כָּזֹ֣את “ This is what kā·zōṯ וְכָזֹ֗את . . . wə·ḵā·zōṯ אֲחִיתֹ֙פֶל֙ Ahithophel ’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָעַ֤ץ has advised yā·‘aṣ אַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם Absalom ’aḇ·šā·lōm וְאֵ֖ת - wə·’êṯ זִקְנֵ֣י and the elders ziq·nê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl וְכָזֹ֥את and this is what wə·ḵā·zōṯ וְכָזֹ֖את . . . wə·ḵā·zōṯ אָֽנִי׃ I ’ā·nî יָעַ֥צְתִּי have advised . yā·‘aṣ·tî 2 Samuel 17:16 וְעַתָּ֡ה Now wə·‘at·tāh שִׁלְח֣וּ send šil·ḥū מְהֵרָה֩ quickly mə·hê·rāh וְהַגִּ֨ידוּ and tell wə·hag·gî·ḏū לְדָוִ֜ד David lə·ḏā·wiḏ לֵאמֹ֗ר . . . , lê·mōr אַל־ ‘ Do not ’al- תָּ֤לֶן spend tā·len הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙ the night hal·lay·lāh בְּעַֽרְב֣וֹת at the fords bə·‘ar·ḇō·wṯ הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר of the wilderness , ham·miḏ·bār וְגַ֖ם but wə·ḡam עָב֣וֹר be sure to cross over ‘ā·ḇō·wr תַּעֲב֑וֹר . . . . ta·‘ă·ḇō·wr פֶּ֚ן Otherwise pen לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king lam·me·leḵ וּלְכָל־ and all ū·lə·ḵāl- הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer אִתּֽוֹ׃ with him ’it·tōw יְבֻלַּ֣ע will be swallowed up . ’” yə·ḇul·la‘ 2 Samuel 17:17 וִיהוֹנָתָ֨ן Now Jonathan wî·hō·w·nā·ṯān וַאֲחִימַ֜עַץ and Ahimaaz wa·’ă·ḥî·ma·‘aṣ עֹמְדִ֣ים were staying ‘ō·mə·ḏîm בְּעֵין־ at bə·‘ên- רֹגֵ֗ל En-rogel , rō·ḡêl הַשִּׁפְחָה֙ where a servant girl haš·šip̄·ḥāh וְהָלְכָ֤ה would come wə·hā·lə·ḵāh וְהִגִּ֣ידָה and pass along information wə·hig·gî·ḏāh לָהֶ֔ם to them . lā·hem וְהֵם֙ They wə·hêm יֵֽלְכ֔וּ in turn would go yê·lə·ḵū וְהִגִּ֖ידוּ and inform wə·hig·gî·ḏū לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ King lam·me·leḵ דָּוִ֑ד David , dā·wiḏ כִּ֣י for kî יוּכְל֛וּ they dared yū·ḵə·lū לֹ֥א not lō לְהֵרָא֖וֹת be seen lə·hê·rā·’ō·wṯ לָב֥וֹא entering lā·ḇō·w הָעִֽירָה׃ the city . hā·‘î·rāh 2 Samuel 17:18 נַ֔עַר But a young man na·‘ar וַיַּ֤רְא did see way·yar אֹתָם֙ them ’ō·ṯām וַיַּגֵּ֖ד and told way·yag·gêḏ לְאַבְשָׁלֹ֑ם Absalom . lə·’aḇ·šā·lōm שְׁנֵיהֶ֨ם So the two šə·nê·hem וַיֵּלְכוּ֩ left way·yê·lə·ḵū מְהֵרָ֜ה quickly mə·hê·rāh וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ׀ and came way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- בֵּֽית־ the house bêṯ- אִ֣ישׁ of a man ’îš בְּבַחוּרִ֗ים in Bahurim . bə·ḇa·ḥū·rîm וְל֥וֹ He had wə·lōw בְאֵ֛ר a well ḇə·’êr בַּחֲצֵר֖וֹ in his courtyard , ba·ḥă·ṣê·rōw וַיֵּ֥רְדוּ and they climbed down way·yê·rə·ḏū שָֽׁם׃ into it . šām 2 Samuel 17:19 הָאִשָּׁ֗ה Then [the man’s] wife hā·’iš·šāh וַתִּקַּ֣ח took wat·tiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמָּסָךְ֙ a covering ham·mā·sāḵ וַתִּפְרֹ֤שׂ and spread wat·tip̄·rōś עַל־ it over ‘al- פְּנֵ֣י the mouth pə·nê הַבְּאֵ֔ר of the well , hab·bə·’êr וַתִּשְׁטַ֥ח scattering wat·tiš·ṭaḥ הָֽרִפ֑וֹת grain hā·ri·p̄ō·wṯ עָלָ֖יו over it ‘ā·lāw וְלֹ֥א so nobody wə·lō נוֹדַ֖ע would know nō·w·ḏa‘ דָּבָֽר׃ a thing . dā·ḇār
