וְדֹרְשֵׁ֣י those who wish me wə·ḏō·rə·šê רָ֭עָתִי harm rā·‘ā·ṯî דִּבְּר֣וּ speak dib·bə·rū הַוּ֑וֹת destruction , haw·wō·wṯ יֶהְגּֽוּ׃ plotting yeh·gū וּ֝מִרְמ֗וֹת deceit ū·mir·mō·wṯ כָּל־ all kāl- הַיּ֥וֹם day long . hay·yō·wm Psalm 38:13 כְ֭חֵרֵשׁ But like a deaf man , ḵə·ḥê·rêš וַאֲנִ֣י I wa·’ă·nî לֹ֣א do not lō אֶשְׁמָ֑ע hear ; ’eš·mā‘ וּ֝כְאִלֵּ֗ם and like a mute man , ū·ḵə·’il·lêm לֹ֣א I do not lō יִפְתַּח־ open yip̄·taḥ- פִּֽיו׃ my mouth . pîw Psalm 38:14 וָאֱהִ֗י I am wā·’ĕ·hî כְּ֭אִישׁ like a man kə·’îš אֲשֶׁ֣ר who ’ă·šer לֹא־ cannot lō- שֹׁמֵ֑עַ hear , šō·mê·a‘ בְּ֝פִ֗יו whose mouth bə·p̄îw תּוֹכָחֽוֹת׃ offers no reply tō·w·ḵā·ḥō·wṯ וְאֵ֥ין . . . . wə·’ên Psalm 38:15 כִּֽי־ kî- הוֹחָ֑לְתִּי I wait hō·w·ḥā·lə·tî לְךָ֣ for You , lə·ḵā יְהוָ֣ה O YHWH ; Yah·weh אַתָּ֥ה You ’at·tāh תַ֝עֲנֶ֗ה will answer , ṯa·‘ă·neh אֲדֹנָ֥י O Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy אֱלֹהָֽי׃ my God . ’ĕ·lō·hāy Psalm 38:16 כִּֽי־ For kî- אָ֭מַרְתִּי I said , ’ā·mar·tî פֶּן־ “ Let them not pen- יִשְׂמְחוּ־ gloat yiś·mə·ḥū- לִ֑י over me — lî הִגְדִּֽילוּ׃ those who taunt hiḡ·dî·lū עָלַ֥י me ‘ā·lay רַ֝גְלִ֗י when my foot raḡ·lî בְּמ֥וֹט slips . ” bə·mō·wṭ Psalm 38:17 כִּֽי־ For kî- אֲ֭נִי I ’ă·nî נָכ֑וֹן am ready nā·ḵō·wn לְצֶ֣לַע to fall , lə·ṣe·la‘ וּמַכְאוֹבִ֖י and my pain ū·maḵ·’ō·w·ḇî תָמִֽיד׃ is ever ṯā·mîḏ נֶגְדִּ֣י with me . neḡ·dî Psalm 38:18 כִּֽי־ Yes , kî- אַגִּ֑יד I confess ’ag·gîḏ עֲוֺנִ֥י my iniquity ; ‘ă·wō·nî אֶ֝דְאַ֗ג I am troubled ’eḏ·’aḡ מֵֽחַטָּאתִֽי׃ by my sin . mê·ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯî Psalm 38:19 וְֽ֭אֹיְבַי Many are my enemies wə·’ō·yə·ḇay חַיִּ֣ים without cause ḥay·yîm עָצֵ֑מוּ . . . , ‘ā·ṣê·mū וְרַבּ֖וּ and many wə·rab·bū שֹׂנְאַ֣י hate me śō·nə·’ay שָֽׁקֶר׃ without reason . šā·qer Psalm 38:20 וּמְשַׁלְּמֵ֣י Those who repay ū·mə·šal·lə·mê טוֹבָ֑ה my good ṭō·w·ḇāh תַּ֣חַת with ta·ḥaṯ רָ֭עָה evil rā·‘āh יִ֝שְׂטְנ֗וּנִי attack me yiś·ṭə·nū·nî תַּ֣חַת for ta·ḥaṯ רְדוֹפִי pursuing rə·ḏō·p̄ī טֽוֹב׃ the good . ṭō·wḇ Psalm 38:21 אַל־ Do not ’al- תַּֽעַזְבֵ֥נִי forsake me , ta·‘az·ḇê·nî יְהוָ֑ה O YHWH ; Yah·weh אַל־ be not ’al- תִּרְחַ֥ק far tir·ḥaq מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ from me , mim·men·nî
