פַרְעֹֽה׃ Pharaoh . p̄ar·‘ōh Genesis 47:3 מַה־ “ What mah- מַּעֲשֵׂיכֶ֑ם is your occupation ? ” ma·‘ă·śê·ḵem פַּרְעֹ֛ה Pharaoh par·‘ōh וַיֹּ֧אמֶר asked way·yō·mer אֶחָ֖יו [Joseph’s] brothers . ’e·ḥāw עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ “ Your servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā רֹעֵ֥ה are shepherds rō·‘êh צֹאן֙ . . . , ” ṣōn וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ they replied way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ . . . ’el- אֶל־ . . . ’el- פַּרְעֹ֗ה . . . , par·‘ōh גַּם־ “ both gam- אֲנַ֖חְנוּ we ’ă·naḥ·nū גַּם־ and gam- אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ our fathers . ” ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū Genesis 47:4 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ Then they said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- פַּרְעֹ֗ה Pharaoh , par·‘ōh בָּאנוּ֒ “ We have come bā·nū בָּאָרֶץ֮ to live in the land bā·’ā·reṣ לָג֣וּר for a time , lā·ḡūr כִּי־ because kî- אֵ֣ין there is no ’ên מִרְעֶ֗ה pasture mir·‘eh לַצֹּאן֙ for the flocks laṣ·ṣōn לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ of your servants , la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer כִּֽי־ since kî- הָרָעָ֖ב the famine hā·rā·‘āḇ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ כְּנָ֑עַן of Canaan kə·nā·‘an כָבֵ֥ד has been severe . ḵā·ḇêḏ וְעַתָּ֛ה So now , wə·‘at·tāh נָ֥א please nā עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ allow your servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā יֵֽשְׁבוּ־ to settle yê·šə·ḇū- בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃ of Goshen . ” gō·šen Genesis 47:5 פַּרְעֹ֔ה Pharaoh par·‘ōh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- יוֹסֵ֖ף Joseph , yō·w·sêp̄ לֵאמֹ֑ר . . . lê·mōr אָבִ֥יךָ “ Now that your father ’ā·ḇî·ḵā וְאַחֶ֖יךָ and brothers wə·’a·ḥe·ḵā בָּ֥אוּ have come bā·’ū אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ to you , ’ê·le·ḵā Genesis 47:6 אֶ֤רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ of Egypt miṣ·ra·yim לְפָנֶ֣יךָ is before you ; lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā הִ֔וא . . . hî הוֹשֵׁ֥ב settle hō·wō·šêḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אָבִ֖יךָ your father ’ā·ḇî·ḵā וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- אַחֶ֑יךָ and brothers ’a·ḥe·ḵā בְּמֵיטַ֣ב in the best bə·mê·ṭaḇ הָאָ֔רֶץ part of the land . hā·’ā·reṣ יֵשְׁבוּ֙ They may dwell yê·šə·ḇū בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land bə·’e·reṣ גֹּ֔שֶׁן of Goshen . gō·šen וְאִם־ And if wə·’im- יָדַ֗עְתָּ you know of yā·ḏa‘·tā וְיֶשׁ־ . . . wə·yeš- בָּם֙ bām חַ֔יִל any talented ḥa·yil אַנְשֵׁי־ men among them , ’an·šê- וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ם put them wə·śam·tām שָׂרֵ֥י in charge of śā·rê מִקְנֶ֖ה my own livestock miq·neh עַל־ . . . ‘al- אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- לִֽי׃ . ” lî Genesis 47:7 יוֹסֵף֙ Then Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיָּבֵ֤א brought in way·yā·ḇê אָבִ֔יו his father ’ā·ḇîw יַֽעֲקֹ֣ב Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיַּֽעֲמִדֵ֖הוּ and presented him way·ya·‘ă·mi·ḏê·hū לִפְנֵ֣י before lip̄·nê פַרְעֹ֑ה Pharaoh , p̄ar·‘ōh יַעֲקֹ֖ב and Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ-
