וַיַּֽעֲנ֨וּ said , way·ya·‘ă·nū אָמֵ֤ן׀ “ Amen , ’ā·mên אָמֵן֙ Amen ! ” ’ā·mên וַיִּקְּד֧וּ Then they bowed down way·yiq·qə·ḏū וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲוֻּ֛ and worshiped way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wu לַיהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh אַפַּ֥יִם with their faces ’ap·pa·yim אָֽרְצָה׃ to the ground . ’ā·rə·ṣāh Nehemiah 8:7 וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם The Levites — wə·hal·wî·yim וְיֵשׁ֡וּעַ Jeshua , wə·yê·šū·a‘ וּבָנִ֡י Bani , ū·ḇā·nî וְשֵׁרֵ֥בְיָ֣ה׀ Sherebiah , wə·šê·rê·ḇə·yāh יָמִ֡ין Jamin , yā·mîn עַקּ֡וּב Akkub , ‘aq·qūḇ שַׁבְּתַ֣י׀ Shabbethai , šab·bə·ṯay הֽוֹדִיָּ֡ה Hodiah , hō·w·ḏî·yāh מַעֲשֵׂיָ֡ה Maaseiah , ma·‘ă·śê·yāh קְלִיטָ֣א Kelita , qə·lî·ṭā עֲזַרְיָה֩ Azariah , ‘ă·zar·yāh יוֹזָבָ֨ד Jozabad , yō·w·zā·ḇāḏ חָנָ֤ן Hanan , ḥā·nān פְּלָאיָה֙ and Pelaiah — pə·lā·yāh מְבִינִ֥ים instructed mə·ḇî·nîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām לַתּוֹרָ֑ה in the Law lat·tō·w·rāh וְהָעָ֖ם as [they] wə·hā·‘ām עַל־ [stood] in ‘al- עָמְדָֽם׃ their places . ‘ā·mə·ḏām Nehemiah 8:8 וַֽיִּקְרְא֥וּ So they read way·yiq·rə·’ū בַסֵּ֛פֶר from the Book ḇas·sê·p̄er בְּתוֹרַ֥ת of the Law bə·ṯō·w·raṯ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm מְפֹרָ֑שׁ explaining it mə·p̄ō·rāš וְשׂ֣וֹם and giving wə·śō·wm שֶׂ֔כֶל insight , śe·ḵel וַיָּבִ֖ינוּ so that the people could understand way·yā·ḇî·nū בַּמִּקְרָֽא׃ס what was being read . bam·miq·rā Nehemiah 8:9 נְחֶמְיָ֣ה Nehemiah nə·ḥem·yāh ה֣וּא hū הַתִּרְשָׁ֡תָא the governor , hat·tir·šā·ṯā וְעֶזְרָ֣א Ezra wə·‘ez·rā הַכֹּהֵ֣ן׀ the priest hak·kō·hên הַסֹּפֵ֡ר and scribe , has·sō·p̄êr וְהַלְוִיִּם֩ and the Levites wə·hal·wî·yim הַמְּבִינִ֨ים who were instructing ham·mə·ḇî·nîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֜ם the people hā·‘ām וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer לְכָל־ to all lə·ḵāl הָעָ֗ם [of them] , hā·‘ām הוּא֙ “ This hū הַיּ֤וֹם day hay·yō·wm קָדֹֽשׁ־ is holy qā·ḏōš- לַיהוָ֣ה to YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם your God . ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem אַל־ Do not ’al- תִּֽתְאַבְּל֖וּ mourn tiṯ·’ab·bə·lū וְאַל־ . . . wə·’al- תִּבְכּ֑וּ or weep . ” tiḇ·kū כִּ֤י For kî כָּל־ all kāl- הָעָ֔ם the people hā·‘ām בוֹכִים֙ were weeping ḇō·w·ḵîm כְּשָׁמְעָ֖ם as they heard kə·šā·mə·‘ām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דִּבְרֵ֥י the words diḇ·rê הַתּוֹרָֽה׃ of the Law . hat·tō·w·rāh Nehemiah 8:10 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר Then [Nehemiah] told way·yō·mer לָהֶ֡ם them , lā·hem לְכוּ֩ “ Go lə·ḵū אִכְל֨וּ and eat ’iḵ·lū מַשְׁמַנִּ֜ים what is rich , maš·man·nîm וּשְׁת֣וּ drink ū·šə·ṯū מַֽמְתַקִּ֗ים what is sweet , mam·ṯaq·qîm וְשִׁלְח֤וּ and send out wə·šil·ḥū מָנוֹת֙ portions mā·nō·wṯ לְאֵ֣ין to those who have nothing lə·’ên נָכ֣וֹן prepared nā·ḵō·wn ל֔וֹ , lōw כִּֽי־ since kî- הַיּ֖וֹם today hay·yō·wm קָד֥וֹשׁ is holy qā·ḏō·wōš לַאֲדֹנֵ֑ינוּ to our Lord . la·’ă·ḏō·nê·nū וְאַל־ Do not wə·’al- תֵּ֣עָצֵ֔בוּ grieve , tê·‘ā·ṣê·ḇū כִּֽי־ for kî- חֶדְוַ֥ת the joy ḥeḏ·waṯ
