Nehemiah 2:12 אֲנִי֮ I ’ă·nî וָאָק֣וּם׀ set out wā·’ā·qūm לַ֗יְלָה at night lay·lāh עִמִּי֒ with ‘im·mî מְעַט֮ a few mə·‘aṭ וַאֲנָשִׁ֣ים׀ men . wa·’ă·nā·šîm וְלֹא־ I did not wə·lō- הִגַּ֣דְתִּי tell hig·gaḏ·tî לְאָדָ֔ם anyone lə·’ā·ḏām מָ֗ה what māh אֱלֹהַי֙ my God ’ĕ·lō·hay נֹתֵ֣ן had laid nō·ṯên אֶל־ on ’el- לִבִּ֔י my heart lib·bî לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת to do la·‘ă·śō·wṯ לִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם for Jerusalem . lî·rū·šā·lim כִּ֚י The only kî אִם־ . . . ’im- וּבְהֵמָה֙ animal ū·ḇə·hê·māh אֵ֣ין . . . ’ên עִמִּ֔י with me ‘im·mî הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה was the one hab·bə·hê·māh אֲשֶׁ֥ר on which ’ă·šer אֲנִ֖י I ’ă·nî רֹכֵ֥ב was riding rō·ḵêḇ בָּֽהּ׃ . bāh Nehemiah 2:13 וָאֵצְאָ֨ה So I went out wā·’ê·ṣə·’āh לַ֗יְלָה at night lay·lāh הַגַּ֜יא through the Valley hag·gay בְשַֽׁעַר־ Gate ḇə·ša·‘ar- וְאֶל־ toward wə·’el- פְּנֵי֙ . . . pə·nê עֵ֣ין the Well ‘ên הַתַּנִּ֔ין of the Serpent hat·tan·nîn וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- הָאַשְׁפֹּ֑ת and the Dung hā·’aš·pōṯ וָאֱהִ֨י . . . wā·’ĕ·hî שַׁ֖עַר Gate , ša·‘ar שֹׂבֵ֜ר and I inspected śō·ḇêr בְּחוֹמֹ֤ת the walls bə·ḥō·w·mōṯ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ of Jerusalem yə·rū·šā·lim אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- הַמְפֹרוָצִים had been broken down ham·p̄ō·r·wå̄·ṣīm וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ and the gates ū·šə·ʿå̄·rɛ·hå̄ אֻכְּל֥וּ that had been destroyed ’uk·kə·lū בָאֵֽשׁ׃ by fire . ḇā·’êš Nehemiah 2:14 וָאֶֽעֱבֹר֙ Then I went on wā·’e·‘ĕ·ḇōr אֶל־ to ’el- הָעַ֔יִן the Fountain hā·‘a·yin וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- שַׁ֣עַר Gate ša·‘ar הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ and the King’s ham·me·leḵ בְּרֵכַ֖ת Pool , bə·rê·ḵaṯ וְאֵין־ but [there was] no wə·’ên- מָק֥וֹם room mā·qō·wm לַבְּהֵמָ֖ה for the animal lab·bə·hê·māh תַּחְתָּֽי׃ under me taḥ·tāy לַעֲבֹ֥ר to get through ; la·‘ă·ḇōr Nehemiah 2:15 וָאֱהִ֨י so I wā·’ĕ·hî עֹלֶ֤ה went up ‘ō·leh בַנַּ֙חַל֙ the valley ḇan·na·ḥal לַ֔יְלָה by night lay·lāh וָאֱהִ֥י and wā·’ĕ·hî שֹׂבֵ֖ר inspected śō·ḇêr בַּחוֹמָ֑ה the wall . ba·ḥō·w·māh וָאָשׁ֗וּב Then I headed back wā·’ā·šūḇ וָאָב֛וֹא and reentered wā·’ā·ḇō·w וָאָשֽׁוּב׃ . . . wā·’ā·šūḇ הַגַּ֖יְא through the Valley hag·gay בְּשַׁ֥עַר Gate . bə·ša·‘ar Nehemiah 2:16 וְהַסְּגָנִ֗ים The officials wə·has·sə·ḡā·nîm לֹ֤א did not lō יָדְעוּ֙ know yā·ḏə·‘ū אָ֣נָה where ’ā·nāh הָלַ֔כְתִּי I had gone hā·laḵ·tî וּמָ֖ה or what ū·māh אֲנִ֣י I ’ă·nî עֹשֶׂ֑ה was doing , ‘ō·śeh לֹ֥א for I had not lō עַד־ yet ‘aḏ- כֵּ֖ן . . . kên הִגַּֽדְתִּי׃ told hig·gaḏ·tî וְלַיְּהוּדִ֨ים the Jews wə·lay·yə·hū·ḏîm וְלַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים or priests wə·lak·kō·hă·nîm וְלַחֹרִ֣ים or nobles wə·la·ḥō·rîm וְלַסְּגָנִ֗ים or officials wə·las·sə·ḡā·nîm
