Exodus 2:17 הָרֹעִ֖ים And when some shepherds hā·rō·‘îm וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ came along way·yā·ḇō·’ū וַיְגָרְשׁ֑וּם and drove them away , way·ḡā·rə·šūm מֹשֶׁה֙ Moses mō·šeh וַיָּ֤קָם rose up way·yā·qām וַיּ֣וֹשִׁעָ֔ן to help them way·yō·wō·ši·‘ān וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ and watered way·yašq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- צֹאנָֽם׃ their flock . ṣō·nām Exodus 2:18 וַתָּבֹ֕אנָה When [the daughters] returned wat·tā·ḇō·nāh אֶל־ to ’el- אֲבִיהֶ֑ן their father ’ă·ḇî·hen רְעוּאֵ֖ל Reuel , rə·‘ū·’êl וַיֹּ֕אמֶר he asked them , way·yō·mer מַדּ֛וּעַ “ Why mad·dū·a‘ בֹּ֖א have you returned bō מִהַרְתֶּ֥ן so early mi·har·ten הַיּֽוֹם׃ today ? ” hay·yō·wm Exodus 2:19 מִצְרִ֔י “ An Egyptian miṣ·rî הִצִּילָ֖נוּ rescued us hiṣ·ṣî·lā·nū מִיַּ֣ד from mî·yaḏ הָרֹעִ֑ים the shepherds , ” hā·rō·‘îm וַתֹּאמַ֕רְןָ they replied . wat·tō·mar·nā אִ֣ישׁ “ . . . ’îš וְגַם־ He even wə·ḡam- דָּלֹ֤ה drew water dā·lōh דָלָה֙ . . . ḏā·lāh לָ֔נוּ for us lā·nū וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ and watered way·yašq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַצֹּֽאן׃ the flock . ” haṣ·ṣōn Exodus 2:20 וְאַיּ֑וֹ “ So where is he ? ” wə·’ay·yōw וַיֹּ֥אמֶר [their father] asked way·yō·mer אֶל־ . . . ’el- בְּנֹתָ֖יו . . . . bə·nō·ṯāw לָ֤מָּה “ Why lām·māh זֶּה֙ . . . zeh הָאִ֔ישׁ did you leave the man hā·’îš עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ן behind ? ‘ă·zaḇ·ten אֶת־ - ’eṯ- קִרְאֶ֥ן Invite qir·’en ל֖וֹ him lōw וְיֹ֥אכַל to have something to eat wə·yō·ḵal לָֽחֶם׃ . . . . ” lā·ḥem Exodus 2:21 מֹשֶׁ֖ה Moses mō·šeh וַיּ֥וֹאֶל agreed way·yō·w·’el לָשֶׁ֣בֶת to stay lā·še·ḇeṯ אֶת־ with ’eṯ- הָאִ֑ישׁ the man , hā·’îš וַיִּתֵּ֛ן and he gave way·yit·tên אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בִתּ֖וֹ his daughter ḇit·tōw צִפֹּרָ֥ה Zipporah ṣip·pō·rāh לְמֹשֶֽׁה׃ to Moses in marriage . lə·mō·šeh Exodus 2:22 וַתֵּ֣לֶד And she gave birth to wat·tê·leḏ בֵּ֔ן a son , bên וַיִּקְרָ֥א and [Moses] named him way·yiq·rā אֶת־ . . . ’eṯ- שְׁמ֖וֹ . . . šə·mōw גֵּרְשֹׁ֑ם Gershom , gê·rə·šōm כִּ֣י - kî אָמַ֔ר saying , ’ā·mar הָיִ֔יתִי “ I have become hā·yî·ṯî גֵּ֣ר a foreigner gêr נָכְרִיָּֽה׃פ in a foreign nā·ḵə·rî·yāh בְּאֶ֖רֶץ land . ” bə·’e·reṣ Exodus 2:23 וַיְהִי֩ - way·hî הָֽרַבִּ֜ים After a long hā·rab·bîm הָהֵ֗ם . . . hā·hêm בַיָּמִ֨ים time , ḇay·yā·mîm מֶ֣לֶךְ the king me·leḵ מִצְרַ֔יִם of Egypt miṣ·ra·yim וַיָּ֙מָת֙ died . way·yā·māṯ בְנֵֽי־ The Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl וַיֵּאָנְח֧וּ groaned way·yê·’ā·nə·ḥū וַיִּזְעָ֑קוּ and cried out way·yiz·‘ā·qū מִן־ under their min- הָעֲבֹדָ֖ה burden of slavery , hā·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh שַׁוְעָתָ֛ם and their cry for deliverance šaw·‘ā·ṯām מִן־ from min-
