Ezra 9:14 הֲנָשׁוּב֙ shall we again hă·nā·šūḇ לְהָפֵ֣ר break lə·hā·p̄êr מִצְוֺתֶ֔יךָ Your commandments miṣ·wō·ṯe·ḵā וּ֨לְהִתְחַתֵּ֔ן and intermarry ū·lə·hiṯ·ḥat·tên בְּעַמֵּ֥י with the peoples bə·‘am·mê הָאֵ֑לֶּה who commit these hā·’êl·leh הַתֹּעֵב֖וֹת abominations ? hat·tō·‘ê·ḇō·wṯ הֲל֤וֹא Would You not hă·lō·w תֶֽאֱנַף־ become so angry ṯe·’ĕ·nap̄- בָּ֙נוּ֙ with us bā·nū עַד־ as to ‘aḏ- כַּלֵּ֔ה wipe us out , kal·lêh לְאֵ֥ין leaving no lə·’ên שְׁאֵרִ֖ית remnant šə·’ê·rîṯ וּפְלֵיטָֽה׃פ or survivor ? ū·p̄ə·lê·ṭāh Ezra 9:15 יְהוָ֞ה O YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֤י God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אַ֔תָּה You ’at·tāh צַדִּ֣יק are righteous ! ṣad·dîq כִּֽי־ For kî- נִשְׁאַ֥רְנוּ we remain niš·’ar·nū הַזֶּ֑ה this haz·zeh כְּהַיּ֣וֹם day kə·hay·yō·wm פְלֵיטָ֖ה as a remnant . p̄ə·lê·ṭāh הִנְנ֤וּ Here we [are] hin·nū לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ before You lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā בְּאַשְׁמָתֵ֔ינוּ in our guilt , bə·’aš·mā·ṯê·nū כִּ֣י though kî עַל־ because ‘al- זֹֽאת׃פ of it zōṯ אֵ֥ין no one ’ên לַעֲמ֛וֹד can stand la·‘ă·mō·wḏ לְפָנֶ֖יךָ before You . ” lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā Ezra 10:1 עֶזְרָא֙ While Ezra ‘ez·rā וּכְהִתְפַּלֵּ֤ל prayed ū·ḵə·hiṯ·pal·lêl וּכְ֨הִתְוַדֹּת֔וֹ and made this confession , ū·ḵə·hiṯ·wad·dō·ṯō בֹּכֶה֙ weeping bō·ḵeh וּמִתְנַפֵּ֔ל and falling facedown ū·miṯ·nap·pêl לִפְנֵ֖י before lip̄·nê בֵּ֣ית the house bêṯ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm מְאֹ֗ד a very mə·’ōḏ רַב־ large raḇ- קָהָ֣ל assembly qā·hāl מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֜ל of Israelites — mî·yiś·rā·’êl אֲנָשִׁ֤ים men , ’ă·nā·šîm וְנָשִׁים֙ women , wə·nā·šîm וִֽילָדִ֔ים and children — wî·lā·ḏîm נִקְבְּצוּ֩ gathered niq·bə·ṣū אֵלָ֨יו around him , ’ê·lāw הָעָ֖ם and the people hā·‘ām בָכ֥וּ wept bitterly ḇā·ḵū הַרְבֵּה־ . . . har·bêh- בֶֽכֶה׃ס . . . ḇe·ḵeh כִּֽי־ as well . kî- Ezra 10:2 וַיַּעַן֩ Then way·ya·‘an שְׁכַנְיָ֨ה Shecaniah šə·ḵan·yāh בֶן־ son ḇen- יְחִיאֵ֜ל of Jehiel , yə·ḥî·’êl מִבְּנֵ֤י an Elamite mib·bə·nê עוֹלָם . . . , ʿō·lå̄m וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer לְעֶזְרָ֔א to Ezra : lə·‘ez·rā אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ “ We ’ă·naḥ·nū מָעַ֣לְנוּ have been unfaithful mā·‘al·nū בֵאלֹהֵ֔ינוּ to our God ḇê·lō·hê·nū וַנֹּ֛שֶׁב by marrying wan·nō·šeḇ נָכְרִיּ֖וֹת foreign nā·ḵə·rî·yō·wṯ נָשִׁ֥ים women nā·šîm מֵעַמֵּ֣י from the people mê·‘am·mê הָאָ֑רֶץ of the land , hā·’ā·reṣ וְעַתָּ֛ה yet wə·‘at·tāh עַל־ in spite of ‘al- זֹֽאת׃ this , zōṯ יֵשׁ־ there is yêš- מִקְוֶ֥ה hope miq·weh לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל for Israel . lə·yiś·rā·’êl Ezra 10:3 וְעַתָּ֣ה So now wə·‘at·tāh נִֽכְרָת־ let us make niḵ·rāṯ- בְּרִ֣ית a covenant bə·rîṯ לֵ֠אלֹהֵינוּ before our God lê·lō·hê·nū לְהוֹצִ֨יא to send away lə·hō·w·ṣî כָל־ all ḵāl נָשִׁ֜ים the foreign wives nā·šîm
