מֵעוֹלָ֖ם of old , mê·‘ō·w·lām אַנְשֵׁ֥י men ’an·šê הַשֵּֽׁם׃פ of renown . haš·šêm Genesis 6:5 יְהוָ֔ה Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיַּ֣רְא saw way·yar כִּ֥י that kî רָעַ֥ת the wickedness rā·‘aṯ הָאָדָ֖ם of man hā·’ā·ḏām רַבָּ֛ה [was] great rab·bāh בָּאָ֑רֶץ upon the earth , bā·’ā·reṣ וְכָל־ and [that] every wə·ḵāl יֵ֙צֶר֙ inclination yê·ṣer מַחְשְׁבֹ֣ת of the thoughts maḥ·šə·ḇōṯ לִבּ֔וֹ of his heart lib·bōw רַ֥ק [was] altogether raq רַ֖ע evil ra‘ כָּל־ all kāl- הַיּֽוֹם׃ the time . hay·yō·wm Genesis 6:6 יְהוָ֔ה And YHWH Yah·weh וַיִּנָּ֣חֶם regretted way·yin·nā·ḥem כִּֽי־ that kî- עָשָׂ֥ה He had made ‘ā·śāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָֽאָדָ֖ם man hā·’ā·ḏām בָּאָ֑רֶץ on the earth , bā·’ā·reṣ וַיִּתְעַצֵּ֖ב and He was grieved way·yiṯ·‘aṣ·ṣêḇ אֶל־ in ’el- לִבּֽוֹ׃ His heart . lib·bōw Genesis 6:7 יְהוָ֗ה So YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said , way·yō·mer אֶמְחֶ֨ה “ I will blot out ’em·ḥeh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָדָ֤ם man , hā·’ā·ḏām אֲשֶׁר־ whom ’ă·šer- בָּרָ֙אתִי֙ I have created , bā·rā·ṯî מֵעַל֙ from mê·‘al פְּנֵ֣י the face pə·nê הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה of the earth — hā·’ă·ḏā·māh מֵֽאָדָם֙ every man mê·’ā·ḏām עַד־ - ‘aḏ- עַד־ and ‘aḏ- בְּהֵמָ֔ה beast bə·hê·māh וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- רֶ֖מֶשׂ crawling creature re·meś ע֣וֹף and bird ‘ō·wp̄ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם of the air — haš·šā·mā·yim כִּ֥י for kî נִחַ֖מְתִּי I am grieved ni·ḥam·tî כִּ֥י that kî עֲשִׂיתִֽם׃ I have made them . ” ‘ă·śî·ṯim Genesis 6:8 וְנֹ֕חַ Noah, however, wə·nō·aḥ מָ֥צָא found mā·ṣā חֵ֖ן favor ḥên בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the eyes bə·‘ê·nê יְהוָֽה׃פ of YHWH . Yah·weh Genesis 6:9 אֵ֚לֶּה This [is] ’êl·leh תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת the account tō·wl·ḏōṯ נֹ֔חַ of Noah . nō·aḥ נֹ֗חַ Noah nō·aḥ אִ֥ישׁ . . . ’îš הָיָ֖ה was hā·yāh צַדִּ֛יק a righteous man , ṣad·dîq תָּמִ֥ים blameless tā·mîm בְּדֹֽרֹתָ֑יו in his generation ; bə·ḏō·rō·ṯāw נֹֽחַ׃ Noah nō·aḥ הִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־ walked hiṯ·hal·leḵ- אֶת־ with ’eṯ- הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm Genesis 6:10 אֶת־ And ’eṯ- נֹ֖חַ Noah nō·aḥ וַיּ֥וֹלֶד had way·yō·w·leḏ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה three šə·lō·šāh בָנִ֑ים sons : ḇā·nîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שֵׁ֖ם Shem , šêm וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- חָ֥ם Ham , ḥām יָֽפֶת׃ and Japheth . yā·p̄eṯ Genesis 6:11 הָאָ֖רֶץ Now the earth hā·’ā·reṣ
