לִֽשְׁאָל־ by demanding liš·’āl- אֹ֥כֶל the food ’ō·ḵel לְנַפְשָֽׁם׃ they craved . lə·nap̄·šām Psalm 78:19 וַֽיְדַבְּר֗וּ They spoke way·ḏab·bə·rū בֵּֽאלֹ֫הִ֥ים against God , bê·lō·hîm אָ֭מְרוּ saying , ’ā·mə·rū הֲי֣וּכַל “ Can hă·yū·ḵal אֵ֑ל God ’êl לַעֲרֹ֥ךְ really prepare la·‘ă·rōḵ שֻׁ֝לְחָ֗ן a table lə·ḥān בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ in the wilderness ? bam·miḏ·bār Psalm 78:20 הֵ֤ן When hên הִכָּה־ He struck hik·kāh- צ֨וּר׀ the rock , ṣūr מַיִם֮ water ma·yim וַיָּז֣וּבוּ gushed out way·yā·zū·ḇū וּנְחָלִ֪ים and torrents ū·nə·ḥā·lîm יִ֫שְׁטֹ֥פוּ raged . yiš·ṭō·p̄ū י֣וּכַל But can yū·ḵal הֲגַם־ He also hă·ḡam- תֵּ֑ת give têṯ לֶ֭חֶם bread le·ḥem אִם־ or ’im- יָכִ֖ין supply yā·ḵîn לְעַמּֽוֹ׃ His people lə·‘am·mōw שְׁאֵ֣ר with meat ? ” šə·’êr Psalm 78:21 לָכֵ֤ן׀ Therefore lā·ḵên יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh שָׁמַ֥ע heard šā·ma‘ וַֽיִּתְעַבָּ֥ר and was filled with wrath ; way·yiṯ·‘ab·bār וְ֭אֵשׁ so a fire wə·’êš נִשְּׂקָ֣ה was kindled niś·śə·qāh בְיַעֲקֹ֑ב against Jacob , ḇə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ וְגַם־ and wə·ḡam- אַ֝֗ף His anger ’ap̄ עָלָ֥ה flared ‘ā·lāh בְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ against Israel , ḇə·yiś·rā·’êl Psalm 78:22 כִּ֤י because kî לֹ֣א they did not lō הֶ֭אֱמִינוּ believe he·’ĕ·mî·nū בֵּאלֹהִ֑ים God bê·lō·hîm וְלֹ֥א . . . wə·lō בָ֝טְח֗וּ or rely ḇā·ṭə·ḥū בִּֽישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃ on His salvation . bî·šū·‘ā·ṯōw Psalm 78:23 וַיְצַ֣ו Yet He commanded way·ṣaw שְׁחָקִ֣ים the clouds šə·ḥā·qîm מִמָּ֑עַל above mim·mā·‘al פָּתָֽח׃ and opened pā·ṯāḥ וְדַלְתֵ֖י the doors wə·ḏal·ṯê שָׁמַ֣יִם of the heavens . šā·ma·yim Psalm 78:24 וַיַּמְטֵ֬ר He rained down way·yam·ṭêr מָ֣ן manna mān עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם for them ‘ă·lê·hem לֶאֱכֹ֑ל to eat ; le·’ĕ·ḵōl נָ֣תַן He gave nā·ṯan לָֽמוֹ׃ them lā·mōw וּדְגַן־ grain ū·ḏə·ḡa·nō·šā- שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם from heaven . ma·yim Psalm 78:25 אִ֑ישׁ Man ’îš אָ֣כַל ate ’ā·ḵal לֶ֣חֶם the bread le·ḥem אַ֭בִּירִים of angels ; ’ab·bî·rîm שָׁלַ֖ח He sent šā·laḥ לָהֶ֣ם them lā·hem צֵידָ֬ה food ṣê·ḏāh לָשֹֽׂבַע׃ in abundance . lā·śō·ḇa‘ Psalm 78:26 יַסַּ֣ע He stirred yas·sa‘ קָ֭דִים the east wind qā·ḏîm בַּשָּׁמָ֑יִם from the heavens baš·šā·mā·yim וַיְנַהֵ֖ג and drove way·na·hêḡ תֵימָֽן׃ the south wind ṯê·mān בְּעֻזּ֣וֹ by His might . bə·‘uz·zōw Psalm 78:27 וַיַּמְטֵ֬ר He rained way·yam·ṭêr
