2 Samuel 17:20 אַבְשָׁל֨וֹם When Absalom’s ’aḇ·šā·lō·wm עַבְדֵי֩ servants ‘aḇ·ḏê וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ came way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶֽל־ to ’el- הָאִשָּׁ֜ה the woman hā·’iš·šāh הַבַּ֗יְתָה at the house , hab·bay·ṯāh וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ they asked , way·yō·mə·rū אַיֵּ֗ה “ Where ’ay·yêh אֲחִימַ֙עַץ֙ are Ahimaaz ’ă·ḥî·ma·‘aṣ וִיה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן and Jonathan ? ” wî·hō·w·nā·ṯān עָבְר֖וּ “ They have crossed over ‘ā·ḇə·rū מִיכַ֣ל the brook mî·ḵal הַמָּ֑יִם . . . , ” ham·mā·yim הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה she hā·’iš·šāh וַתֹּ֤אמֶר replied wat·tō·mer לָהֶם֙ . lā·hem וַיְבַקְשׁוּ֙ The men searched way·ḇaq·šū וְלֹ֣א but did not wə·lō מָצָ֔אוּ find [them] , mā·ṣā·’ū וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ so they returned way·yā·šu·ḇū יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ס to Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim 2 Samuel 17:21 וַיְהִ֣י׀ - way·hî אַחֲרֵ֣י After ’a·ḥă·rê לֶכְתָּ֗ם [the men] had gone , leḵ·tām וַֽיַּעֲלוּ֙ Ahimaaz and Jonathan climbed up way·ya·‘ă·lū מֵֽהַבְּאֵ֔ר out of the well mê·hab·bə·’êr וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ and went way·yê·lə·ḵū וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ to inform way·yag·gi·ḏū לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ King lam·me·leḵ דָּוִ֑ד David , dā·wiḏ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ saying way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ - ’el- דָּוִ֗ד - , dā·wiḏ ק֣וּמוּ “ Get up qū·mū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְעִבְר֤וּ and cross over wə·‘iḇ·rū הַמַּ֔יִם the river ham·ma·yim מְהֵרָה֙ at once , mə·hê·rāh כִּי־ for kî- אֲחִיתֹֽפֶל׃ Ahithophel ’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el כָ֛כָה has given this ḵā·ḵāh יָעַ֥ץ advice yā·‘aṣ עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם against you . ” ‘ă·lê·ḵem 2 Samuel 17:22 דָּוִ֗ד So David dā·wiḏ וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הָעָם֙ the people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁ֣ר ’ă·šer אִתּ֔וֹ with him ’it·tōw וַיָּ֣קָם got up way·yā·qām וַיַּעַבְר֖וּ and crossed way·ya·‘aḇ·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן the Jordan . hay·yar·dên עַד־ By ‘aḏ- א֣וֹר daybreak ’ō·wr הַבֹּ֗קֶר . . . , hab·bō·qer עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- לֹ֣א there was no lō אַחַד֙ one ’a·ḥaḏ נֶעְדָּ֔ר left ne‘·dār אֲשֶׁ֥ר who ’ă·šer לֹא־ had not lō- עָבַ֖ר crossed ‘ā·ḇar אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ the Jordan . hay·yar·dên 2 Samuel 17:23 וַאֲחִיתֹ֣פֶל When Ahithophel wa·’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el רָאָ֗ה saw rā·’āh כִּ֣י that kî עֲצָתוֹ֒ his advice ‘ă·ṣā·ṯōw לֹ֣א had not lō נֶעֶשְׂתָה֮ been followed , ne·‘eś·ṯāh וַיַּחֲבֹ֣שׁ he saddled way·ya·ḥă·ḇōš אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- הַחֲמ֗וֹר his donkey ha·ḥă·mō·wr וַיָּ֜קָם and set out way·yā·qām וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ . . . way·yê·leḵ אֶל־ for ’el- בֵּיתוֹ֙ his house bê·ṯōw אֶל־ in ’el- עִיר֔וֹ his hometown . ‘î·rōw אֶל־ He put his affairs ’el- בֵּית֖וֹ . . . bê·ṯōw וַיְצַ֥ו in order way·ṣaw וַיֵּחָנַ֑ק and hanged himself . way·yê·ḥā·naq וַיָּ֕מָת So he died way·yā·māṯ וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר and was buried way·yiq·qā·ḇêr אָבִֽיו׃ס in his father’s ’ā·ḇîw בְּקֶ֥בֶר tomb . bə·qe·ḇer
