תְּחִֽי־ spare tə·ḥî- נַפְשִׁ֑י my life . ’” nap̄·šî וַיֹּ֛אמֶר And [the king] answered , way·yō·mer הַעוֹדֶ֥נּוּ “ Is he still ha·‘ō·w·ḏen·nū חַ֖י alive ? ḥay הֽוּא׃ He hū אָחִ֥י is my brother . ” ’ā·ḥî 1 Kings 20:33 וְהָאֲנָשִׁים֩ Now the men wə·hā·’ă·nā·šîm יְנַחֲשׁ֨וּ were looking for a sign of hope , yə·na·ḥă·šū וַֽיְמַהֲר֜וּ and they quickly way·ma·hă·rū וַיַּחְלְט֣וּ grasped [at this word] way·yaḥ·lə·ṭū הֲמִמֶּ֗נּוּ . . . hă·mim·men·nū וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ and replied , way·yō·mə·rū אָחִ֣יךָ “ Yes, your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā בֶן־ vvv ḇen- הֲדַ֔ד Ben-hadad . ” hă·ḏaḏ בֹּ֣אוּ “ Go bō·’ū קָחֻ֑הוּ and get him ! ” qā·ḥu·hū וַיֹּ֖אמֶר said [the king] . way·yō·mer בֶּן־ vvv ben- הֲדַ֔ד Then Ben-hadad hă·ḏaḏ וַיֵּצֵ֤א came out way·yê·ṣê אֵלָיו֙ - , ’ê·lāw וַֽיַּעֲלֵ֖הוּ and Ahab had him come up way·ya·‘ă·lê·hū עַל־ into ‘al- הַמֶּרְכָּבָֽה׃ his chariot . ham·mer·kā·ḇāh 1 Kings 20:34 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר Ben-hadad said way·yō·mer אֵלָ֡יו to him , ’ê·lāw אָשִׁ֗יב “ I will restore ’ā·šîḇ הֶעָרִ֣ים the cities he·‘ā·rîm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אָבִי֩ my father ’ā·ḇî לָֽקַח־ took lā·qaḥ- מֵאֵ֨ת from mê·’êṯ אָבִ֜יךָ your father ; ’ā·ḇî·ḵā תָּשִׂ֨ים you may set up tā·śîm לְךָ֤ your own lə·ḵā וְ֠חוּצוֹת marketplaces wə·ḥū·ṣō·wṯ בְדַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙ in Damascus , ḇə·ḏam·me·śeq כַּאֲשֶׁר־ as ka·’ă·šer- אָבִי֙ my father ’ā·ḇî שָׂ֤ם [did] śām בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן in Samaria . ” bə·šō·mə·rō·wn בַּבְּרִ֣ית “ By this treaty bab·bə·rîṯ וַאֲנִ֖י I wa·’ă·nî אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֑ךָּ release you ,” [Ahab replied] . ’ă·šal·lə·ḥe·kā וַיִּכְרָת־ So he made way·yiḵ·rāṯ- בְרִ֖ית a treaty ḇə·rîṯ ל֥וֹ with him lōw וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃ס and sent him away . way·šal·lə·ḥê·hū 1 Kings 20:35 בִּדְבַ֥ר Meanwhile, by the word biḏ·ḇar יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH , Yah·weh וְאִ֨ישׁ vvv wə·’îš אֶחָ֜ד one ’e·ḥāḏ מִבְּנֵ֣י of the sons mib·bə·nê הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים of the prophets han·nə·ḇî·’îm אָמַ֧ר said ’ā·mar אֶל־ to ’el- רֵעֵ֛הוּ his companion , rê·‘ê·hū הַכֵּ֣ינִי “ Strike me , hak·kê·nî נָ֑א please ! ” nā וַיְמָאֵ֥ן But [the man] refused way·mā·’ên הָאִ֖ישׁ . . . hā·’îš לְהַכֹּתֽוֹ׃ to strike him . lə·hak·kō·ṯōw 1 Kings 20:36 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר Then [the prophet] said way·yō·mer ל֗וֹ to him , lōw יַ֚עַן “ Because ya·‘an אֲשֶׁ֤ר - ’ă·šer לֹֽא־ you have not lō- שָׁמַ֙עְתָּ֙ obeyed šā·ma‘·tā בְּק֣וֹל the voice bə·qō·wl יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh הִנְּךָ֤ as soon as hin·nə·ḵā הוֹלֵךְ֙ you depart hō·w·lêḵ מֵֽאִתִּ֔י from me mê·’it·tî הָאַרְיֵ֑ה a lion hā·’ar·yêh וְהִכְּךָ֖ will kill you . ” wə·hik·kə·ḵā וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ And when he left way·yê·leḵ מֵֽאֶצְל֔וֹ . . . , mê·’eṣ·lōw הָאַרְיֵ֖ה a lion hā·’ar·yêh וַיִּמְצָאֵ֥הוּ found him way·yim·ṣā·’ê·hū וַיַּכֵּֽהוּ׃ and killed him . way·yak·kê·hū 1 Kings 20:37 וַיִּמְצָא֙ Then the prophet found way·yim·ṣā אַחֵ֔ר another ’a·ḥêr אִ֣ישׁ man ’îš
