מֹ֘שֶׁ֤ה Moses mō·šeh בְחִיר֗וֹ His chosen one ḇə·ḥî·rōw עָמַ֣ד stood ‘ā·maḏ לְפָנָ֑יו before Him lə·p̄ā·nāw בַּפֶּ֣רֶץ in the breach bap·pe·reṣ לְהָשִׁ֥יב to divert lə·hā·šîḇ חֲ֝מָת֗וֹ His wrath ḥă·mā·ṯōw מֵֽהַשְׁחִֽית׃ from destroying them . mê·haš·ḥîṯ Psalm 106:24 וַֽ֭יִּמְאֲסוּ They despised way·yim·’ă·sū חֶמְדָּ֑ה the pleasant ḥem·dāh בְּאֶ֣רֶץ land ; bə·’e·reṣ לֹֽא־ they did not lō- הֶ֝אֱמִ֗ינוּ believe he·’ĕ·mî·nū לִדְבָרֽוֹ׃ His promise . liḏ·ḇā·rōw Psalm 106:25 וַיֵּרָגְנ֥וּ They grumbled way·yê·rā·ḡə·nū בְאָהֳלֵיהֶ֑ם in their tents ḇə·’ā·ho·lê·hem לֹ֥א and did not lō שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ listen mə·‘ū בְּק֣וֹל to the voice bə·qō·wl יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH . Yah·weh Psalm 106:26 וַיִּשָּׂ֣א So He raised way·yiś·śā יָד֣וֹ His hand yā·ḏōw לָהֶ֑ם {and swore} lā·hem לְהַפִּ֥יל to cast them down lə·hap·pîl א֝וֹתָ֗ם - ’ō·w·ṯām בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ in the wilderness , bam·miḏ·bār Psalm 106:27 וּלְהַפִּ֣יל to disperse ū·lə·hap·pîl זַ֭רְעָם their offspring zar·‘ām בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם among the nations bag·gō·w·yim וּ֝לְזָרוֹתָ֗ם and scatter them ū·lə·zā·rō·w·ṯām בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃ throughout the lands . bā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ Psalm 106:28 וַ֭יִּצָּ֣מְדוּ They yoked themselves way·yiṣ·ṣā·mə·ḏū לְבַ֣עַל to lə·ḇa·‘al פְּע֑וֹר Baal of Peor pə·‘ō·wr וַ֝יֹּאכְל֗וּ and ate way·yō·ḵə·lū זִבְחֵ֥י sacrifices ziḇ·ḥê מֵתִֽים׃ offered to lifeless gods . mê·ṯîm Psalm 106:29 וַ֭יַּכְעִיסוּ So they provoked [YHWH] to anger way·yaḵ·‘î·sū בְּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶ֑ם with their deeds , bə·ma·‘al·lê·hem מַגֵּפָֽה׃ and a plague mag·gê·p̄āh וַתִּפְרָץ־ broke out wat·tip̄·rāṣ- בָּ֝֗ם among them . bām Psalm 106:30 פִּֽ֭ינְחָס But Phinehas pî·nə·ḥās וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד stood way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ וַיְפַלֵּ֑ל and intervened , way·p̄al·lêl הַמַּגֵּפָֽה׃ and the plague ham·mag·gê·p̄āh וַ֝תֵּעָצַ֗ר was restrained . wat·tê·‘ā·ṣar Psalm 106:31 וַתֵּחָ֣שֶׁב It was credited wat·tê·ḥā·šeḇ ל֭וֹ to him lōw לִצְדָקָ֑ה as righteousness liṣ·ḏā·qāh לְדֹ֥ר for endless lə·ḏōr עוֹלָֽם׃ . . . ‘ō·w·lām וָ֝דֹ֗ר generations wā·ḏōr עַד־ to come . ‘aḏ- Psalm 106:32 מֵ֥י At the waters mê מְרִיבָ֑ה of Meribah mə·rî·ḇāh וַ֭יַּקְצִיפוּ they angered way·yaq·ṣî·p̄ū עַל־ YHWH , ‘al- וַיֵּ֥רַע and trouble came way·yê·ra‘ לְ֝מֹשֶׁ֗ה to Moses lə·mō·šeh בַּעֲבוּרָֽם׃ because of them . ba·‘ă·ḇū·rām Psalm 106:33 כִּֽי־ For kî- הִמְר֥וּ they rebelled against him·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רוּח֑וֹ His Spirit , rū·ḥōw וַ֝יְבַטֵּ֗א and [Moses] spoke rashly way·ḇaṭ·ṭê בִּשְׂפָתָֽיו׃ with his lips . biś·p̄ā·ṯāw
