יַעֲקֹב֙ [he] ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said , way·yō·mer זֶ֑ה “ This zeh מַחֲנֵ֥ה is the camp ma·ḥă·nêh אֱלֹהִ֖ים of God . ” ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיִּקְרָ֛א So he named way·yiq·rā שֵֽׁם־ . . . šêm- הַה֖וּא that ha·hū הַמָּק֥וֹם place ham·mā·qō·wm מַֽחֲנָֽיִם׃פ Mahanaim . ma·ḥă·nā·yim Genesis 32:3 יַעֲקֹ֤ב Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח sent way·yiš·laḥ מַלְאָכִים֙ messengers mal·’ā·ḵîm לְפָנָ֔יו ahead of him lə·p̄ā·nāw אֶל־ to ’el- אָחִ֑יו his brother ’ā·ḥîw עֵשָׂ֖ו Esau ‘ê·śāw אַ֥רְצָה in the land ’ar·ṣāh שֵׂעִ֖יר of Seir , śê·‘îr שְׂדֵ֥ה the country śə·ḏêh אֱדֽוֹם׃ of Edom . ’ĕ·ḏō·wm Genesis 32:4 וַיְצַ֤ו He instructed them , way·ṣaw אֹתָם֙ - ’ō·ṯām לֵאמֹ֔ר “ You are to say lê·mōr כֹּ֣ה . . . kōh תֹאמְר֔וּן . . . ṯō·mə·rūn לַֽאדֹנִ֖י to my master la·ḏō·nî לְעֵשָׂ֑ו Esau lə·‘ê·śāw כֹּ֤ה . . . , kōh עַבְדְּךָ֣ ‘ Your servant ‘aḇ·də·ḵā יַעֲקֹ֔ב Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ אָמַר֙ says : ’ā·mar גַּ֔רְתִּי I have been staying gar·tî עִם־ with ‘im- לָבָ֣ן Laban lā·ḇān וָאֵחַ֖ר and have remained there wā·’ê·ḥar עַד־ until ‘aḏ- עָֽתָּה׃ now . ‘āt·tāh Genesis 32:5 וַֽיְהִי־ I have way·hî- לִי֙ lî שׁ֣וֹר oxen , šō·wr וַחֲמ֔וֹר donkeys , wa·ḥă·mō·wr צֹ֖אן flocks , ṣōn וְעֶ֣בֶד menservants , wə·‘e·ḇeḏ וְשִׁפְחָ֑ה and maidservants . wə·šip̄·ḥāh וָֽאֶשְׁלְחָה֙ I have sent wā·’eš·lə·ḥāh לְהַגִּ֣יד this message to inform lə·hag·gîḏ לַֽאדֹנִ֔י my master , la·ḏō·nî לִמְצֹא־ so that I may find lim·ṣō- חֵ֖ן favor ḥên בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ in your sight . ’” bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā Genesis 32:6 הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים When the messengers ham·mal·’ā·ḵîm וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ returned way·yā·šu·ḇū אֶֽל־ to ’el- יַעֲקֹ֖ב Jacob , ya·‘ă·qōḇ לֵאמֹ֑ר they said , lê·mōr בָּ֤אנוּ “ We went bā·nū אֶל־ to ’el- אָחִ֙יךָ֙ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā אֶל־ . . . ’el- עֵשָׂ֔ו Esau , ‘ê·śāw וְגַם֙ and now wə·ḡam הֹלֵ֣ךְ he is coming hō·lêḵ לִקְרָֽאתְךָ֔ to meet you — liq·rā·ṯə·ḵā וְאַרְבַּע־ he and four wə·’ar·ba‘- מֵא֥וֹת hundred mê·’ō·wṯ אִ֖ישׁ men ’îš עִמּֽוֹ׃ with him . ” ‘im·mōw Genesis 32:7 מְאֹ֖ד In great mə·’ōḏ וַיִּירָ֧א fear way·yî·rā וַיֵּ֣צֶר and distress , way·yê·ṣer ל֑וֹ lōw יַעֲקֹ֛ב Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיַּ֜חַץ divided way·ya·ḥaṣ אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אִתּ֗וֹ his ’it·tōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֣ם people hā·‘ām וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- לִשְׁנֵ֥י into two liš·nê מַחֲנֽוֹת׃ camps , ma·ḥă·nō·wṯ הַצֹּ֧אן as well as the flocks haṣ·ṣōn וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הַבָּקָ֛ר and herds hab·bā·qār וְהַגְּמַלִּ֖ים and camels . wə·hag·gə·mal·lîm
