י֭וֹרוּךָ teach you yō·w·rū·ḵā יֹ֣אמְרוּ and tell yō·mə·rū לָ֑ךְ you , lāḵ יוֹצִ֥אוּ and speak yō·w·ṣi·’ū מִלִּֽים׃ . . . mil·lîm וּ֝מִלִּבָּ֗ם from their understanding ? ū·mil·lib·bām Job 8:11 גֹּ֭מֶא Does papyrus gō·me הֲיִֽגְאֶה־ grow hă·yiḡ·’eh- בְּלֹ֣א where there is no bə·lō בִצָּ֑ה marsh ? ḇiṣ·ṣāh אָ֥חוּ Do reeds ’ā·ḥū יִשְׂגֶּה־ flourish yiś·geh- בְלִי־ without ḇə·lî- מָֽיִם׃ water ? mā·yim Job 8:12 עֹדֶ֣נּוּ While ‘ō·ḏen·nū בְ֭אִבּוֹ the shoots ḇə·’ib·bōw לֹ֣א are still uncut lō יִקָּטֵ֑ף . . . , yiq·qā·ṭêp̄ יִיבָֽשׁ׃ they dry up yî·ḇāš וְלִפְנֵ֖י quicker than wə·lip̄·nê כָל־ vvv ḵāl חָצִ֣יר grass . ḥā·ṣîr Job 8:13 כֵּ֗ן Such kên אָ֭רְחוֹת is the destiny ’ā·rə·ḥō·wṯ כָּל־ of all kāl- שֹׁ֣כְחֵי who forget šō·ḵə·ḥê אֵ֑ל God ; ’êl וְתִקְוַ֖ת so the hope wə·ṯiq·waṯ חָנֵ֣ף of the godless ḥā·nêp̄ תֹּאבֵֽד׃ will perish . tō·ḇêḏ Job 8:14 אֲשֶׁר־ His ’ă·šer- כִּסְל֑וֹ confidence kis·lōw יָק֥וֹט is fragile ; yā·qō·wṭ מִבְטַחֽוֹ׃ his security miḇ·ṭa·ḥōw עַ֝כָּבִ֗ישׁ is in a spider’s ‘ak·kā·ḇîš וּבֵ֥ית web . ū·ḇêṯ Job 8:15 יִשָּׁעֵ֣ן He leans yiš·šā·‘ên עַל־ on ‘al- בֵּ֭יתוֹ his web , bê·ṯōw וְלֹ֣א vvv wə·lō יַעֲמֹ֑ד but it gives way ; ya·‘ă·mōḏ יַחֲזִ֥יק he holds fast ya·ḥă·zîq בּ֝֗וֹ , bōw וְלֹ֣א but it does not wə·lō יָקֽוּם׃ endure . yā·qūm Job 8:16 ה֭וּא He hū רָטֹ֣ב is a well-watered plant rā·ṭōḇ לִפְנֵי־ in lip̄·nê- שָׁ֑מֶשׁ the sunshine , šā·meš תֵצֵֽא׃ spreading ṯê·ṣê יֹֽנַקְתּ֥וֹ its shoots yō·naq·tōw וְעַ֥ל over wə·‘al גַּ֝נָּת֗וֹ the garden . gan·nā·ṯōw Job 8:17 שָֽׁרָשָׁ֣יו His roots šā·rā·šāw יְסֻבָּ֑כוּ wrap yə·sub·bā·ḵū עַל־ around ‘al- גַּ֭ל the rock heap ; gal יֶחֱזֶֽה׃ he looks for ye·ḥĕ·zeh בֵּ֖ית a home among bêṯ אֲבָנִ֣ים the stones . ’ă·ḇā·nîm Job 8:18 אִם־ If ’im- יְבַלְּעֶ֥נּוּ he is uprooted yə·ḇal·lə·‘en·nū מִמְּקוֹמ֑וֹ from his place , mim·mə·qō·w·mōw וְכִ֥חֶשׁ it will disown wə·ḵi·ḥeš בּ֝֗וֹ him , bōw לֹ֣א saying, ‘ I never lō רְאִיתִֽיךָ׃ saw you . ’ rə·’î·ṯî·ḵā Job 8:19 הֶן־ Surely hen- ה֭וּא this hū מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ is the joy mə·śō·wś דַּרְכּ֑וֹ of his way ; dar·kōw אַחֵ֥ר yet others ’a·ḥêr יִצְמָֽחוּ׃ will spring yiṣ·mā·ḥū
