עֶזְרָ֣א Ezra ‘ez·rā הַ֠כֹּהֵן the priest hak·kō·hên אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- וַיָּבִ֣יא brought way·yā·ḇî הַתּוֹרָ֞ה the Law hat·tō·w·rāh לִפְנֵ֤י before lip̄·nê הַקָּהָל֙ the assembly haq·qā·hāl מֵאִ֣ישׁ of men mê·’îš וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- אִשָּׁ֔ה women ’iš·šāh וְכֹ֖ל and all wə·ḵōl לִשְׁמֹ֑עַ who could listen liš·mō·a‘ מֵבִ֣ין and understand . mê·ḇîn Nehemiah 8:3 וַיִּקְרָא־ So [Ezra] read way·yiq·rā- בוֹ֩ it aloud ḇōw מִן־ from min- הָאוֹר֙ daybreak hā·’ō·wr עַד־ until ‘aḏ- מַחֲצִ֣ית noon ma·ḥă·ṣîṯ הַיּ֔וֹם . . . hay·yō·wm לִפְנֵ֨י as he faced lip̄·nê הָרְח֜וֹב the square hā·rə·ḥō·wḇ אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ - ’ă·šer לִפְנֵ֣י before lip̄·nê הַמַּ֗יִם the Water ham·ma·yim שַֽׁעַר־ Gate , ša·‘ar- נֶ֛גֶד in front of ne·ḡeḏ הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים the men hā·’ă·nā·šîm וְהַנָּשִׁ֖ים and women wə·han·nā·šîm וְהַמְּבִינִ֑ים and those who could understand . wə·ham·mə·ḇî·nîm כָל־ And all ḵāl הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām וְאָזְנֵ֥י listened attentively to wə·’ā·zə·nê אֶל־ . . . ’el- סֵ֥פֶר the Book sê·p̄er הַתּוֹרָֽה׃ of the Law . hat·tō·w·rāh Nehemiah 8:4 עֶזְרָ֣א Ezra ‘ez·rā הַסֹּפֵ֗ר the scribe has·sō·p̄êr וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֞ד stood way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ עַֽל־ on ‘al- עֵץ֮ a high wooden ‘êṣ אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer מִגְדַּל־ platform miḡ·dal- עָשׂ֣וּ built ‘ā·śū לַדָּבָר֒ for this occasion . lad·dā·ḇār אֶצְל֡וֹ ’eṣ·lōw עַל־ At his ‘al- יְמִינ֑וֹ right side yə·mî·nōw וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֣ד stood way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ מַתִּתְיָ֡ה Mattithiah , mat·tiṯ·yāh וְשֶׁ֡מַע Shema , wə·še·ma‘ וַ֠עֲנָיָה Anaiah , wa·‘ă·nā·yāh וְאוּרִיָּ֧ה Uriah , wə·’ū·rî·yāh וְחִלְקִיָּ֛ה Hilkiah , wə·ḥil·qî·yāh וּמַעֲשֵׂיָ֖ה and Maaseiah , ū·ma·‘ă·śê·yāh וּמִשְּׂמֹאל֗וֹ and at his left ū·miś·śə·mō·lōw פְּ֠דָיָה were Pedaiah , pə·ḏā·yāh וּמִֽישָׁאֵ֧ל Mishael , ū·mî·šā·’êl וּמַלְכִּיָּ֛ה Malchijah , ū·mal·kî·yāh וְחָשֻׁ֥ם Hashum , wə·ḥā·šum וְחַשְׁבַּדָּ֖נָה Hash-baddanah , wə·ḥaš·bad·dā·nāh זְכַרְיָ֥ה Zechariah , zə·ḵar·yāh מְשֻׁלָּֽם׃פ and Meshullam . mə·šul·lām Nehemiah 8:5 עֶזְרָ֤א Ezra ‘ez·rā וַיִּפְתַּ֨ח opened way·yip̄·taḥ הַסֵּ֙פֶר֙ the book has·sê·p̄er לְעֵינֵ֣י in full view lə·‘ê·nê כָל־ of all ḵāl הָעָ֔ם the people , hā·‘ām כִּֽי־ since kî- הָיָ֑ה he was hā·yāh מֵעַ֥ל standing above them mê·‘al כָּל־ all kāl- הָעָ֖ם . . . , hā·‘ām וּכְפִתְח֖וֹ and as he opened it , ū·ḵə·p̄iṯ·ḥōw כָל־ all ḵāl הָעָֽם׃ the people hā·‘ām עָֽמְד֥וּ stood up . ‘ā·mə·ḏū Nehemiah 8:6 עֶזְרָ֔א Then Ezra ‘ez·rā אֶת־ ’eṯ- וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ blessed way·ḇā·reḵ יְהוָ֥ה YHWH , Yah·weh הַגָּד֑וֹל the great hag·gā·ḏō·wl הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm יְדֵיהֶ֔ם and with their hands yə·ḏê·hem בְּמֹ֣עַל uplifted , bə·mō·‘al כָל־ all ḵāl הָעָ֜ם the people hā·‘ām
