but a poor man wə·ḏāl יִפָּרֵֽד׃ is deserted yip·pā·rêḏ מֵרֵ֥עהוּ by his friend . mē·rē·ʿ·hū
