וַיֹּ֖אמֶר and said , way·yō·mer הַכֵּ֣ינִי “ Strike me , hak·kê·nî נָ֑א please ! ” nā הָאִ֖ישׁ So the man hā·’îš וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ struck him way·yak·kê·hū הַכֵּ֥ה and wounded him hak·kêh וּפָצֹֽעַ׃ . . . , ū·p̄ā·ṣō·a‘ 1 Kings 20:38 הַנָּבִ֔יא and the prophet han·nā·ḇî וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ went way·yê·leḵ וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד and waited way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ עַל־ on ‘al- הַדָּ֑רֶךְ the road had·dā·reḵ לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ for the king , lam·me·leḵ וַיִּתְחַפֵּ֥שׂ disguising himself way·yiṯ·ḥap·pêś בָּאֲפֵ֖ר with a bandage bā·’ă·p̄êr עַל־ over ‘al- עֵינָֽיו׃ his eyes . ‘ê·nāw 1 Kings 20:39 וַיְהִ֤י - way·hî הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ As the king ham·me·leḵ עֹבֵ֔ר passed by , ‘ō·ḇêr וְה֖וּא he wə·hū צָעַ֣ק cried out ṣā·‘aq אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר - : way·yō·mer עַבְדְּךָ֣׀ “ Your servant ‘aḇ·də·ḵā יָצָ֣א had marched out yā·ṣā בְקֶֽרֶב־ into the middle ḇə·qe·reḇ- הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה of the battle , ham·mil·ḥā·māh וְהִנֵּֽה־ when suddenly wə·hin·nêh- אִ֨ישׁ a man ’îš סָ֜ר came over sār וַיָּבֵ֧א with way·yā·ḇê אִ֗ישׁ a captive ’îš וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and told way·yō·mer אֵלַ֣י me , ’ê·lay שְׁמֹר֙ ‘ Guard šə·mōr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh הָאִ֣ישׁ man ! hā·’îš אִם־ If ’im- יִפָּקֵ֔ד he goes missing yip·pā·qêḏ הִפָּקֵד֙ for any reason , hip·pā·qêḏ נַפְשְׁךָ֙ your life nap̄·šə·ḵā וְהָיְתָ֤ה will be exchanged wə·hā·yə·ṯāh תַּ֣חַת for ta·ḥaṯ נַפְשׁ֔וֹ his life , nap̄·šōw א֥וֹ or ’ōw תִּשְׁקֽוֹל׃ you will weigh out tiš·qō·wl כִכַּר־ a talent ḵik·kar- כֶּ֖סֶף of silver . ’ ke·sep̄ 1 Kings 20:40 עַבְדְּךָ֗ But while your servant ‘aḇ·də·ḵā וַיְהִ֣י was way·hî עֹשֵׂ֥ה busy ‘ō·śêh הֵ֛נָּה here hên·nāh וָהֵ֖נָּה and there , wā·hên·nāh וְה֣וּא [the man] wə·hū אֵינֶ֑נּוּ disappeared . ” ’ê·nen·nū מֶֽלֶךְ־ And the king me·leḵ- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֵלָ֧יו to him , ’ê·lāw כֵּ֥ן “ So kên מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖ךָ [shall] your judgment [be] ; miš·pā·ṭe·ḵā חָרָֽצְתָּ׃ you have pronounced it ḥā·rā·ṣə·tā אַתָּ֥ה on yourself . ” ’at·tāh 1 Kings 20:41 וַיְמַהֵ֕ר Then [the prophet] quickly way·ma·hêr וַיָּ֙סַר֙ removed way·yā·sar אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָ֣אֲפֵ֔ר the bandage hā·’ă·p̄êr מֵעַל from mē·ʿal עֵינָ֑יו his eyes , ‘ê·nāw מֶ֣לֶךְ and the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיַּכֵּ֤ר recognized way·yak·kêr אֹתוֹ֙ him ’ō·ṯōw כִּ֥י as kî הֽוּא׃ - hū מֵֽהַנְּבִאִ֖ים one of the prophets . mê·han·nə·ḇi·’îm 1 Kings 20:42 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר And [the prophet] said way·yō·mer אֵלָ֗יו to [the king] , ’ê·lāw כֹּ֚ה “ This is what kōh יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar יַ֛עַן ‘ Because ya·‘an
