וּבְקָרְעִ֥י torn , ū·ḇə·qā·rə·‘î וָֽאֶכְרְעָה֙ and I fell wā·’eḵ·rə·‘āh עַל־ on ‘al- בִּרְכַּ֔י my knees , bir·kay וָאֶפְרְשָׂ֥ה spread out wā·’ep̄·rə·śāh כַפַּ֖י my hands ḵap·pay אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהָֽי׃ my God , ’ĕ·lō·hāy Ezra 9:6 וָאֹמְרָ֗ה and said : wā·’ō·mə·rāh אֱלֹהַי֙ “ O my God , ’ĕ·lō·hay בֹּ֣שְׁתִּי I am ashamed bō·šə·tî וְנִכְלַ֔מְתִּי and embarrassed wə·niḵ·lam·tî לְהָרִ֧ים to lift up lə·hā·rîm פָּנַ֖י my face pā·nay אֵלֶ֑יךָ to You , ’ê·le·ḵā אֱלֹהַ֛י my God , ’ĕ·lō·hay כִּ֣י because kî עֲוֺנֹתֵ֤ינוּ our iniquities ‘ă·wō·nō·ṯê·nū רָבוּ֙ are higher than rā·ḇū לְמַ֣עְלָה . . . lə·ma‘·lāh רֹּ֔אשׁ our heads , rōš וְאַשְׁמָתֵ֥נוּ and our guilt wə·’aš·mā·ṯê·nū גָדְלָ֖ה has reached ḡā·ḏə·lāh עַ֥ד . . . ‘aḏ לַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ the heavens . laš·šā·mā·yim Ezra 9:7 מִימֵ֣י From the days mî·mê אֲבֹתֵ֗ינוּ of our fathers ’ă·ḇō·ṯê·nū אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ ’ă·naḥ·nū עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּ֑ה this haz·zeh הַיּ֣וֹם day , hay·yō·wm בְּאַשְׁמָ֣ה our guilt bə·’aš·māh גְדֹלָ֔ה has been great . ḡə·ḏō·lāh וּבַעֲוֺנֹתֵ֡ינוּ Because of our iniquities , ū·ḇa·‘ă·wō·nō·ṯê·nū אֲנַחְנוּ֩ we ’ă·naḥ·nū מְלָכֵ֨ינוּ and our kings mə·lā·ḵê·nū כֹהֲנֵ֜ינוּ [and] priests ḵō·hă·nê·nū נִתַּ֡נּוּ have been delivered nit·tan·nū בְּיַ֣ד׀ into the hands bə·yaḏ מַלְכֵ֣י of the kings mal·ḵê הָאֲרָצ֗וֹת of the earth hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ בַּחֶ֜רֶב and put to the sword ba·ḥe·reḇ בַּשְּׁבִ֧י and captivity , baš·šə·ḇî וּבַבִּזָּ֛ה to pillage ū·ḇab·biz·zāh וּבְבֹ֥שֶׁת and humiliation ū·ḇə·ḇō·šeṯ פָּנִ֖ים . . . , pā·nîm הַזֶּֽה׃ as we are this haz·zeh כְּהַיּ֥וֹם day . kə·hay·yō·wm Ezra 9:8 וְעַתָּ֡ה But now , wə·‘at·tāh כִּמְעַט־ for a brief kim·‘aṭ- רֶגַע֩ moment , re·ḡa‘ תְחִנָּ֜ה grace ṯə·ḥin·nāh הָיְתָ֨ה has come hā·yə·ṯāh מֵאֵ֣ת׀ from mê·’êṯ יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū לְהַשְׁאִ֥יר to preserve lə·haš·’îr לָ֙נוּ֙ for us lā·nū פְּלֵיטָ֔ה a remnant pə·lê·ṭāh וְלָתֶת־ and to give wə·lā·ṯeṯ- לָ֥נוּ us lā·nū יָתֵ֖ד a stake yā·ṯêḏ קָדְשׁ֑וֹ in His holy qā·ḏə·šōw בִּמְק֣וֹם place . bim·qō·wm בְּעַבְדֻתֵֽנוּ׃ Even in our bondage , bə·‘aḇ·ḏu·ṯê·nū אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū וּלְתִתֵּ֛נוּ has given us ū·lə·ṯit·tê·nū מִֽחְיָ֥ה new life miḥ·yāh מְעַ֖ט . . . mə·‘aṭ לְהָאִ֤יר and light lə·hā·’îr עֵינֵ֙ינוּ֙ to our eyes . ‘ê·nê·nū Ezra 9:9 כִּֽי־ Though kî- אֲנַ֔חְנוּ we ’ă·naḥ·nū עֲבָדִ֣ים are slaves , ‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū לֹ֥א has not lō עֲזָבָ֖נוּ forsaken us ‘ă·zā·ḇā·nū וּבְעַבְדֻ֔תֵנוּ in our bondage , ū·ḇə·‘aḇ·ḏu·ṯê·nū וַֽיַּט־ but He has extended way·yaṭ- עָלֵ֣ינוּ to us ‘ā·lê·nū חֶ֡סֶד grace ḥe·seḏ לִפְנֵי֩ in the sight lip̄·nê מַלְכֵ֨י of the kings mal·ḵê פָרַ֜ס of Persia , p̄ā·ras לָֽתֶת־ giving lā·ṯeṯ- לָ֣נוּ us lā·nū מִֽחְיָ֗ה new life miḥ·yāh
