עַל־ ‘al- ט֔וֹב it pleases ṭō·wḇ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ the king , ham·me·leḵ אִגְּרוֹת֙ may letters ’ig·gə·rō·wṯ יִתְּנוּ־ be given yit·tə·nū- לִ֔י to me lî עַֽל־ for ‘al- פַּחֲו֖וֹת the governors pa·ḥă·wō·wṯ עֵ֣בֶר west ‘ê·ḇer הַנָּהָ֑ר of the Euphrates , han·nā·hār אֲשֶׁר֙ so that ’ă·šer יַעֲבִיר֔וּנִי they will grant me safe passage ya·‘ă·ḇî·rū·nî עַ֥ד until ‘aḏ אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אָב֖וֹא I reach ’ā·ḇō·w אֶל־ . . . ’el- יְהוּדָֽה׃ Judah . yə·hū·ḏāh Nehemiah 2:8 וְאִגֶּ֡רֶת And may I have a letter wə·’ig·ge·reṯ אֶל־ to ’el- אָסָף֩ Asaph , ’ā·sāp̄ שֹׁמֵ֨ר keeper šō·mêr אֲשֶׁ֣ר of the king’s ’ă·šer לַמֶּ֗לֶךְ . . . lam·me·leḵ הַפַּרְדֵּ֜ס forest , hap·par·dês אֲשֶׁ֣ר so that ’ă·šer יִתֶּן־ he will give yit·ten- לִ֣י me lî עֵצִ֡ים timber ‘ê·ṣîm לְ֠קָרוֹת to make beams lə·qā·rō·wṯ אֶת־ for ’eṯ- שַׁעֲרֵ֨י the gates ša·‘ă·rê הַבִּירָ֤ה of the citadel hab·bî·rāh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- לַבַּ֙יִת֙ to the temple , lab·ba·yiṯ הָעִ֔יר for the city hā·‘îr וּלְחוֹמַ֣ת wall , ū·lə·ḥō·w·maṯ וְלַבַּ֖יִת and for the house wə·lab·ba·yiṯ אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אָב֣וֹא I will occupy ’ā·ḇō·w אֵלָ֑יו . . . . ” ’ê·lāw הַטּוֹבָ֥ה And because the gracious haṭ·ṭō·w·ḇāh כְּיַד־ hand kə·yaḏ- אֱלֹהַ֖י of my God ’ĕ·lō·hay עָלָֽי׃ was upon me , ‘ā·lāy הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ וַיִּתֶּן־ granted way·yit·ten- לִ֣י my requests . lî Nehemiah 2:9 וָֽאָב֗וֹא Then I went wā·’ā·ḇō·w אֶֽל־ to ’el- פַּֽחֲווֹת֙ the governors pa·ḥă·wō·wṯ עֵ֣בֶר west ‘ê·ḇer הַנָּהָ֔ר of the Euphrates han·nā·hār וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה and gave wā·’et·tə·nāh לָהֶ֔ם them lā·hem אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king’s ham·me·leḵ אִגְּר֣וֹת letters . ’ig·gə·rō·wṯ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ The king ham·me·leḵ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח had also sent way·yiš·laḥ חַ֖יִל army ḥa·yil שָׂ֥רֵי officers śā·rê וּפָרָשִֽׁים׃פ and cavalry ū·p̄ā·rā·šîm עִמִּי֙ with me . ‘im·mî Nehemiah 2:10 סַנְבַלַּ֣ט But when Sanballat san·ḇal·laṭ הַחֹרֹנִ֗י the Horonite ha·ḥō·rō·nî וְטֽוֹבִיָּה֙ and Tobiah wə·ṭō·w·ḇî·yāh הָֽעַמֹּנִ֔י the Ammonite hā·‘am·mō·nî הָעֶ֣בֶד official hā·‘e·ḇeḏ וַיִּשְׁמַ֞ע heard about this , way·yiš·ma‘ גְדֹלָ֑ה they were deeply ḡə·ḏō·lāh וַיֵּ֥רַע disturbed way·yê·ra‘ לָהֶ֖ם . . . lā·hem רָעָ֣ה . . . rā·‘āh אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- אָדָ֔ם someone ’ā·ḏām בָּ֥א had come bā לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ to seek lə·ḇaq·qêš טוֹבָ֖ה the well-being ṭō·w·ḇāh לִבְנֵ֥י vvv liḇ·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of the Israelites . yiś·rā·’êl Nehemiah 2:11 וָאָב֖וֹא After I had arrived wā·’ā·ḇō·w אֶל־ in ’el- יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim וָאֱהִי־ and had been wā·’ĕ·hî- שָׁ֖ם there šām שְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ three šə·lō·šāh יָמִ֥ים days , yā·mîm
