מוֹת֙ the death mō·wṯ יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע of Jehoiada, however , yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘ שָׂרֵ֣י the officials śā·rê יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh בָּ֚אוּ came bā·’ū וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ and paid homage way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ to the king , lam·me·leḵ אָ֛ז and ’āz הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [he] ham·me·leḵ שָׁמַ֥ע listened šā·ma‘ אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ to them . ’ă·lê·hem 2 Chronicles 24:18 וַיַּֽעַזְב֗וּ They abandoned way·ya·‘az·ḇū אֶת־ ’eṯ- בֵּ֤ית the house bêṯ יְהוָה֙ of YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֔ם of their fathers , ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem וַיַּֽעַבְד֥וּ and served way·ya·‘aḇ·ḏū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים the Asherah poles hā·’ă·šê·rîm וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָֽעֲצַבִּ֑ים and idols . hā·‘ă·ṣab·bîm קֶ֗צֶף So wrath qe·ṣep̄ וַֽיְהִי־ came way·hî- עַל־ upon ‘al- יְהוּדָה֙ Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם and Jerusalem wî·rū·šā·lim זֹֽאת׃ for this zōṯ בְּאַשְׁמָתָ֖ם guilt of theirs . bə·’aš·mā·ṯām 2 Chronicles 24:19 וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח Nevertheless, [YHWH] sent way·yiš·laḥ בָּהֶם֙ - bā·hem נְבִאִ֔ים prophets nə·ḇi·’îm לַהֲשִׁיבָ֖ם to bring [the people] back la·hă·šî·ḇām אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֑ה [Him] Yah·weh וַיָּעִ֥ידוּ and to testify way·yā·‘î·ḏū בָ֖ם against them ; ḇām וְלֹ֥א but they would not wə·lō הֶאֱזִֽינוּ׃ס listen . he·’ĕ·zî·nū 2 Chronicles 24:20 וְר֣וּחַ Then the Spirit wə·rū·aḥ אֱלֹהִ֗ים of God ’ĕ·lō·hîm לָֽבְשָׁה֙ came upon lā·ḇə·šāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זְכַרְיָה֙ Zechariah zə·ḵar·yāh בֶּן־ son ben- יְהוֹיָדָ֣ע of Jehoiada yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן the priest , hak·kō·hên וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד who stood up way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ מֵעַ֣ל before mê·‘al לָעָ֑ם the people lā·‘ām וַיֹּ֨אמֶר and said way·yō·mer לָהֶ֜ם to them , lā·hem כֹּ֣ה׀ “ This is what kōh הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar לָמָה֩ ‘ Why lā·māh אַתֶּ֨ם do you ’at·tem עֹבְרִ֜ים transgress ‘ō·ḇə·rîm אֶת־ ’eṯ- מִצְוֺ֤ת the commandments miṣ·wōṯ יְהוָה֙ of YHWH Yah·weh וְלֹ֣א so that you cannot wə·lō תַצְלִ֔יחוּ prosper ? ṯaṣ·lî·ḥū כִּֽי־ Because kî- עֲזַבְתֶּ֥ם you have forsaken ‘ă·zaḇ·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH , Yah·weh וַיַּֽעֲזֹ֥ב He has forsaken way·ya·‘ă·zōḇ אֶתְכֶֽם׃ you . ’” ’eṯ·ḵem 2 Chronicles 24:21 וַיִּקְשְׁר֣וּ But they conspired way·yiq·šə·rū עָלָ֔יו against Zechariah , ‘ā·lāw בְּמִצְוַ֣ת and by order bə·miṣ·waṯ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ of the king , ham·me·leḵ וַיִּרְגְּמֻ֥הוּ they stoned him way·yir·gə·mu·hū אֶ֖בֶן . . . ’e·ḇen בַּחֲצַ֖ר in the courtyard ba·ḥă·ṣar בֵּ֥ית of the house bêṯ יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH . Yah·weh 2 Chronicles 24:22 הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ Thus King ham·me·leḵ יוֹאָ֣שׁ Joash yō·w·’āš וְלֹא־ failed to wə·lō- זָכַ֞ר remember zā·ḵar הַחֶ֙סֶד֙ the kindness ha·ḥe·seḏ אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer אָבִיו֙ Zechariah’s father ’ā·ḇîw
