נָ֣שְׂאוּ They carry nā·śə·’ū עֹֽמֶר׃ the sheaves , ‘ō·mer וּ֝רְעֵבִ֗ים but still go hungry . ū·rə·‘ê·ḇîm Job 24:11 יַצְהִ֑ירוּ They crush olives yaṣ·hî·rū בֵּין־ within bên- שׁוּרֹתָ֥ם their walls ; šū·rō·ṯām דָּ֝רְכ֗וּ they tread dā·rə·ḵū יְקָבִ֥ים the winepresses , yə·qā·ḇîm וַיִּצְמָֽאוּ׃ but go thirsty . way·yiṣ·mā·’ū Job 24:12 מֵ֘עִ֤יר From the city , mê·‘îr מְתִ֨ים׀ men mə·ṯîm יִנְאָ֗קוּ groan , yin·’ā·qū וְנֶֽפֶשׁ־ and the souls wə·ne·p̄eš- חֲלָלִ֥ים of the wounded ḥă·lā·lîm תְּשַׁוֵּ֑עַ cry out , tə·šaw·wê·a‘ וֶ֝אֱל֗וֹהַּ yet God we·’ĕ·lō·w·ah יָשִׂ֥ים charges yā·śîm לֹא־ no one lō- תִּפְלָֽה׃ with wrongdoing . tip̄·lāh Job 24:13 הֵ֤מָּה׀ Then there hêm·māh הָיוּ֮ are hā·yū בְּֽמֹרְדֵ֫י־ those who rebel bə·mō·rə·ḏê- א֥וֹר against the light , ’ō·wr לֹֽא־ not lō- הִכִּ֥ירוּ knowing hik·kî·rū דְרָכָ֑יו its ways ḏə·rā·ḵāw וְלֹ֥א . . . wə·lō יָ֝שְׁב֗וּ or staying yā·šə·ḇū בִּנְתִיבֹתָֽיו׃ on its paths . bin·ṯî·ḇō·ṯāw Job 24:14 לָא֡וֹר When daylight [is gone] , lā·’ō·wr רוֹצֵ֗חַ the murderer rō·w·ṣê·aḥ יָ֘ק֤וּם rises yā·qūm יִֽקְטָל־ to kill yiq·ṭāl- עָנִ֥י the poor ‘ā·nî וְאֶבְי֑וֹן and needy ; wə·’eḇ·yō·wn וּ֝בַלַּ֗יְלָה in the night ū·ḇal·lay·lāh יְהִ֣י he is yə·hî כַגַּנָּֽב׃ like a thief . ḵag·gan·nāḇ Job 24:15 וְעֵ֤ין The eye wə·‘ên נֹאֵ֨ף׀ of the adulterer nō·’êp̄ שָׁ֤מְרָֽה watches šā·mə·rāh נֶ֣שֶׁף for twilight . ne·šep̄ לֵ֭אמֹר Thinking , lê·mōr לֹא־ ‘ No lō- עָ֑יִן eye ‘ā·yin תְשׁוּרֵ֣נִי will see me , ’ ṯə·šū·rê·nî וְסֵ֖תֶר he covers wə·sê·ṯer יָשִֽׂים׃ . . . yā·śîm פָּנִ֣ים his face . pā·nîm Job 24:16 בַּחֹ֗שֶׁךְ In the dark ba·ḥō·šeḵ חָתַ֥ר they dig through ḥā·ṯar בָּ֫תִּ֥ים houses ; bāt·tîm יוֹמָ֥ם by day yō·w·mām חִתְּמוּ־ they shut themselves in ḥit·tə·mū- לָ֗מוֹ , lā·mōw לֹא־ never lō- יָ֥דְעוּ to experience yā·ḏə·‘ū אֽוֹר׃ the light . ’ō·wr Job 24:17 כִּ֤י For kî לָ֣מוֹ to them , lā·mōw צַלְמָ֑וֶת deep darkness ṣal·mā·weṯ יַחְדָּ֨ו׀ is their yaḥ·dāw בֹּ֣קֶר morning ; bō·qer כִּֽי־ surely kî- יַ֝כִּ֗יר they are friends with yak·kîr בַּלְה֥וֹת the terrors bal·hō·wṯ צַלְמָֽוֶת׃ of darkness ! ṣal·mā·weṯ Job 24:18 ה֤וּא׀ They hū קַֽל־ are but foam qal- עַל־ on ‘al- פְּנֵי־ the surface pə·nê- מַ֗יִם of the water ; ma·yim חֶלְקָתָ֣ם their portion ḥel·qā·ṯām בָּאָ֑רֶץ of the land bā·’ā·reṣ תְּקֻלַּ֣ל is cursed , tə·qul·lal לֹֽא־ so that no one lō-
