מַקְדִּשִׁ֖ים set aside maq·di·šîm לִבְנֵ֥י daily portions for the descendants liḇ·nê אַהֲרֹֽן׃פ of Aaron . ’a·hă·rōn Nehemiah 13:1 הַה֗וּא At that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם time bay·yō·wm בְּסֵ֥פֶר the Book bə·sê·p̄er מֹשֶׁ֖ה of Moses mō·šeh נִקְרָ֛א was read aloud niq·rā בְּאָזְנֵ֣י in the hearing bə·’ā·zə·nê הָעָ֑ם of the people , hā·‘ām בּ֔וֹ and in it bōw וְנִמְצָא֙ they found wə·nim·ṣā כָּת֣וּב the passage stating kā·ṯūḇ אֲ֠שֶׁר that ’ă·šer לֹא־ no lō- עַמֹּנִ֧י Ammonite ‘am·mō·nî וּמֹאָבִ֛י or Moabite ū·mō·’ā·ḇî עַד־ should ever ‘aḏ- עוֹלָֽם׃ . . . ‘ō·w·lām יָב֨וֹא enter yā·ḇō·w בִּקְהַ֥ל the assembly biq·hal הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm Nehemiah 13:2 כִּ֣י because kî לֹ֧א they had not lō קִדְּמ֛וּ met qid·də·mū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנֵ֥י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl בַּלֶּ֣חֶם with food bal·le·ḥem וּבַמָּ֑יִם and water , ū·ḇam·mā·yim וַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨ר but had hired way·yiś·kōr בִּלְעָם֙ Balaam bil·‘ām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לְקַֽלְל֔וֹ to call down a curse lə·qal·lōw עָלָ֤יו against them ‘ā·lāw אֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ ( although our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū וַיַּהֲפֹ֧ךְ had turned way·ya·hă·p̄ōḵ הַקְּלָלָ֖ה the curse haq·qə·lā·lāh לִבְרָכָֽה׃ into a blessing ) . liḇ·rā·ḵāh Nehemiah 13:3 וַיְהִ֖י As soon as way·hî כְּשָׁמְעָ֣ם [the people] heard kə·šā·mə·‘ām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַתּוֹרָ֑ה this law , hat·tō·w·rāh וַיַּבְדִּ֥ילוּ they excluded way·yaḇ·dî·lū מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ from Israel mî·yiś·rā·’êl כָל־ all ḵāl עֵ֖רֶב of foreign descent . ‘ê·reḇ Nehemiah 13:4 וְלִפְנֵ֣י Now before wə·lip̄·nê מִזֶּ֔ה this , miz·zeh אֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ Eliashib ’el·yā·šîḇ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן the priest , hak·kō·hên קָר֖וֹב a relative qā·rō·wḇ לְטוֹבִיָּֽה׃ of Tobiah , lə·ṭō·w·ḇî·yāh נָת֖וּן had been put in charge of nā·ṯūn בְּלִשְׁכַּ֣ת the storerooms bə·liš·kaṯ בֵּית־ of the house bêṯ- אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ of our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū Nehemiah 13:5 וַיַּ֨עַשׂ and had prepared way·ya·‘aś ל֜וֹ for [Tobiah] lōw גְדוֹלָ֗ה a large ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh לִשְׁכָּ֣ה room liš·kāh וְשָׁ֣ם where wə·šām הָי֪וּ . . . hā·yū לְפָנִ֟ים they had previously lə·p̄ā·nîm נֹ֠תְנִים stored nō·ṯə·nîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמִּנְחָ֨ה the grain offerings , ham·min·ḥāh הַלְּבוֹנָ֜ה the frankincense , hal·lə·ḇō·w·nāh וְהַכֵּלִ֗ים the [temple] articles , wə·hak·kê·lîm וּמַעְשַׂ֤ר and the tithes ū·ma‘·śar הַדָּגָן֙ of grain , had·dā·ḡān הַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ new wine , hat·tî·rō·wōš וְהַיִּצְהָ֔ר and oil wə·hay·yiṣ·hār מִצְוַת֙ prescribed miṣ·waṯ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם for the Levites , hal·wî·yim וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖ים singers , wə·ham·šō·rə·rîm וְהַשֹּׁעֲרִ֑ים and gatekeepers , wə·haš·šō·‘ă·rîm וּתְרוּמַ֖ת along with the contributions ū·ṯə·rū·maṯ הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃ for the priests . hak·kō·hă·nîm Nehemiah 13:6 וּבְכָל־ While all ū·ḇə·ḵāl זֶ֕ה this zeh הָיִ֖יתִי was happening , hā·yî·ṯî
