אֱנ֣וֹשׁ a man ’ĕ·nō·wōš כְּעֶרְכִּ֑י like myself , kə·‘er·kî אַ֝לּוּפִ֗י my companion ’al·lū·p̄î וּמְיֻדָּֽעִי׃ and close friend . ū·mə·yud·dā·‘î Psalm 55:14 אֲשֶׁ֣ר We ’ă·šer נַמְתִּ֣יק shared sweet nam·tîq ס֑וֹד fellowship sō·wḏ יַ֭חְדָּו together ; yaḥ·dāw נְהַלֵּ֥ךְ we walked nə·hal·lêḵ בְּרָֽגֶשׁ׃ with the crowd bə·rā·ḡeš בְּבֵ֥ית into the house bə·ḇêṯ אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים of God . ’ĕ·lō·hîm Psalm 55:15 יַשִּׁימָוֶת Let death seize them by surprise yaš·šī·må̄·wɛṯ עָלֵ֗ימוֹ . . . ; ʿå̄·lē·mō יֵרְד֣וּ let them go down yê·rə·ḏū שְׁא֣וֹל to Sheol šə·’ō·wl חַיִּ֑ים alive , ḥay·yîm כִּֽי־ for kî- רָע֖וֹת evil rā·‘ō·wṯ בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃ is with them bə·qir·bām בִּמְגוּרָ֣ם in their homes . bim·ḡū·rām Psalm 55:16 אֲ֭נִי But I ’ă·nî אֶקְרָ֑א call ’eq·rā אֶל־ to ’el- אֱלֹהִ֣ים God , ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַ֝יהוָ֗ה and YHWH Yah·weh יוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃ saves me . yō·wō·šî·‘ê·nî Psalm 55:17 וָבֹ֣קֶר Morning , wā·ḇō·qer וְ֭צָהֳרַיִם noon , wə·ṣā·ho·ra·yim עֶ֤רֶב and night , ‘e·reḇ וְאֶהֱמֶ֑ה I cry out wə·’e·hĕ·meh אָשִׂ֣יחָה in distress , ’ā·śî·ḥāh וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע and He hears way·yiš·ma‘ קוֹלִֽי׃ my voice . qō·w·lî Psalm 55:18 פָּ֘דָ֤ה He redeems pā·ḏāh נַ֭פְשִׁי my soul nap̄·šî בְשָׁל֣וֹם in peace ḇə·šā·lō·wm מִקֲּרָב־ from the battle miq·qă·rāḇ- לִ֑י [waged] against me , lî כִּֽי־ even though kî- בְ֝רַבִּ֗ים many ḇə·rab·bîm הָי֥וּ oppose hā·yū עִמָּדִֽי׃ me . ‘im·mā·ḏî Psalm 55:19 אֵ֨ל׀ God ’êl יִשְׁמַ֤ע׀ will hear yiš·ma‘ וְֽיַעֲנֵם֮ and humiliate them — wə·ya·‘ă·nêm וְיֹ֤שֵׁ֥ב the One enthroned wə·yō·šêḇ קֶ֗דֶם for the ages — qe·ḏem סֶ֥לָה Selah se·lāh אֲשֶׁ֤ר because ’ă·šer אֵ֣ין they do not ’ên חֲלִיפ֣וֹת change ḥă·lî·p̄ō·wṯ לָ֑מוֹ lā·mōw וְלֹ֖א and they have no wə·lō יָרְא֣וּ fear yā·rə·’ū אֱלֹהִֽים׃ of God . ’ĕ·lō·hîm Psalm 55:20 שָׁלַ֣ח My companion attacks šā·laḥ יָ֭דָיו . . . yā·ḏāw בִּשְׁלֹמָ֗יו his friends ; biš·lō·māw חִלֵּ֥ל he violates ḥil·lêl בְּרִיתֽוֹ׃ his covenant . bə·rî·ṯōw Psalm 55:21 פִּיו֮ His speech pîw חָלְק֤וּ׀ is smooth ḥā·lə·qū מַחְמָאֹ֣ת as butter , maḥ·mā·’ōṯ וּֽקֲרָב־ but war ū·qă·rāḇ- לִ֫בּ֥וֹ is in his heart . lib·bōw דְבָרָ֥יו His words ḏə·ḇā·rāw רַכּ֖וּ are softer rak·kū מִשֶּׁ֗מֶן than oil , miš·še·men וְהֵ֣מָּה yet they are wə·hêm·māh פְתִחֽוֹת׃ swords unsheathed . p̄ə·ṯi·ḥō·wṯ Psalm 55:22 הַשְׁלֵ֤ךְ Cast haš·lêḵ יְהָבְךָ֮ your burden yə·hā·ḇə·ḵā
