Job 8:1 בִּלְדַּ֥ד Then Bildad bil·daḏ הַשּׁוּחִ֗י the Shuhite haš·šū·ḥî וַיֹאמַֽר׃ . . . wa·yō·mar וַ֭יַּעַן replied : way·ya·‘an Job 8:2 עַד־ “ How long ‘aḏ- אָ֥ן . . . ’ān תְּמַלֶּל־ will you go on saying tə·mal·lel- אֵ֑לֶּה such things ? ’êl·leh אִמְרֵי־ The words ’im·rê- פִֽיךָ׃ of your mouth p̄î·ḵā כַּ֝בִּיר are a blustering kab·bîr וְר֥וּחַ wind . wə·rū·aḥ Job 8:3 הַ֭אֵל Does God ha·’êl יְעַוֵּ֣ת pervert yə·‘aw·wêṯ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט justice ? miš·pāṭ וְאִם־ - wə·’i·mō·ša- שַׁ֝דַּ֗י Does the Almighty day יְעַוֵּֽת־ pervert yə·‘aw·wêṯ- צֶֽדֶק׃ what is right ? ṣe·ḏeq Job 8:4 אִם־ When ’im- בָּנֶ֥יךָ your children bā·ne·ḵā חָֽטְאוּ־ sinned ḥā·ṭə·’ū- ל֑וֹ against Him , lōw וַֽ֝יְשַׁלְּחֵ֗ם He gave them over way·šal·lə·ḥêm בְּיַד־ . . . bə·yaḏ- פִּשְׁעָֽם׃ to their rebellion . piš·‘ām Job 8:5 אִם־ But if ’im- אַ֭תָּה you ’at·tāh תְּשַׁחֵ֣ר would earnestly seek tə·ša·ḥêr אֶל־ . . . ’el- אֵ֑ל God ’êl וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’e·lō·ša- שַׁ֝דַּ֗י and ask the Almighty day תִּתְחַנָּֽן׃ for mercy , tiṯ·ḥan·nān Job 8:6 אִם־ if ’im- אָ֥תָּה you ’āt·tāh זַ֥ךְ are pure zaḵ וְיָשָׁ֗ר and upright , wə·yā·šār כִּי־ even kî- עַ֭תָּה now ‘at·tāh יָעִ֣יר He will rouse Himself yā·‘îr עָלֶ֑יךָ on your behalf ‘ā·le·ḵā וְ֝שִׁלַּ֗ם and restore wə·šil·lam צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ your righteous ṣiḏ·qe·ḵā נְוַ֣ת estate . nə·waṯ Job 8:7 רֵאשִׁיתְךָ֣ Though your beginnings rê·šî·ṯə·ḵā וְהָיָ֣ה were wə·hā·yāh מִצְעָ֑ר modest , miṣ·‘ār וְ֝אַחֲרִיתְךָ֗ your latter days wə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯə·ḵā יִשְׂגֶּ֥ה will flourish yiś·geh מְאֹֽד׃ . . . . mə·’ōḏ Job 8:8 נָ֭א Please nā כִּֽי־ . . . kî- שְׁאַל־ inquire šə·’al- רִישׁ֑וֹן of past rî·šō·wn לְדֹ֣ר generations lə·ḏōr וְ֝כוֹנֵ֗ן and consider wə·ḵō·w·nên לְחֵ֣קֶר the discoveries lə·ḥê·qer אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ of their fathers . ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām Job 8:9 כִּֽי־ For kî- אֲ֭נַחְנוּ we [were born] ’ă·naḥ·nū תְמ֣וֹל yesterday ṯə·mō·wl נֵדָ֑ע and know nê·ḏā‘ כִּ֤י . . . kî וְלֹ֣א nothing ; wə·lō יָמֵ֣ינוּ our days yā·mê·nū עֲלֵי־ on ‘ă·lê- אָֽרֶץ׃ earth ’ā·reṣ צֵ֖ל are but a shadow . ṣêl Job 8:10 הֵ֣ם Will they hêm הֲלֹא־ not hă·lō-
