Psalm 42:3 דִמְעָתִ֣י My tears ḏim·‘ā·ṯî הָֽיְתָה־ have been hā·yə·ṯāh- לִּ֬י my lî לֶ֭חֶם food le·ḥem יוֹמָ֣ם [both] day yō·w·mām וָלָ֑יְלָה and night , wā·lā·yə·lāh בֶּאֱמֹ֥ר while men ask be·’ĕ·mōr אֵלַ֥י me ’ê·lay כָּל־ all day long kāl- הַ֝יּ֗וֹם . . . , hay·yō·wm אַיֵּ֥ה “ Where ’ay·yêh אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ is your God ? ” ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā Psalm 42:4 אֵ֤לֶּה These things ’êl·leh אֶזְכְּרָ֨ה׀ come to mind ’ez·kə·rāh וְאֶשְׁפְּכָ֬ה as I pour out wə·’eš·pə·ḵāh עָלַ֨י׀ . . . ‘ā·lay נַפְשִׁ֗י my soul : nap̄·šî כִּ֤י how kî אֶֽעֱבֹ֨ר׀ I walked ’e·‘ĕ·ḇōr בַּסָּךְ֮ with the multitude , bas·sāḵ אֶדַּדֵּ֗ם leading ’ed·dad·dêm חוֹגֵֽג׃ the procession ḥō·w·ḡêḡ הָמ֥וֹן . . . hā·mō·wn עַד־ to ‘aḏ- בֵּ֥ית the house bêṯ אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים of God ’ĕ·lō·hîm בְּקוֹל־ with shouts bə·qō·wl- רִנָּ֥ה of joy rin·nāh וְתוֹדָ֗ה and praise . wə·ṯō·w·ḏāh Psalm 42:5 מַה־ Why mah- תִּשְׁתּ֬וֹחֲחִ֨י׀ are you downcast , tiš·tō·w·ḥă·ḥî נַפְשִׁי֮ O my soul ? nap̄·šî וַתֶּהֱמִ֪י Why the unease wat·te·hĕ·mî עָ֫לָ֥י within me ? ‘ā·lāy הוֹחִ֣ילִי Put your hope hō·w·ḥî·lî לֵֽ֭אלֹהִים in God , lê·lō·hîm כִּי־ for kî- ע֥וֹד I will yet ‘ō·wḏ אוֹדֶ֗נּוּ praise Him ’ō·w·ḏen·nū יְשׁוּע֥וֹת for the salvation yə·šū·‘ō·wṯ פָּנָֽיו׃ of His presence . pā·nāw Psalm 42:6 אֱ O my God , ’ĕlō·hay נַפְשִׁ֪י my soul nap̄·šî תִשְׁתּ֫וֹחָ֥ח despairs ṯiš·tō·w·ḥāḥ עָלַי֮ within me . ‘ā·lay עַל־ Therefore ‘al- כֵּ֗ן . . . kên אֶ֭זְכָּרְךָ I remember You ’ez·kā·rə·ḵā מֵאֶ֣רֶץ from the land mê·’e·reṣ יַרְדֵּ֑ן of Jordan yar·dên וְ֝חֶרְמוֹנִ֗ים and the peaks of Hermon — wə·ḥer·mō·w·nîm מֵהַ֥ר [even] from Mount mê·har מִצְעָֽר׃ Mizar . miṣ·‘ār Psalm 42:7 תְּהֽוֹם־ Deep tə·hō·wm- ק֭וֹרֵא calls qō·w·rê אֶל־ to ’el- תְּה֣וֹם deep tə·hō·wm לְק֣וֹל in the roar lə·qō·wl צִנּוֹרֶ֑יךָ of Your waterfalls ; ṣin·nō·w·re·ḵā כָּֽל־ all kāl- מִשְׁבָּרֶ֥יךָ Your breakers miš·bā·re·ḵā וְ֝גַלֶּ֗יךָ and waves wə·ḡal·le·ḵā עָבָֽרוּ׃ have rolled ‘ā·ḇā·rū עָלַ֥י over me . ‘ā·lay Psalm 42:8 יְהוָ֨ה׀ YHWH Yah·weh יְצַוֶּ֬ה decrees yə·ṣaw·weh חַסְדּ֗וֹ His loving devotion ḥas·dōw יוֹמָ֤ם׀ by day , yō·w·mām וּ֭בַלַּיְלָה and at night ū·ḇal·lay·lāh שִׁירָהּ His song šī·rå̄h עִמִּ֑י is with me ‘im·mî תְּ֝פִלָּ֗ה [as] a prayer tə·p̄il·lāh לְאֵ֣ל to the God lə·’êl חַיָּֽי׃ of my life . ḥay·yāy Psalm 42:9 אוֹמְרָ֤ה׀ I say ’ō·wm·rāh לְאֵ֥ל to God lə·’êl סַלְעִי֮ my Rock , sal·‘î לָמָ֪ה “ Why lā·māh שְׁכַ֫חְתָּ֥נִי have You forgotten me ? šə·ḵaḥ·tā·nî
