הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה of the field haś·śā·ḏeh מִיּ֛וֹם from the day mî·yō·wm עָזְבָ֥ה that she left ‘ā·zə·ḇāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֖רֶץ the country hā·’ā·reṣ וְעַד־ until wə·‘aḏ- עָֽתָּה׃פ now . ” ‘āt·tāh 2 Kings 8:7 אֱלִישָׁע֙ Then Elisha ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ וַיָּבֹ֤א came way·yā·ḇō דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק to Damascus dam·me·śeq וּבֶן־ vvv ū·ḇen- הֲדַ֥ד while Ben-hadad hă·ḏaḏ מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- אֲרָ֖ם of Aram ’ă·rām חֹלֶ֑ה was sick , ḥō·leh וַיֻּגַּד־ and the king was told way·yug·gaḏ- ל֣וֹ , lōw לֵאמֹ֔ר - lê·mōr אִ֥ישׁ “ The man ’îš הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים of God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- בָּ֛א has come bā הֵֽנָּה׃ here . ” hên·nāh 2 Kings 8:8 הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ So the king ham·me·leḵ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- חֲזָהאֵ֗ל Hazael , ḥă·zā·h·’êl קַ֤ח “ Take qaḥ מִנְחָ֔ה a gift min·ḥāh בְּיָֽדְךָ֙ in your hand , bə·yā·ḏə·ḵā וְלֵ֕ךְ go wə·lêḵ לִקְרַ֖את to meet liq·raṯ אִ֣ישׁ the man ’îš הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים of God , hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm וְדָרַשְׁתָּ֨ and inquire wə·ḏā·raš·tā אֶת־ of ’eṯ- יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh מֵֽאוֹתוֹ֙ through him mê·’ō·w·ṯōw לֵאמֹ֔ר - , lê·mōr הַאֶחְיֶ֖ה ‘ Will I recover ha·’eḥ·yeh זֶֽה׃ from this zeh מֵחֳלִ֥י illness ? ’” mê·ḥo·lî 2 Kings 8:9 חֲזָאֵל֮ So Hazael ḥă·zā·’êl וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ went way·yê·leḵ לִקְרָאתוֹ֒ to meet Elisha , liq·rā·ṯōw וַיִּקַּ֨ח taking way·yiq·qaḥ בְיָדוֹ֙ with him ḇə·yā·ḏōw מִנְחָ֤ה a gift min·ḥāh אַרְבָּעִ֣ים of forty ’ar·bā·‘îm מַשָּׂ֖א camel loads maś·śā גָּמָ֑ל . . . gā·māl וְכָל־ of every wə·ḵāl ט֣וּב good thing ṭūḇ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק from Damascus . dam·me·śeq וַיָּבֹא֙ And he went in way·yā·ḇō וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד and stood way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ לְפָנָ֔יו before him lə·p̄ā·nāw וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and said , way·yō·mer בִּנְךָ֨ “ Your son bin·ḵā בֶן־ vvv ḇen- הֲדַ֤ד Ben-hadad hă·ḏaḏ מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- אֲרָם֙ of Aram ’ă·rām שְׁלָחַ֤נִי has sent me šə·lā·ḥa·nî אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ . . . ’ê·le·ḵā לֵאמֹ֔ר to ask , lê·mōr הַאֶחְיֶ֖ה ‘ Will I recover ha·’eḥ·yeh זֶֽה׃ from this zeh מֵחֳלִ֥י illness ? ’” mê·ḥo·lî 2 Kings 8:10 אֱלִישָׁ֔ע Elisha ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר answered , way·yō·mer אֵלָיו֙ . . . ’ê·lāw לֵ֥ךְ “ Go lêḵ אֱמָר־ and tell him , ’ĕ·mār- לֹא . . . lō חָיֹ֣ה ‘ You will surely recover ḥā·yōh תִחְיֶ֑ה . . . . ’ ṯiḥ·yeh יְהוָ֖ה But YHWH Yah·weh וְהִרְאַ֥נִי has shown me wə·hir·’a·nî כִּֽי־ that kî- מ֥וֹת in fact mō·wṯ יָמֽוּת׃ he will die . ” yā·mūṯ 2 Kings 8:11 וַיַּעֲמֵ֥ד [Elisha] fixed way·ya·‘ă·mêḏ אֶת־ ’eṯ- פָּנָ֖יו his gaze pā·nāw
