עַל־ on ‘al- הַחֹמָ֑ה the wall , ha·ḥō·māh הָעָ֔ם the people hā·‘ām וַיַּ֣רְא saw way·yar וְהִנֵּ֥ה vvv wə·hin·nêh הַשַּׂ֛ק the sackcloth haś·śaq מִבָּֽיִת׃ under his clothes mib·bā·yiṯ עַל־ next to ‘al- בְּשָׂר֖וֹ his skin . bə·śā·rōw 2 Kings 6:31 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר He announced , way·yō·mer אֱלֹהִ֖ים “ May God ’ĕ·lō·hîm כֹּֽה־ punish kōh- יַעֲשֶׂה־ . . . ya·‘ă·śeh- לִּ֥י me , lî וְכֹ֣ה and ever so wə·ḵōh יוֹסִ֑ף severely , yō·w·sip̄ אִֽם־ if ’im- רֹ֣אשׁ the head rōš אֱלִישָׁ֧ע of Elisha ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ בֶּן־ son ben- שָׁפָ֛ט of Shaphat šā·p̄āṭ יַעֲמֹ֞ד remains ya·‘ă·mōḏ עָלָ֖יו on his shoulders ‘ā·lāw הַיּֽוֹם׃ through this day ! ” hay·yō·wm 2 Kings 6:32 וֶאֱלִישָׁע֙ Now Elisha we·’ĕ·lî·šā‘ יֹשֵׁ֣ב was sitting yō·šêḇ בְּבֵית֔וֹ in his house , bə·ḇê·ṯōw וְהַזְּקֵנִ֖ים and the elders wə·haz·zə·qê·nîm יֹשְׁבִ֣ים were sitting yō·šə·ḇîm אִתּ֑וֹ with him . ’it·tōw וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח The king sent way·yiš·laḥ אִ֜ישׁ a messenger ’îš מִלְּפָנָ֗יו ahead , mil·lə·p̄ā·nāw בְּטֶ֣רֶם but before bə·ṭe·rem הַמַּלְאָ֨ךְ [he] ham·mal·’āḵ יָבֹא֩ arrived yā·ḇō אֵלָ֜יו . . . , ’ê·lāw וְה֣וּא׀ Elisha wə·hū אָמַ֣ר said ’ā·mar אֶל־ to ’el- הַזְּקֵנִ֗ים the elders , haz·zə·qê·nîm הַרְּאִיתֶם֙ “ Do you see har·rə·’î·ṯem כִּֽי־ how kî- הַזֶּה֙ this haz·zeh בֶּן־ murderer ben- הַֽמְרַצֵּ֤חַ . . . ham·raṣ·ṣê·aḥ שָׁלַ֞ח has sent šā·laḥ לְהָסִ֣יר someone to cut off lə·hā·sîr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רֹאשִׁ֔י my head ? rō·šî רְא֣וּ׀ Look , rə·’ū הַמַּלְאָ֗ךְ when the messenger ham·mal·’āḵ כְּבֹ֣א comes , kə·ḇō סִגְר֤וּ shut siḡ·rū הַדֶּ֙לֶת֙ the door had·de·leṯ וּלְחַצְתֶּ֤ם to keep him out . ū·lə·ḥaṣ·tem אֹתוֹ֙ - ’ō·ṯōw בַּדֶּ֔לֶת - bad·de·leṯ הֲל֗וֹא Is not hă·lō·w ק֛וֹל the sound qō·wl אֲדֹנָ֖יו of his master’s ’ă·ḏō·nāw רַגְלֵ֥י footsteps raḡ·lê אַחֲרָֽיו׃ behind him ? ” ’a·ḥă·rāw 2 Kings 6:33 עוֹדֶ֙נּוּ֙ While Elisha was still ‘ō·w·ḏen·nū מְדַבֵּ֣ר speaking mə·ḏab·bêr עִמָּ֔ם with them , ‘im·mām וְהִנֵּ֥ה . . . wə·hin·nêh הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ the messenger ham·mal·’āḵ יֹרֵ֣ד came down yō·rêḏ אֵלָ֑יו to him . ’ê·lāw וַיֹּ֗אמֶר And [the king] said , way·yō·mer הִנֵּֽה־ . . . hin·nêh- זֹ֤את “ This zōṯ הָֽרָעָה֙ calamity [is] hā·rā·‘āh מֵאֵ֣ת from mê·’êṯ יְהוָ֔ה YHWH . Yah·weh מָֽה־ Why māh- אוֹחִ֥יל should I wait ’ō·w·ḥîl לַיהוָ֖ה for YHWH Yah·weh עֽוֹד׃ס any longer ? ” ‘ō·wḏ 2 Kings 7:1 אֱלִישָׁ֔ע Then Elisha ’ĕ·lî·šā‘ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said , way·yō·mer שִׁמְע֖וּ “ Hear šim·‘ū דְּבַר־ the word də·ḇar- יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH ! Yah·weh כֹּ֣ה׀ This is what kōh יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar
