1 Kings 20:9 וַיֹּ֜אמֶר So [Ahab] answered way·yō·mer לְמַלְאֲכֵ֣י the messengers lə·mal·’ă·ḵê בֶן־ vvv ḇen- הֲדַ֗ד of Ben-hadad , hă·ḏaḏ אִמְר֞וּ “ Tell ’im·rū לַֽאדֹנִ֤י my lord la·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king , ham·me·leḵ כֹּל֩ ‘ All kōl אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- שָׁלַ֨חְתָּ you demanded šā·laḥ·tā אֶל־ of ’el- עַבְדְּךָ֤ your servant ‘aḇ·də·ḵā בָרִֽאשֹׁנָה֙ the first time ḇā·ri·šō·nāh אֶעֱשֶׂ֔ה I will do , ’e·‘ĕ·śeh הַזֶּ֔ה but this haz·zeh וְהַדָּבָ֣ר thing wə·had·dā·ḇār לֹ֥א I cannot lō אוּכַ֖ל . . . ’ū·ḵal לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת do . ’” la·‘ă·śō·wṯ הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים So the messengers ham·mal·’ā·ḵîm וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ departed way·yê·lə·ḵū דָּבָֽר׃ and relayed the message to [Ben-hadad] dā·ḇār וַיְשִׁבֻ֖הוּ . . . . way·ši·ḇu·hū 1 Kings 20:10 הֲדַ֔ד Then Ben-hadad hă·ḏaḏ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח sent way·yiš·laḥ בֶּן־ ben- וַיֹּ֕אמֶר another message way·yō·mer אֵלָיו֙ to [Ahab] : ’ê·lāw אֱלֹהִ֖ים “ May the gods ’ĕ·lō·hîm כֹּֽה־ deal kōh- יַעֲשׂ֥וּן ya·‘ă·śūn לִ֛י with me , lî וְכֹ֣ה and ever so wə·ḵōh יוֹסִ֑פוּ severely , yō·w·si·p̄ū אִם־ if ’im- עֲפַ֣ר [enough] dust ‘ă·p̄ar יִשְׂפֹּק֙ remains yiś·pōq שֹׁמְר֔וֹן of Samaria šō·mə·rō·wn לְכָל־ for each lə·ḵāl הָעָ֖ם of my men hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer בְּרַגְלָֽי׃ - bə·raḡ·lāy לִשְׁעָלִ֕ים [to have] a handful . ” liš·‘ā·lîm 1 Kings 20:11 מֶֽלֶךְ־ And the king me·leḵ- יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּ֣אמֶר . . . way·yō·mer וַיַּ֤עַן replied , way·ya·‘an דַּבְּר֔וּ “ Tell him : dab·bə·rū חֹגֵ֖ר ‘ The one putting on [his armor] ḥō·ḡêr אַל־ should not ’al- יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל boast yiṯ·hal·lêl כִּמְפַתֵּֽחַ׃ like one taking [it off] . ’” kim·p̄at·tê·aḥ 1 Kings 20:12 וַיְהִ֗י - way·hî כִּשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙ Ben-hadad received kiš·mō·a‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh הַדָּבָ֣ר message had·dā·ḇār וְה֥וּא while he wə·hū וְהַמְּלָכִ֖ים and the kings wə·ham·mə·lā·ḵîm שֹׁתֶ֛ה were drinking šō·ṯeh ה֥וּא . . . hū בַּסֻּכּ֑וֹת in their tents , bas·suk·kō·wṯ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר and he said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- עֲבָדָיו֙ his servants , ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw שִׂ֔ימוּ “ Take your positions . ” śî·mū וַיָּשִׂ֖ימוּ So they stationed themselves way·yā·śî·mū עַל־ against ‘al- הָעִֽיר׃ the city . hā·‘îr 1 Kings 20:13 וְהִנֵּ֣ה׀ Meanwhile wə·hin·nêh אֶחָ֗ד a ’e·ḥāḏ נָבִ֣יא prophet nā·ḇî נִגַּשׁ֮ approached nig·gaš אֶל־ . . . ’el- אַחְאָ֣ב Ahab ’aḥ·’āḇ מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and declared , way·yō·mer כֹּ֚ה “ This is what kōh יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֣ר says : ’ā·mar הְֽרָאִ֔יתָ ‘ Do you see hə·rā·’î·ṯā אֵ֛ת - ’êṯ הַזֶּ֑ה this haz·zeh כָּל־ entire kāl-
