שָׁכַ֗בְתִּי I lie down šā·ḵaḇ·tî וְאָמַ֗רְתִּי I think : wə·’ā·mar·tî מָתַ֣י ‘ When mā·ṯay אָ֭קוּם will I get up ? ’ ’ā·qūm עָ֑רֶב But the night ‘ā·reḇ וּמִדַּד־ drags on , ū·mid·daḏ- וְשָׂבַ֖עְתִּי and I toss and turn wə·śā·ḇa‘·tî נְדֻדִ֣ים . . . nə·ḏu·ḏîm עֲדֵי־ until ‘ă·ḏê- נָֽשֶׁף׃ dawn . nā·šep̄ Job 7:5 בְּשָׂרִ֣י My flesh bə·śā·rî לָ֘בַ֤שׁ is clothed lā·ḇaš רִ֭מָּה with worms rim·māh וְגִישׁ and encrusted wə·ḡīš עָפָ֑ר with dirt ; ‘ā·p̄ār עוֹרִ֥י my skin ‘ō·w·rî רָ֝גַ֗ע is cracked rā·ḡa‘ וַיִּמָּאֵֽס׃ and festering . way·yim·mā·’ês Job 7:6 יָמַ֣י My days yā·may קַ֭לּוּ are swifter qal·lū מִנִּי־ than min·nî- אָ֑רֶג a weaver’s shuttle ; ’ā·reḡ וַ֝יִּכְל֗וּ they come to an end way·yiḵ·lū בְּאֶ֣פֶס without bə·’e·p̄es תִּקְוָֽה׃ hope . tiq·wāh Job 7:7 זְ֭כֹר Remember zə·ḵōr כִּי־ that kî- חַיָּ֑י my life ḥay·yāy ר֣וּחַ is but a breath . rū·aḥ עֵ֝ינִ֗י My eyes ‘ê·nî לֹא־ will never lō- תָשׁ֥וּב again ṯā·šūḇ לִרְא֥וֹת see lir·’ō·wṯ טֽוֹב׃ happiness . ṭō·wḇ Job 7:8 עֵ֣ין The eye ‘ên רֹ֑אִי that beholds me rō·’î לֹֽא־ will no lō- תְ֭שׁוּרֵנִי longer see me . ṯə·šū·rê·nî עֵינֶ֖יךָ You will look ‘ê·ne·ḵā בִּ֣י for me , bî וְאֵינֶֽנִּי׃ but I will be no more . wə·’ê·nen·nî Job 7:9 עָ֭נָן As a cloud ‘ā·nān כָּלָ֣ה vanishes kā·lāh וַיֵּלַ֑ךְ and is gone , way·yê·laḵ כֵּ֥ן so kên יוֹרֵ֥ד he who goes down yō·w·rêḏ שְׁ֝א֗וֹל to Sheol ’ō·wl לֹ֣א does not lō יַעֲלֶֽה׃ come back up . ya·‘ă·leh Job 7:10 לֹא־ He never lō- ע֣וֹד . . . ‘ō·wḏ יָשׁ֣וּב returns yā·šūḇ לְבֵית֑וֹ to his house ; lə·ḇê·ṯōw מְקֹמֽוֹ׃ his place mə·qō·mōw וְלֹא־ - wə·lō- יַכִּירֶ֖נּוּ remembers him yak·kî·ren·nū ע֣וֹד no more . ‘ō·wḏ Job 7:11 גַּם־ Therefore gam- אֲנִי֮ I ’ă·nî לֹ֤א will not lō אֶחֱשָׂ֫ךְ restrain ’e·ḥĕ·śāḵ פִּ֥י my mouth ; pî אֲ I will speak ’ăḏab·bə·rāh בְּצַ֣ר in the anguish bə·ṣar רוּחִ֑י of my spirit ; rū·ḥî אָ֝שִׂ֗יחָה I will complain ’ā·śî·ḥāh בְּמַ֣ר in the bitterness bə·mar נַפְשִֽׁי׃ of my soul . nap̄·šî Job 7:12 אָ֭נִי Am I ’ā·nî הֲ the sea , hăyām- אִם־ or ’im- תַּנִּ֑ין the monster of the deep , tan·nîn כִּֽי־ that kî- תָשִׂ֖ים You must keep me under ṯā·śîm עָלַ֣י . . . ‘ā·lay מִשְׁמָֽר׃ guard ? miš·mār
