יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל over Israel , yiś·rā·’êl יְהוֹרָ֥ם Jehoram yə·hō·w·rām בֶּן־ son ben- יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט of Jehoshaphat yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ מָלַ֛ךְ succeeded his father mā·laḵ וִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט . . . wî·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ מֶ֣לֶךְ . . . me·leḵ יְהוּדָ֑ה . . . yə·hū·ḏāh מֶ֥לֶךְ as king me·leḵ יְהוּדָֽה׃ of Judah . yə·hū·ḏāh 2 Kings 8:17 הָיָ֣ה [Jehoram] was hā·yāh שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים thirty-two šə·lō·šîm וּשְׁתַּ֛יִם . . . ū·šə·ta·yim בֶּן־ years old ben- שָׁנָ֖ה . . . šā·nāh בְמָלְכ֑וֹ when he became king , ḇə·mā·lə·ḵōw מָלַ֖ךְ and he reigned mā·laḵ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ in Jerusalem bî·rū·šā·lim וּשְׁמֹנֶ֣ה eight ū·šə·mō·neh שָׁנָה years . šå̄·nå̄h 2 Kings 8:18 וַיֵּ֜לֶךְ And [Jehoram] walked way·yê·leḵ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ׀ in the ways bə·ḏe·reḵ מַלְכֵ֣י of the kings mal·ḵê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר just as ka·’ă·šer בֵּ֣ית the house bêṯ אַחְאָ֔ב of Ahab ’aḥ·’āḇ עָשׂוּ֙ had done . ‘ā·śū כִּ֚י For kî לּ֖וֹ lōw לְאִשָּׁ֑ה he married lə·’iš·šāh בַּת־ a daughter baṯ- אַחְאָ֔ב of Ahab ’aḥ·’āḇ הָֽיְתָה־ - hā·yə·ṯāh- וַיַּ֥עַשׂ and did way·ya·‘aś הָרַ֖ע evil hā·ra‘ בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the sight bə·‘ê·nê יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH . Yah·weh 2 Kings 8:19 לְמַ֖עַן Yet for the sake lə·ma·‘an עַבְדּ֑וֹ of His servant ‘aḇ·dōw דָּוִ֣ד David , dā·wiḏ יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh וְלֹֽא־ was unwilling wə·lō- אָבָ֤ה . . . ’ā·ḇāh לְהַשְׁחִ֣ית to destroy lə·haš·ḥîṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוּדָ֔ה Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר since ka·’ă·šer אָֽמַר־ He had promised ’ā·mar- ל֗וֹ lōw לָתֵ֨ת to maintain lā·ṯêṯ נִ֛יר a lamp nîr ל֥וֹ for David lōw לְבָנָ֖יו [and] his descendants lə·ḇā·nāw כָּל־ forever kāl- הַיָּמִֽים׃ . . . . hay·yā·mîm 2 Kings 8:20 בְּיָמָיו֙ In the days [of Jehoram] , bə·yā·māw אֱד֔וֹם Edom ’ĕ·ḏō·wm פָּשַׁ֣ע rebelled pā·ša‘ מִתַּ֖חַת against mit·ta·ḥaṯ יַד־ the hand yaḏ- יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וַיַּמְלִ֥כוּ and appointed way·yam·li·ḵū עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם their own ‘ă·lê·hem מֶֽלֶךְ׃ king . me·leḵ 2 Kings 8:21 יוֹרָם֙ So Jehoram yō·w·rām וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר crossed over way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr צָעִ֔ירָה to Zair ṣā·‘î·rāh עִמּ֑וֹ with ‘im·mōw וַֽיְהִי־ . . . way·hî- וְכָל־ all wə·ḵāl הָרֶ֖כֶב his chariots . hā·re·ḵeḇ אֱד֜וֹם When the Edomites ’ĕ·ḏō·wm הַסֹּבֵ֤יב surrounded has·sō·ḇêḇ אֵלָיו֙ him ’ê·lāw וְאֵת֙ and wə·’êṯ הָרֶ֔כֶב his chariot hā·re·ḵeḇ שָׂרֵ֣י commanders , śā·rê ה֞וּא he hū קָ֣ם rose up qām וַיַּכֶּ֨ה and attacked way·yak·keh לַ֗יְלָה by night . lay·lāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֖ם His troops, however , hā·‘ām וַיָּ֥נָס fled way·yā·nās
