Ezra 4:11 דְּנָה֙ ( This də·nāh פַּרְשֶׁ֣גֶן is the text par·še·ḡen אִגַּרְתָּ֔א of the letter ’ig·gar·tā דִּ֚י . . . dî שְׁלַ֣חוּ they sent šə·la·ḥū עֲל֔וֹהִי to him .) ‘ă·lō·w·hî עַל־ To ‘al- מַלְכָּ֑א King mal·kā אַרְתַּחְשַׁ֖שְׂתְּא Artaxerxes , ’ar·taḥ·šaśt עַבְדָ֛יךְ From your servants , ʿaḇ·ḏå̄yḵ אֱנָ֥שׁ the men ’ĕ·nāš עֲבַֽר־ west ‘ă·ḇar- נַהֲרָ֖ה of the Euphrates na·hă·rāh וּכְעֶֽנֶת׃פ . . . : ū·ḵə·‘e·neṯ Ezra 4:12 לֶהֱוֵ֣א Let it be le·hĕ·wê יְדִ֙יעַ֙ known yə·ḏî·a‘ לְמַלְכָּ֔א to the king lə·mal·kā דִּ֣י that dî יְהוּדָיֵ֗א the Jews yə·hū·ḏā·yê דִּ֤י who dî סְלִ֙קוּ֙ came sə·li·qū מִן־ from min- לְוָתָ֔ךְ you lə·wā·ṯāḵ עֲלֶ֥ינָא to us ‘ă·le·nā אֲת֖וֹ have returned ’ă·ṯōw לִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם to Jerusalem . lî·rū·šə·lem בָּנַ֔יִן And they are rebuilding bā·na·yin מָֽרָדְתָּ֤א that rebellious mā·rā·ḏə·tā וּבִֽאישְׁתָּא֙ and wicked ū·ḇi·yō·šə·tå̄ קִרְיְתָ֨א city , qir·yə·ṯā אֲשַׁכְלְלוּ restoring ʾă·šaḵ·lə·lū וְשׁוּרַיָּ [its] walls , wə·šū·ray·yå̄ יַחִֽיטוּ׃ and repairing ya·ḥî·ṭū וְאֻשַּׁיָּ֖א its foundations . wə·’uš·šay·yā Ezra 4:13 כְּעַ֗ן Let it now kə·‘an לֶהֱוֵ֣א be le·hĕ·wê יְדִ֙יעַ֙ known yə·ḏî·a‘ לְמַלְכָּ֔א to the king lə·mal·kā דִּ֠י that dî הֵ֣ן if hên דָךְ֙ that ḏāḵ קִרְיְתָ֥א city qir·yə·ṯā תִּתְבְּנֵ֔א is rebuilt tiṯ·bə·nê וְשׁוּרַיָּ֖ה and its walls wə·šū·ray·yāh יִֽשְׁתַּכְלְל֑וּן are restored , yiš·taḵ·lə·lūn לָ֣א they will not lā יִנְתְּנ֔וּן pay yin·tə·nūn מִנְדָּֽה־ tribute , min·dāh- בְל֤וֹ duty , ḇə·lōw וַהֲלָךְ֙ or toll , wa·hă·lāḵ מַלְכִ֖ים and the royal mal·ḵîm וְאַפְּתֹ֥ם treasury wə·’ap·pə·ṯōm תְּהַנְזִֽק׃ will suffer . tə·han·ziq Ezra 4:14 כְּעַ֗ן Now kə·‘an כָּל־ because kāl- קֳבֵל֙ qo·ḇêl דִּֽי־ dî- מְלַ֤ח mə·laḥ מְלַ֔חְנָא we are in the service mə·laḥ·nā הֵֽיכְלָא֙ of the palace hê·ḵə·lā לָ֥א vvv lā אֲ and it is not fitting ’ărîḵ- לַ֖נָא for us la·nā לְמֶֽחֱזֵ֑א to allow lə·me·ḥĕ·zê עַ֨ל־ . . . ‘al- דְּנָ֔ה . . . də·nāh מַלְכָּ֔א the king mal·kā וְעַרְוַ֣ת to be dishonored , wə·‘ar·waṯ שְׁלַ֖חְנָא we have sent šə·laḥ·nā וְהוֹדַ֥עְנָא to inform wə·hō·w·ḏa‘·nā לְמַלְכָּֽא׃ the king lə·mal·kā Ezra 4:15 דִּ֡י that dî יְבַקַּר֩ a search should be made yə·ḇaq·qar דָּכְרָ֨נַיָּ֜א of the record dā·ḵə·rā·nay·yā בִּֽסְפַר־ books bis·p̄ar- דִּ֣י of dî אֲבָהָתָ֗ךְ your fathers . ’ă·ḇā·hā·ṯāḵ דָּכְרָנַיָּא֮ [In these] dā·ḵə·rā·nay·yā בִּסְפַ֣ר books bis·p̄ar וּ֠תְהַשְׁכַּח you will discover ū·ṯə·haš·kaḥ וְתִנְדַּע֒ and verify wə·ṯin·da‘ דִּי֩ that dî קִרְיְתָ֨א the city qir·yə·ṯā דָ֜ךְ ḏāḵ מָֽרָדָ֗א is a rebellious mā·rā·ḏā קִרְיָ֣א city , qir·yā וּֽמְהַנְזְקַ֤ת harmful ū·mə·han·zə·qaṯ מַלְכִין֙ to kings mal·ḵîn
