Genesis 4:11 וְעַתָּ֖ה Now wə·‘at·tāh אָ֑תָּה you ’āt·tāh אָר֣וּר [are] cursed and banished ’ā·rūr מִן־ from min- הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ the ground , hā·’ă·ḏā·māh אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ’ă·šer פָּצְתָ֣ה has opened pā·ṣə·ṯāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פִּ֔יהָ its mouth pî·hā לָקַ֛חַת to receive lā·qa·ḥaṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אָחִ֖יךָ your brother’s ’ā·ḥî·ḵā דְּמֵ֥י blood də·mê מִיָּדֶֽךָ׃ from your hand . mî·yā·ḏe·ḵā Genesis 4:12 כִּ֤י When kî תַֽעֲבֹד֙ you till ṯa·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה the ground , hā·’ă·ḏā·māh לֹֽא־ {it will} no lō- תֹסֵ֥ף longer ṯō·sêp̄ תֵּת־ yield têṯ- כֹּחָ֖הּ its produce kō·ḥāh לָ֑ךְ to you . lāḵ תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה You will be tih·yeh נָ֥ע a fugitive nā‘ וָנָ֖ד and a wanderer wā·nāḏ בָאָֽרֶץ׃ on the earth . ” ḇā·’ā·reṣ Genesis 4:13 קַ֖יִן But Cain qa·yin וַיֹּ֥אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֑ה YHWH , Yah·weh עֲוֺנִ֖י “ My punishment ‘ă·wō·nî גָּד֥וֹל [is] greater gā·ḏō·wl מִנְּשֹֽׂא׃ than I can bear . min·nə·śō Genesis 4:14 הֵן֩ Behold , hên אֹתִ֜י this ’ō·ṯî הַיּ֗וֹם day hay·yō·wm גֵּרַ֨שְׁתָּ You have driven me gê·raš·tā פְּנֵ֣י from the face pə·nê הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה of the earth , hā·’ă·ḏā·māh מֵעַל֙ and from mê·‘al וּמִפָּנֶ֖יךָ Your face ū·mip·pā·ne·ḵā אֶסָּתֵ֑ר I will be hidden ; ’es·sā·ṯêr וְהָיִ֜יתִי I {will} be wə·hā·yî·ṯî נָ֤ע a fugitive nā‘ וָנָד֙ and a wanderer wā·nāḏ בָּאָ֔רֶץ on the earth , bā·’ā·reṣ וְהָיָ֥ה and wə·hā·yāh כָל־ whoever ḵāl מֹצְאִ֖י finds me mō·ṣə·’î יַֽהַרְגֵֽנִי׃ {will} kill me . ” ya·har·ḡê·nî Genesis 4:15 לָכֵן֙ “ Not so ! ” lā·ḵên וַיֹּ֧אמֶר replied way·yō·mer יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh ל֣וֹ - . lōw כָּל־ “ If anyone kāl- הֹרֵ֣ג slays hō·rêḡ קַ֔יִן Cain , qa·yin יֻקָּ֑ם [then Cain] will be avenged yuq·qām שִׁבְעָתַ֖יִם sevenfold . ” šiḇ·‘ā·ṯa·yim יְהוָ֤ה And YHWH Yah·weh וַיָּ֨שֶׂם placed way·yā·śem א֔וֹת a mark ’ō·wṯ לְקַ֙יִן֙ on Cain , lə·qa·yin לְבִלְתִּ֥י so that no one lə·ḇil·tî כָּל־ . . . kāl- מֹצְאֽוֹ׃ who found him mō·ṣə·’ōw הַכּוֹת־ would kill hak·kō·wṯ- אֹת֖וֹ him . ’ō·ṯōw Genesis 4:16 קַ֖יִן So Cain qa·yin וַיֵּ֥צֵא went out way·yê·ṣê מִלִּפְנֵ֣י from the presence mil·lip̄·nê יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב and settled way·yê·šeḇ בְּאֶֽרֶץ־ in the land bə·’e·reṣ- נ֖וֹד of Nod , nō·wḏ קִדְמַת־ east qiḏ·maṯ- עֵֽדֶן׃ of Eden . ‘ê·ḏen Genesis 4:17 קַ֙יִן֙ And Cain qa·yin
