לִגְדוּדָ֑יו Can His troops liḡ·ḏū·ḏāw מִ֭סְפָּר be numbered ? mis·pār וְעַל־ On wə·‘al- מִ֝֗י whom mî אוֹרֵֽהוּ׃ does His light ’ō·w·rê·hū לֹא־ not lō- יָק֥וּם rise ? yā·qūm Job 25:4 וּמַה־ How ū·mah- אֱנ֣וֹשׁ then can a man ’ĕ·nō·wōš יִּצְדַּ֣ק be just yiṣ·daq עִם־ before ‘im- אֵ֑ל God ? ’êl וּמַה־ How ū·mah- יְל֣וּד can one born yə·lūḏ אִשָּֽׁה׃ of woman ’iš·šāh יִּ֝זְכֶּ֗ה be pure ? yiz·keh Job 25:5 הֵ֣ן If hên עַד־ even ‘aḏ- יָ֭רֵחַ the moon yā·rê·aḥ וְלֹ֣א does not wə·lō יַאֲהִ֑יל shine , ya·’ă·hîl וְ֝כוֹכָבִ֗ים and the stars wə·ḵō·w·ḵā·ḇîm לֹא־ are not lō- זַכּ֥וּ pure zak·kū בְעֵינָֽיו׃ in His sight , ḇə·‘ê·nāw Job 25:6 אַ֭ף how much less ’ap̄ כִּֽי־ . . . kî- אֱנ֣וֹשׁ man , ’ĕ·nō·wōš רִמָּ֑ה who is but a maggot , rim·māh וּבֶן־ and the son ū·ḇen- אָ֝דָ֗ם of man , ’ā·ḏām תּוֹלֵעָֽה׃פ who is but a worm ! ” tō·w·lê·‘āh Job 26:1 אִיּ֗וֹב Then Job ’î·yō·wḇ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ . . . way·yō·mar וַיַּ֥עַן answered : way·ya·‘an Job 26:2 מֶה־ “ How meh- עָזַ֥רְתָּ you have helped ‘ā·zar·tā לְלֹא־ the powerless lə·lō- כֹ֑חַ . . . ḵō·aḥ ה֝וֹשַׁ֗עְתָּ [and] saved hō·wō·ša‘·tā זְר֣וֹעַ the arm zə·rō·w·a‘ לֹא־ that is feeble lō- עֹֽז׃ . . . ! ‘ōz Job 26:3 מַה־ How mah- יָּ֭עַצְתָּ you have counseled yā·‘aṣ·tā לְלֹ֣א the unwise lə·lō חָכְמָ֑ה . . . ḥāḵ·māh הוֹדָֽעְתָּ׃ [and] provided hō·w·ḏā·‘ə·tā לָרֹ֥ב fully sound lā·rōḇ וְ֝תוּשִׁיָּ֗ה insight ! wə·ṯū·šî·yāh Job 26:4 אֶת־ To ’eṯ- מִ֭י whom mî הִגַּ֣דְתָּ have you uttered hig·gaḏ·tā מִלִּ֑ין these words ? mil·lîn מִ֝י And whose mî וְנִשְׁמַת־ spirit wə·niš·maṯ- יָצְאָ֥ה spoke yā·ṣə·’āh מִמֶּֽךָּ׃ through you ? mim·me·kā Job 26:5 הָרְפָאִ֥ים The dead hā·rə·p̄ā·’îm יְחוֹלָ֑לוּ tremble — yə·ḥō·w·lā·lū מִתַּ֥חַת those beneath mit·ta·ḥaṯ מַ֝֗יִם the waters ma·yim וְשֹׁכְנֵיהֶֽם׃ and those who dwell in them . wə·šō·ḵə·nê·hem Job 26:6 שְׁא֣וֹל Sheol šə·’ō·wl עָר֣וֹם is naked ‘ā·rō·wm נֶגְדּ֑וֹ before [God] , neḡ·dōw לָֽאֲבַדּֽוֹן׃ and Abaddon lā·’ă·ḇad·dō·wn וְאֵ֥ין has no wə·’ên כְּ֝ס֗וּת covering . kə·sūṯ Job 26:7 נֹטֶ֣ה He stretches out nō·ṭeh
