כֵּ֡ן . . . kên עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּ֑ה this haz·zeh הַיּ֣וֹם day hay·yō·wm בְנֵֽי־ the Israelites ḇə·nê- יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל . . . yiś·rā·’êl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- לֹֽא־ do not lō- יֹאכְל֨וּ eat yō·ḵə·lū גִּ֣יד the tendon gîḏ הַנָּשֶׁ֗ה . . . han·nā·šeh אֲשֶׁר֙ which [is] ’ă·šer עַל־ at ‘al- כַּ֣ף the socket kap̄ הַיָּרֵ֔ךְ of the hip , hay·yā·rêḵ כִּ֤י because kî בְּכַף־ the socket bə·ḵap̄- יַעֲקֹ֔ב of Jacob’s ya·‘ă·qōḇ יֶ֣רֶךְ hip ye·reḵ נָגַע֙ was struck nā·ḡa‘ בְּגִ֖יד near that tendon bə·ḡîḏ הַנָּשֶֽׁה׃ . . . . han·nā·šeh Genesis 33:1 יַעֲקֹ֜ב Now Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיִּשָּׂ֨א looked up way·yiś·śā עֵינָ֗יו . . . ‘ê·nāw וַיַּרְא֙ and saw way·yar וְהִנֵּ֣ה . . . wə·hin·nêh עֵשָׂ֣ו Esau ‘ê·śāw בָּ֔א coming bā וְעִמּ֕וֹ toward him with wə·‘im·mōw אַרְבַּ֥ע four ’ar·ba‘ מֵא֖וֹת hundred mê·’ō·wṯ אִ֑ישׁ men . ’îš וַיַּ֣חַץ So he divided way·ya·ḥaṣ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיְלָדִ֗ים the children hay·lā·ḏîm עַל־ . . . ‘al- לֵאָה֙ among Leah , lê·’āh וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- רָחֵ֔ל Rachel , rā·ḥêl וְעַ֖ל . . . wə·‘al שְׁתֵּ֥י and the two šə·tê הַשְּׁפָחֽוֹת׃ maidservants . haš·šə·p̄ā·ḥō·wṯ Genesis 33:2 וַיָּ֧שֶׂם He put way·yā·śem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַשְּׁפָח֛וֹת the maidservants haš·šə·p̄ā·ḥō·wṯ וְאֶת־ and their wə·’eṯ- יַלְדֵיהֶ֖ן children yal·ḏê·hen רִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה in front , ri·šō·nāh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לֵאָ֤ה Leah lê·’āh וִֽילָדֶ֙יהָ֙ and her children wî·lā·ḏe·hā אַחֲרֹנִ֔ים next , ’a·ḥă·rō·nîm וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- רָחֵ֥ל and Rachel rā·ḥêl וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- יוֹסֵ֖ף and Joseph yō·w·sêp̄ אַחֲרֹנִֽים׃ at the rear . ’a·ḥă·rō·nîm Genesis 33:3 וְה֖וּא But [Jacob] himself wə·hū עָבַ֣ר went on ‘ā·ḇar לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם ahead lip̄·nê·hem וַיִּשְׁתַּ֤חוּ and bowed way·yiš·ta·ḥū אַ֙רְצָה֙ to the ground ’ar·ṣāh שֶׁ֣בַע seven še·ḇa‘ פְּעָמִ֔ים times pə·‘ā·mîm עַד־ as ‘aḏ- גִּשְׁתּ֖וֹ he approached giš·tōw עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- אָחִֽיו׃ his brother . ’ā·ḥîw Genesis 33:4 עֵשָׂ֤ו Esau, however , ‘ê·śāw לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ . . . liq·rā·ṯōw וַיָּ֨רָץ ran to him way·yā·rāṣ וַֽיְחַבְּקֵ֔הוּ and embraced him , way·ḥab·bə·qê·hū וַיִּפֹּ֥ל threw his arms around way·yip·pōl עַל־ . . . ‘al- צַוָּארָ֖ו his neck , ṣaw·wå̄·rå̄w וַׄיִּׄשָּׁׄקֵ֑ׄהׄוּׄ and kissed him . way·yiš·šå̄·qē·hū וַיִּבְכּֽוּ׃ And they both wept . way·yiḇ·kū Genesis 33:5 וַיִּשָּׂ֣א When Esau looked up way·yiś·śā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֵינָ֗יו - ‘ê·nāw וַיַּ֤רְא and saw way·yar אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַנָּשִׁים֙ the women han·nā·šîm וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ-
