הָעֲבֹדָֽה׃ bondage hā·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh וַתַּ֧עַל ascended wat·ta·‘al אֶל־ to ’el- הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm Exodus 2:24 אֱלֹהִ֖ים So God ’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע heard way·yiš·ma‘ נַאֲקָתָ֑ם their groaning , na·’ă·qā·ṯām אֱלֹהִים֙ and He ’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר remembered way·yiz·kōr בְּרִית֔וֹ His covenant bə·rî·ṯōw אֶת־ with ’eṯ- אַבְרָהָ֖ם Abraham , ’aḇ·rā·hām אֶת־ . . . ’eṯ- יִצְחָ֥ק Isaac , yiṣ·ḥāq וְאֶֽת־ . . . wə·’eṯ- יַעֲקֹֽב׃ and Jacob . ya·‘ă·qōḇ Exodus 2:25 אֱלֹהִ֖ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּ֥רְא saw way·yar בְּנֵ֣י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl אֱלֹהִֽים׃ס and ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיֵּ֖דַע took notice . way·yê·ḏa‘ Exodus 3:1 וּמֹשֶׁ֗ה Meanwhile, Moses ū·mō·šeh הָיָ֥ה was hā·yāh רֹעֶ֛ה shepherding rō·‘eh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צֹ֛אן the flock ṣōn חֹתְנ֖וֹ of his father-in-law ḥō·ṯə·nōw יִתְר֥וֹ Jethro , yiṯ·rōw כֹּהֵ֣ן the priest kō·hên מִדְיָ֑ן of Midian . miḏ·yān וַיִּנְהַ֤ג He led way·yin·haḡ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַצֹּאן֙ the flock haṣ·ṣōn אַחַ֣ר to the far side ’a·ḥar הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר of the wilderness ham·miḏ·bār וַיָּבֹ֛א and came way·yā·ḇō אֶל־ to ’el- חֹרֵֽבָה׃ Horeb , ḥō·rê·ḇāh הַ֥ר the mountain har הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm Exodus 3:2 מַלְאַ֨ךְ There the angel mal·’aḵ יְהֹוָ֥ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַ֠יֵּרָא appeared way·yê·rā אֵלָ֛יו to him ’ê·lāw בְּלַבַּת־ in a blazing bə·lab·baṯ- אֵ֖שׁ fire ’êš מִתּ֣וֹךְ from within mit·tō·wḵ הַסְּנֶ֑ה a bush . has·sə·neh וַיַּ֗רְא Moses saw way·yar וְהִנֵּ֤ה . . . wə·hin·nêh הַסְּנֶה֙ the bush has·sə·neh בֹּעֵ֣ר ablaze bō·‘êr בָּאֵ֔שׁ with fire , bā·’êš וְהַסְּנֶ֖ה . . . wə·has·sə·neh אֵינֶ֥נּוּ but it was not ’ê·nen·nū אֻכָּֽל׃ consumed . ’uk·kāl Exodus 3:3 מֹשֶׁ֔ה So Moses mō·šeh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר thought , way·yō·mer אָסֻֽרָה־ “ I must go over ’ā·su·rāh- נָּ֣א . . . nā וְאֶרְאֶ֔ה and see wə·’er·’eh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּ֑ה this haz·zeh הַגָּדֹ֖ל marvelous hag·gā·ḏōl הַמַּרְאֶ֥ה sight . ham·mar·’eh מַדּ֖וּעַ Why is mad·dū·a‘ הַסְּנֶֽה׃ the bush has·sə·neh לֹא־ not lō- יִבְעַ֥ר burning up ? ” yiḇ·‘ar Exodus 3:4 יְהוָ֖ה When YHWH Yah·weh וַיַּ֥רְא saw way·yar כִּ֣י that kî סָ֣ר he had gone over sār לִרְא֑וֹת to look , lir·’ō·wṯ אֱלֹהִ֜ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיִּקְרָא֩ called out way·yiq·rā אֵלָ֨יו to him ’ê·lāw מִתּ֣וֹךְ from within mit·tō·wḵ
