Esther 2:14 הִ֣יא She hî בָאָ֗ה would go [there] ḇā·’āh בָּעֶ֣רֶב׀ in the evening , bā·‘e·reḇ וּ֠בַבֹּקֶר and in the morning ū·ḇab·bō·qer הִ֣יא she hî שָׁבָ֞ה would return šā·ḇāh אֶל־ to ’el- שֵׁנִ֔י a second šê·nî בֵּ֤ית harem bêṯ הַנָּשִׁים֙ . . . han·nā·šîm אֶל־ under ’el- יַ֧ד the care yaḏ שַֽׁעֲשְׁגַ֛ז of Shaashgaz , ša·‘ăš·ḡaz הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king’s ham·me·leḵ סְרִ֥יס eunuch sə·rîs שֹׁמֵ֣ר in charge of šō·mêr הַפִּֽילַגְשִׁ֑ים the concubines . hap·pî·laḡ·šîm לֹא־ She would not lō- תָב֥וֹא return ṯā·ḇō·w עוֹד֙ . . . ‘ō·wḏ אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ כִּ֣י unless kî אִם־ . . . ’im- הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ he ham·me·leḵ חָפֵ֥ץ delighted ḥā·p̄êṣ בָּ֛הּ in her bāh וְנִקְרְאָ֥ה and summoned her wə·niq·rə·’āh בְשֵֽׁם׃ by name . ḇə·šêm Esther 2:15 אֶסְתֵּ֣ר Now Esther ’es·têr בַּת־ [was] the daughter baṯ- אֲבִיחַ֣יִל of Abihail , ’ă·ḇî·ḥa·yil דֹּ֣ד the uncle dōḏ מָרְדֳּכַ֡י from whom Mordecai mā·rə·do·ḵay אֲשֶׁר֩ - ’ă·šer לָקַֽח־ had adopted lā·qaḥ- ל֨וֹ her lōw לְבַ֜ת as his own daughter . lə·ḇaṯ תֹּר־ And when it was her turn tōr- וּבְהַגִּ֣יעַ . . . ū·ḇə·hag·gî·a‘ לָב֣וֹא to go lā·ḇō·w אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ the king , ham·me·leḵ לֹ֤א she did not lō בִקְשָׁה֙ ask for ḇiq·šāh דָּבָ֔ר anything dā·ḇār כִּ֠י except kî אִ֣ם . . . ’im אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲשֶׁ֥ר what ’ă·šer הֵגַ֥י Hegai , hê·ḡay הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king’s ham·me·leḵ סְרִיס־ trusted official sə·rîs- שֹׁמֵ֣ר in charge of šō·mêr הַנָּשִׁ֑ים the harem , han·nā·šîm וַתְּהִ֤י . . . wat·tə·hî יֹאמַ֛ר had advised . yō·mar אֶסְתֵּר֙ And Esther ’es·têr נֹשֵׂ֣את found nō·śêṯ חֵ֔ן favor ḥên בְּעֵינֵ֖י in the eyes bə·‘ê·nê כָּל־ of everyone kāl- רֹאֶֽיהָ׃ who saw her . rō·’e·hā Esther 2:16 אֶסְתֵּ֜ר She ’es·têr וַתִּלָּקַ֨ח was taken wat·til·lā·qaḥ אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ King ham·me·leḵ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ֙ Xerxes ’ă·ḥaš·wê·rō·wōš אֶל־ in ’el- מַלְכוּת֔וֹ the royal mal·ḵū·ṯōw בֵּ֣ית palace bêṯ הָעֲשִׂירִ֖י in the tenth hā·‘ă·śî·rî הוּא־ . . . hū- בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ month , ba·ḥō·ḏeš חֹ֣דֶשׁ the month ḥō·ḏeš טֵבֵ֑ת of Tebeth , ṭê·ḇêṯ שֶׁ֖בַע in the seventh še·ḇa‘ בִּשְׁנַת־ year biš·naṯ- לְמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃ of his reign . lə·mal·ḵū·ṯōw Esther 2:17 הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ And the king ham·me·leḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיֶּאֱהַ֨ב loved way·ye·’ĕ·haḇ אֶסְתֵּר֙ Esther ’es·têr מִכָּל־ more than all mik·kāl הַנָּשִׁ֔ים the [other] women , han·nā·šîm וַתִּשָּׂא־ and she found wat·tiś·śā- חֵ֥ן grace ḥên וָחֶ֛סֶד and favor wā·ḥe·seḏ לְפָנָ֖יו in his sight lə·p̄ā·nāw
