2 Samuel 14:10 הַֽמְדַבֵּ֤ר “ If anyone speaks ham·ḏab·bêr אֵלַ֙יִךְ֙ to you , ” ’ê·la·yiḵ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר said way·yō·mer הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king , ham·me·leḵ וַֽהֲבֵאת֣וֹ “ bring him wa·hă·ḇê·ṯōw אֵלַ֔י to me , ’ê·lay וְלֹֽא־ and he will not wə·lō- לָגַ֥עַת trouble lā·ḡa·‘aṯ בָּֽךְ׃ you bāḵ יֹסִ֥יף again yō·sîp̄ ע֖וֹד . . . ! ” ‘ō·wḏ 2 Samuel 14:11 נָ֨א “ Please , ” nā וַתֹּאמֶר֩ she replied , wat·tō·mer הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ “ may the king ham·me·leḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִזְכָּר־ invoke yiz·kār- יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā גֹּאֵ֤ל to prevent the avenger gō·’êl הַדָּם֙ of blood had·dām מֵהַרְבִּית from increasing mē·har·bīṯ לְשַׁחֵ֔ת the devastation , lə·ša·ḥêṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנִ֑י so that my son bə·nî וְלֹ֥א may not wə·lō יַשְׁמִ֖ידוּ be destroyed ! ” yaš·mî·ḏū יְהוָ֔ה “ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives , ” ḥay- וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ he vowed , way·yō·mer אִם־ “ not ’im- מִשַּׂעֲרַ֥ת a hair miś·śa·‘ă·raṯ בְּנֵ֖ךְ of your son’s head bə·nêḵ יִפֹּ֛ל will fall yip·pōl אָֽרְצָה׃ to the ground . ” ’ā·rə·ṣāh 2 Samuel 14:12 הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה Then the woman hā·’iš·šāh וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ said , wat·tō·mer נָ֧א “ Please , nā שִׁפְחָתְךָ֛ may your servant šip̄·ḥā·ṯə·ḵā תְּדַבֶּר־ speak tə·ḏab·ber- דָּבָ֑ר a word dā·ḇār אֶל־ to ’el- אֲדֹנִ֥י my lord ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king ? ” ham·me·leḵ דַּבֵּֽרִי׃ס “ Speak , ” dab·bê·rî וַיֹּ֖אמֶר he replied . way·yō·mer 2 Samuel 14:13 הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה The woman hā·’iš·šāh וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ asked , wat·tō·mer וְלָ֧מָּה “ Why wə·lām·māh חָשַׁ֛בְתָּה have you devised ḥā·šaḇ·tāh כָּזֹ֖את a thing like this kā·zōṯ עַל־ against ‘al- עַ֣ם the people ‘am אֱלֹהִ֑ים of God ? ’ĕ·lō·hîm הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ When the king ham·me·leḵ וּמִדַּבֵּ֨ר says ū·mid·dab·bêr הַזֶּה֙ this haz·zeh הַדָּבָ֤ר . . . , had·dā·ḇār כְּאָשֵׁ֔ם does he not convict himself , kə·’ā·šêm הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ since [he] ham·me·leḵ אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- לְבִלְתִּ֛י has not lə·ḇil·tî הָשִׁ֥יב brought back hā·šîḇ נִדְּחֽוֹ׃ his own banished [son] ? nid·də·ḥōw 2 Samuel 14:14 כִּי־ For kî- מ֣וֹת surely mō·wṯ נָמ֔וּת we will die nā·mūṯ וְכַמַּ֙יִם֙ and be like water wə·ḵam·ma·yim הַנִּגָּרִ֣ים poured out han·nig·gā·rîm אַ֔רְצָה on the ground , ’ar·ṣāh אֲשֶׁ֖ר which ’ă·šer לֹ֣א cannot lō יֵאָסֵ֑פוּ be recovered . yê·’ā·sê·p̄ū אֱלֹהִים֙ Yet God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וְלֹֽא־ does not wə·lō- יִשָּׂ֤א take away yiś·śā נֶ֔פֶשׁ a life ; ne·p̄eš וְחָשַׁב֙ but He devises wə·ḥā·šaḇ מַֽחֲשָׁב֔וֹת ways ma·ḥă·šā·ḇō·wṯ יִדַּ֥ח that the banished one yid·daḥ לְבִלְתִּ֛י may not lə·ḇil·tî נִדָּֽח׃ be cast out nid·dāḥ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ from Him . mim·men·nū 2 Samuel 14:15 וְ֠עַתָּה Now therefore , wə·‘at·tāh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer-
