סֶ֥לַע a rock , se·la‘ אֲשֻׁרָֽי׃ [and] made my footsteps ’ă·šu·rāy כּוֹנֵ֥ן firm . kō·w·nên Psalm 40:3 וַיִּתֵּ֬ן He put way·yit·tên חָדָשׁ֮ a new ḥā·ḏāš שִׁ֥יר song šîr בְּפִ֨י׀ in my mouth , bə·p̄î תְּהִלָּ֪ה a hymn of praise tə·hil·lāh לֵֽאלֹ֫הֵ֥ינוּ to our God . lê·lō·hê·nū רַבִּ֣ים Many rab·bîm יִרְא֣וּ will see yir·’ū וְיִירָ֑אוּ and fear wə·yî·rā·’ū וְ֝יִבְטְח֗וּ and put their trust wə·yiḇ·ṭə·ḥū בַּיהוָֽה׃ in YHWH . Yah·weh Psalm 40:4 אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי Blessed ’aš·rê הַגֶּ֗בֶר is the man hag·ge·ḇer אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- שָׂ֣ם has made śām יְ֭הֹוָה YHWH Yah·weh מִבְטַח֑וֹ his trust , miḇ·ṭa·ḥōw וְֽלֹא־ who has not wə·lō- פָנָ֥ה turned p̄ā·nāh אֶל־ to ’el- רְ֝הָבִ֗ים the proud , rə·hā·ḇîm וְשָׂטֵ֥י nor to those who lapse wə·śā·ṭê כָזָֽב׃ into falsehood . ḵā·zāḇ Psalm 40:5 רַבּ֤וֹת Many , rab·bō·wṯ יְהוָ֣ה O YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהַי֮ my God , ’ĕ·lō·hay נִֽפְלְאֹתֶ֥יךָ are the wonders nip̄·lə·’ō·ṯe·ḵā אַתָּ֤ה׀ You ’at·tāh עָשִׂ֨יתָ׀ have done , ‘ā·śî·ṯā וּמַחְשְׁבֹתֶ֗יךָ and the plans You have ū·maḥ·šə·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā אֵ֫לֵ֥ינוּ for us — ’ê·lê·nū אֵ֤ין׀ none ’ên עֲרֹ֬ךְ can compare ‘ă·rōḵ אֵלֶ֗יךָ to You — ’ê·le·ḵā אַגִּ֥ידָה if I proclaim ’ag·gî·ḏāh וַאֲדַבֵּ֑רָה and declare them , wa·’ă·ḏab·bê·rāh עָ֝צְמ֗וּ they are more than ‘ā·ṣə·mū מִסַּפֵּֽר׃ [I] can count . mis·sap·pêr Psalm 40:6 זֶ֤בַח Sacrifice ze·ḇaḥ וּמִנְחָ֨ה׀ and offering ū·min·ḥāh לֹֽא־ You did not lō- חָפַ֗צְתָּ desire , ḥā·p̄aṣ·tā אָ֭זְנַיִם but my ears ’ā·zə·na·yim כָּרִ֣יתָ You have opened . kā·rî·ṯā לִּ֑י lî עוֹלָ֥ה Burnt offerings ‘ō·w·lāh וַ֝חֲטָאָ֗ה and sin offerings wa·ḥă·ṭā·’āh לֹ֣א You did not lō שָׁאָֽלְתָּ׃ require . šā·’ā·lə·tā Psalm 40:7 אָ֣ז Then ’āz אָ֭מַרְתִּי I said , ’ā·mar·tî הִנֵּה־ “ Here I am , hin·nêh- בָ֑אתִי I have come — ḇā·ṯî כָּת֥וּב it is written kā·ṯūḇ עָלָֽי׃ about me ‘ā·lāy בִּמְגִלַּת־ in the scroll bim·ḡil·laṯ- סֵ֝֗פֶר . . . : sê·p̄er Psalm 40:8 חָפָ֑צְתִּי I delight ḥā·p̄ā·ṣə·tî לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת־ to do la·‘ă·śō·wṯ- רְצוֹנְךָ֣ Your will , rə·ṣō·wn·ḵā אֱלֹהַ֣י O my God ; ’ĕ·lō·hay וְ֝ת֥וֹרָתְךָ֗ Your law wə·ṯō·w·rā·ṯə·ḵā בְּת֣וֹךְ [is] within bə·ṯō·wḵ מֵעָֽי׃ my heart . ” mê·‘āy Psalm 40:9 בִּשַּׂ֤רְתִּי I proclaim biś·śar·tî צֶ֨דֶק׀ righteousness ṣe·ḏeq רָ֗ב in the great rāḇ בְּקָ֘הָ֤ל assembly ; bə·qā·hāl הִנֵּ֣ה behold , hin·nêh לֹ֣א I do not lō אֶכְלָ֑א seal ’eḵ·lā שְׂ֭פָתַי my lips , p̄ā·ṯay אַתָּ֥ה as You , ’at·tāh יְ֝הוָ֗ה O YHWH , Yah·weh יָדָֽעְתָּ׃ do know . yā·ḏā·‘ə·tā
