לֹ֥א I was not lō בִּֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם in Jerusalem , bî·rū·šā·lim כִּ֡י because kî בָּ֣אתִי I had returned bā·ṯî אֶל־ to ’el- לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁ֤סְתְּא Artaxerxes lə·’ar·taḥ·šast מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- בָּבֶל֙ of Babylon bā·ḇel שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים in the thirty-second šə·lō·šîm וּשְׁתַּ֜יִם . . . ū·šə·ta·yim בִּשְׁנַת֩ year biš·naṯ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ of his reign . ham·me·leḵ וּלְקֵ֥ץ Some time later ū·lə·qêṣ יָמִ֖ים . . . yā·mîm נִשְׁאַ֥לְתִּי I obtained leave niš·’al·tî מִן־ from min- הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ the king ham·me·leḵ Nehemiah 13:7 וָאָב֖וֹא to return wā·’ā·ḇō·w לִֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם to Jerusalem . lî·rū·šā·lim וָאָבִ֣ינָה Then I discovered wā·’ā·ḇî·nāh בָרָעָ֗ה the evil ḇā·rā·‘āh אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer אֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ Eliashib ’el·yā·šîḇ עָשָׂ֤ה had done ‘ā·śāh לְט֣וֹבִיָּ֔ה on behalf of Tobiah lə·ṭō·w·ḇî·yāh לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת by providing la·‘ă·śō·wṯ לוֹ֙ him lōw נִשְׁכָּ֔ה a room niš·kāh בְּחַצְרֵ֖י in the courts bə·ḥaṣ·rê בֵּ֥ית of the house bêṯ הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ of God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm Nehemiah 13:8 מְאֹ֑ד And I was greatly mə·’ōḏ וַיֵּ֥רַֽע displeased way·yê·ra‘ לִ֖י lî וָֽאַשְׁלִ֜יכָה and threw wā·’aš·lî·ḵāh אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- טוֹבִיָּ֛ה of Tobiah’s ṭō·w·ḇî·yāh בֵית־ household ḇêṯ- כְּלֵ֧י goods kə·lê הַח֖וּץ out ha·ḥūṣ מִן־ of min- הַלִּשְׁכָּֽה׃ the room . hal·liš·kāh Nehemiah 13:9 וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה Then I ordered wā·’ō·mə·rāh הַלְּשָׁכ֑וֹת that the rooms hal·lə·šā·ḵō·wṯ וַֽיְטַהֲר֖וּ be purified , way·ṭa·hă·rū כְּלֵי֙ and I had the articles kə·lê בֵּ֣ית of the house bêṯ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים of God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וָאָשִׁ֣יבָה restored wā·’ā·šî·ḇāh שָּׁ֗ם to them , šām הַמִּנְחָ֖ה along with the grain offerings ham·min·ḥāh וְהַלְּבוֹנָֽה׃פ and frankincense . wə·hal·lə·ḇō·w·nāh Nehemiah 13:10 וָאֵ֣דְעָ֔ה I also learned wā·’ê·ḏə·‘āh כִּֽי־ that kî- מְנָי֥וֹת because the portions mə·nā·yō·wṯ הַלְוִיִּ֖ם for the Levites hal·wî·yim לֹ֣א had not lō נִתָּ֑נָה been given to them , nit·tā·nāh אִישׁ־ all ’îš- הַלְוִיִּ֥ם the Levites hal·wî·yim וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖ים and singers wə·ham·šō·rə·rîm עֹשֵׂ֥י responsible for performing ‘ō·śê הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃ the service ham·mə·lā·ḵāh וַיִּבְרְח֧וּ had gone back way·yiḇ·rə·ḥū לְשָׂדֵ֛הוּ to their own fields . lə·śā·ḏê·hū Nehemiah 13:11 וָאָרִ֙יבָה֙ So I rebuked wā·’ā·rî·ḇāh אֶת־ ’eṯ- הַסְּגָנִ֔ים the officials has·sə·ḡā·nîm וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה and asked , wā·’ō·mə·rāh מַדּ֖וּעַ “ Why mad·dū·a‘ בֵּית־ has the house bêṯ- הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm נֶעֱזַ֣ב been neglected ? ” ne·‘ĕ·zaḇ וָֽאֶ֨קְבְּצֵ֔ם Then I gathered the Levites and singers together wā·’eq·bə·ṣêm וָֽאַעֲמִדֵ֖ם and stationed them wā·’a·‘ă·mi·ḏêm עַל־ at ‘al- עָמְדָֽם׃ their posts , ‘ā·mə·ḏām Nehemiah 13:12 וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl יְהוּדָ֗ה Judah yə·hū·ḏāh הֵבִ֜יאוּ brought hê·ḇî·’ū
