1 Kings 20:19 וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ Meanwhile, these wə·’êl·leh נַעֲרֵ֖י young officers na·‘ă·rê הַמְּדִינ֑וֹת of the district ham·mə·ḏî·nō·wṯ שָׂרֵ֣י governors śā·rê יָצְא֣וּ marched out yā·ṣə·’ū מִן־ of min- הָעִ֔יר the city , hā·‘îr וְהַחַ֖יִל with the army wə·ha·ḥa·yil אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ behind them , ’a·ḥă·rê·hem 1 Kings 20:20 אִ֣ישׁ and each ’îš וַיַּכּוּ֙ one struck down way·yak·kū אִישׁ֔וֹ his opponent . ’î·šōw אֲרָ֔ם So the Arameans ’ă·rām וַיָּנֻ֣סוּ fled , way·yā·nu·sū יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל with the Israelites yiś·rā·’êl וַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֖ם in pursuit . way·yir·də·p̄êm הֲדַד֙ But Ben-hadad hă·ḏaḏ מֶ֣לֶךְ king me·leḵ אֲרָ֔ם of Aram ’ă·rām וַיִּמָּלֵ֗ט escaped way·yim·mā·lêṭ בֶּן־ ben- עַל־ on ‘al- ס֖וּס horseback sūs וּפָרָשִֽׁים׃ with the cavalry . ū·p̄ā·rā·šîm 1 Kings 20:21 מֶ֣לֶךְ Then the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֵּצֵא֙ marched out way·yê·ṣê וַיַּ֥ךְ and attacked way·yaḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַסּ֖וּס the horses has·sūs וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָרָ֑כֶב and chariots , hā·rā·ḵeḇ וְהִכָּ֥ה inflicting wə·hik·kāh גְדוֹלָֽה׃ a great ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh מַכָּ֥ה slaughter mak·kāh בַאֲרָ֖ם on the Arameans . ḇa·’ă·rām 1 Kings 20:22 הַנָּבִיא֙ Afterward, the prophet han·nā·ḇî אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיִּגַּ֤שׁ approached way·yig·gaš מֶ֣לֶךְ the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּ֤אמֶר and said way·yō·mer לוֹ֙ , lōw לֵ֣ךְ “ Go lêḵ הִתְחַזַּ֔ק and strengthen [your position] , hiṯ·ḥaz·zaq וְדַ֥ע and take note wə·ḏa‘ וּרְאֵ֖ה . . . ū·rə·’êh אֵ֣ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶֽׁר־ what ’ă·šer- תַּעֲשֶׂ֑ה you must do , ta·‘ă·śeh כִּ֚י for kî לִתְשׁוּבַ֣ת in the spring liṯ·šū·ḇaṯ הַשָּׁנָ֔ה . . . haš·šā·nāh מֶ֥לֶךְ the king me·leḵ אֲרָ֖ם of Aram ’ă·rām עֹלֶ֥ה will come up ‘ō·leh עָלֶֽיךָ׃ס against you . ” ‘ā·le·ḵā 1 Kings 20:23 וְעַבְדֵ֨י Meanwhile, the servants wə·‘aḇ·ḏê מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the king me·leḵ- אֲרָ֜ם of Aram ’ă·rām אָמְר֣וּ said ’ā·mə·rū אֵלָ֗יו to him , ’ê·lāw אֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם “ Their gods [are] ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem אֱלֹהֵ֤י gods ’ĕ·lō·hê הָרִים֙ of the hills . hā·rîm עַל־ That is why ‘al- כֵּ֖ן . . . kên חָזְק֣וּ they prevailed ḥā·zə·qū מִמֶּ֑נּוּ over us . mim·men·nū וְאוּלָ֗ם Instead , wə·’ū·lām נִלָּחֵ֤ם we should fight nil·lā·ḥêm אִתָּם֙ them ’it·tām בַּמִּישׁ֔וֹר on the plains ; bam·mî·šō·wr אִם־ surely then ’im- לֹ֥א lō נֶחֱזַ֖ק we will prevail ne·ḥĕ·zaq מֵהֶֽם׃ . mê·hem 1 Kings 20:24 וְאֶת־ So wə·’eṯ- הַדָּבָ֥ר - had·dā·ḇār עֲשֵׂ֑ה do ‘ă·śêh הַזֶּ֖ה this : haz·zeh הָסֵ֤ר Dismiss hā·sêr
