ה֔וּא . . . hū וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ If we wa·’ă·naḥ·nū מַחְשִׁ֗ים are silent maḥ·šîm וְחִכִּ֛ינוּ and wait wə·ḥik·kî·nū עַד־ until ‘aḏ- הַבֹּ֖קֶר morning hab·bō·qer א֥וֹר light , ’ō·wr עָו֑וֹן our sin ‘ā·wō·wn וּמְצָאָ֣נוּ will overtake us . ū·mə·ṣā·’ā·nū וְעַתָּה֙ Now, therefore , wə·‘at·tāh לְכ֣וּ . . . lə·ḵū וְנָבֹ֔אָה let us go wə·nā·ḇō·’āh וְנַגִּ֖ידָה and tell wə·nag·gî·ḏāh הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ the king’s ham·me·leḵ בֵּ֥ית household . ” bêṯ 2 Kings 7:10 וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ So they went way·yā·ḇō·’ū וַֽיִּקְרְאוּ֮ and called out way·yiq·rə·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- שֹׁעֵ֣ר the gatekeepers šō·‘êr הָעִיר֒ of the city , hā·‘îr וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ saying way·yag·gî·ḏū לָהֶם֙ . . . lā·hem לֵאמֹ֔ר . . . , lê·mōr בָּ֚אנוּ “ We went bā·nū אֶל־ to ’el- אֲרָ֔ם the Aramean ’ă·rām וְהִנֵּ֥ה . . . wə·hin·nêh מַחֲנֵ֣ה camp ma·ḥă·nêh אֵֽין־ and no ’ên- אִ֖ישׁ one [was] ’îš שָׁ֛ם there — šām וְק֣וֹל not a trace wə·qō·wl אָדָ֑ם . . . — ’ā·ḏām כִּ֣י kî אִם־ only ’im- אָסוּר֙ tethered ’ā·sūr הַסּ֤וּס horses has·sūs וְהַחֲמ֣וֹר and donkeys wə·ha·ḥă·mō·wr אָס֔וּר . . . , ’ā·sūr וְאֹהָלִ֖ים and the tents wə·’ō·hā·lîm כַּאֲשֶׁר־ - ka·’ă·šer- הֵֽמָּה׃ were intact . ” hêm·māh 2 Kings 7:11 הַשֹּֽׁעֲרִ֑ים The gatekeepers haš·šō·‘ă·rîm וַיִּקְרָ֖א shouted the news , way·yiq·rā וַיַּגִּ֕ידוּ and it was reported way·yag·gî·ḏū הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ to the king’s ham·me·leḵ פְּנִֽימָה׃ . . . pə·nî·māh בֵּ֥ית household . bêṯ 2 Kings 7:12 הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ So the king ham·me·leḵ וַיָּ֨קָם got up way·yā·qām לַ֗יְלָה in the night lay·lāh וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- עֲבָדָ֔יו his servants , ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw אַגִּֽידָה־ “ Let me tell ’ag·gî·ḏāh- נָּ֣א . . . nā לָכֶ֔ם you lā·ḵem אֵ֛ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁר־ what ’ă·šer- אֲרָ֑ם the Arameans ’ă·rām עָ֥שׂוּ have done ‘ā·śū לָ֖נוּ to us . lā·nū יָדְע֞וּ They know yā·ḏə·‘ū כִּי־ kî- אֲנַ֗חְנוּ we ’ă·naḥ·nū רְעֵבִ֣ים are starving , rə·‘ê·ḇîm וַיֵּצְא֤וּ so they have left way·yê·ṣə·’ū מִן־ min- הַֽמַּחֲנֶה֙ the camp ham·ma·ḥă·neh לְהֵחָבֵ֤ה to hide lə·hê·ḥā·ḇêh בְהַשָּׂדֶה in the field , ḇə·haś·śå̄·ḏɛh לֵאמֹ֔ר thinking , lê·mōr כִּֽי־ ‘ When kî- יֵצְא֤וּ they come out yê·ṣə·’ū מִן־ of min- הָעִיר֙ the city , hā·‘îr וְנִתְפְּשֵׂ֣ם we will take them wə·niṯ·pə·śêm חַיִּ֔ים alive ḥay·yîm נָבֹֽא׃ and enter nā·ḇō וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- הָעִ֖יר the city . ’” hā·‘îr 2 Kings 7:13 אֶחָ֨ד But one ’e·ḥāḏ מֵעֲבָדָ֜יו of his servants mê·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw וַיֹּ֗אמֶר . . . way·yō·mer וַיַּעַן֩ replied , way·ya·‘an נָ֞א “ Please , nā וְיִקְחוּ־ have [scouts] take wə·yiq·ḥū- חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה five ḥă·miš·šāh
