Job 9:17 אֲשֶׁר־ For ’ă·šer- יְשׁוּפֵ֑נִי He would crush me yə·šū·p̄ê·nî בִּשְׂעָרָ֥ה with a tempest biś·‘ā·rāh וְהִרְבָּ֖ה and multiply wə·hir·bāh פְצָעַ֣י my wounds p̄ə·ṣā·‘ay חִנָּֽם׃ without cause . ḥin·nām Job 9:18 לֹֽא־ He does not lō- יִ֭תְּנֵנִי let me yit·tə·nê·nî הָשֵׁ֣ב catch hā·šêḇ רוּחִ֑י my breath , rū·ḥî כִּ֥י but kî יַ֝שְׂבִּעַ֗נִי overwhelms me yaś·bi·‘a·nî מַמְּרֹרִֽים׃ with bitterness . mam·mə·rō·rîm Job 9:19 אִם־ If ’im- לְכֹ֣חַ it is a matter of strength , lə·ḵō·aḥ הִנֵּ֑ה He is indeed hin·nêh אַמִּ֣יץ mighty ! ’am·mîṣ וְאִם־ If wə·’im- לְ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט it is a matter of justice , lə·miš·pāṭ מִ֣י who mî יוֹעִידֵֽנִי׃ can summon Him ? yō·w·‘î·ḏê·nî Job 9:20 אִם־ Even if ’im- אֶ֭צְדָּק I were righteous , ’eṣ·dāq פִּ֣י my mouth pî יַרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי would condemn me ; yar·šî·‘ê·nî אָ֝֗נִי if I ’ā·nî תָּֽם־ were blameless , tām- וַֽיַּעְקְשֵֽׁנִי׃ it would declare me guilty . way·ya‘·qə·šê·nî Job 9:21 אָ֭נִי Though I ’ā·nî תָּֽם־ am blameless , tām- לֹֽא־ I have no lō- אֵדַ֥ע concern ’ê·ḏa‘ נַפְשִׁ֗י for myself ; nap̄·šî אֶמְאַ֥ס I despise ’em·’as חַיָּֽי׃ my own life . ḥay·yāy Job 9:22 הִ֥יא It hî אַחַ֗ת is all the same , ’a·ḥaṯ עַל־ and so ‘al- כֵּ֥ן . . . kên אָמַ֑רְתִּי I say , ’ā·mar·tî ה֣וּא ‘ He hū מְכַלֶּֽה׃ destroys mə·ḵal·leh תָּ֥ם both the blameless tām וְ֝רָשָׁ֗ע and the wicked . ’ wə·rā·šā‘ Job 9:23 אִם־ When ’i·mō·šō- שׁ֭וֹט the scourge wṭ פִּתְאֹ֑ם brings sudden piṯ·’ōm יָמִ֣ית death , yā·mîṯ יִלְעָֽג׃ He mocks yil·‘āḡ לְמַסַּ֖ת the despair lə·mas·saṯ נְקִיִּ֣ם of the innocent . nə·qî·yim Job 9:24 אֶ֤רֶץ׀ The earth ’e·reṣ נִתְּנָ֬ה is given nit·tə·nāh בְֽיַד־ into the hand ḇə·yaḏ- רָשָׁ֗ע of the wicked ; rā·šā‘ פְּנֵֽי־ He blindfolds pə·nê- יְכַסֶּ֑ה . . . yə·ḵas·seh שֹׁפְטֶ֥יהָ its judges . šō·p̄ə·ṭe·hā אִם־ If ’im- לֹ֖א it is not [He] , lō אֵפ֣וֹא then ’ê·p̄ō·w מִי־ who mî- הֽוּא׃ [is] it ? hū Job 9:25 וְיָמַ֣י My days wə·yā·may קַ֭לּוּ are swifter qal·lū מִנִּי־ than min·nî- רָ֑ץ a runner ; rāṣ בָּֽ֝רְח֗וּ they flee bā·rə·ḥū לֹא־ without lō- רָא֥וּ seeing rā·’ū טוֹבָֽה׃ good . ṭō·w·ḇāh Job 9:26 חָ֭לְפוּ They sweep by ḥā·lə·p̄ū עִם־ like ‘im-
