2 Samuel 12:29 דָּוִ֛ד So David dā·wiḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף assembled way·ye·’ĕ·sōp̄ כָּל־ all kāl- הָעָ֖ם the troops hā·‘ām וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ and went way·yê·leḵ רַבָּ֑תָה to Rabbah ; rab·bā·ṯāh וַיִּלָּ֥חֶם and he fought way·yil·lā·ḥem בָּ֖הּ against it bāh וַֽיִּלְכְּדָֽהּ׃ and captured it . way·yil·kə·ḏāh 2 Samuel 12:30 וַיִּקַּ֣ח Then he took way·yiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲטֶֽרֶת־ the crown ‘ă·ṭe·reṯ- מֵעַ֨ל from mê·‘al רֹאשׁ֜וֹ the head rō·šōw מַלְכָּם֩ of their king . mal·kām וּמִשְׁקָלָ֨הּ It weighed ū·miš·qā·lāh כִּכַּ֤ר a talent kik·kar זָהָב֙ of gold zā·hāḇ יְקָרָ֔ה and was set with precious yə·qā·rāh וְאֶ֣בֶן stones , wə·’e·ḇen וַתְּהִ֖י and it was wat·tə·hî עַל־ placed on ‘al- דָּוִ֑ד David’s dā·wiḏ רֹ֣אשׁ head . rōš הוֹצִ֖יא And David took hō·w·ṣî הַרְבֵּ֥ה a great amount har·bêh מְאֹֽד׃ . . . mə·’ōḏ וּשְׁלַ֥ל of plunder ū·šə·lal הָעִ֛יר from the city . hā·‘îr 2 Samuel 12:31 וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הוֹצִ֗יא [David] brought out hō·w·ṣî הָעָ֨ם the people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ who [were] ’ă·šer- בָּ֜הּ there bāh וַיָּ֣שֶׂם and put [them to work] way·yā·śem בַּ֠מְּגֵרָה with saws , bam·mə·ḡê·rāh הַבַּרְזֶ֜ל iron hab·bar·zel וּבַחֲרִצֵ֨י picks , ū·ḇa·ḥă·ri·ṣê וּֽבְמַגְזְרֹ֣ת and axes ū·ḇə·maḡ·zə·rōṯ הַבַּרְזֶ֗ל - , hab·bar·zel וְהֶעֱבִ֤יר and he made them work wə·he·‘ĕ·ḇîr אוֹתָם֙ - ’ō·w·ṯām בַּמַּלְכֶּן at the brick kilns . bam·mal·kɛn יַעֲשֶׂ֔ה He did ya·‘ă·śeh וְכֵ֣ן the same wə·ḵên לְכֹ֖ל to all lə·ḵōl בְנֵֽי־ the Ammonite ḇə·nê- עַמּ֑וֹן . . . ‘am·mō·wn עָרֵ֣י cities . ‘ā·rê דָּוִ֛ד Then [David] dā·wiḏ וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הָעָ֖ם his troops hā·‘ām וַיָּ֧שָׁב returned way·yā·šāḇ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃פ to Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim 2 Samuel 13:1 וַיְהִ֣י After some time way·hî אַֽחֲרֵי־ . . . ’a·ḥă·rê- כֵ֗ן . . . , ḵên דָּוִֽד׃ David’s dā·wiḏ בֶּן־ son ben- אַמְנ֥וֹן Amnon ’am·nō·wn וַיֶּאֱהָבֶ֖הָ fell in love way·ye·’ĕ·hā·ḇe·hā תָּמָ֑ר with Tamar , tā·mār יָפָ֖ה the beautiful yā·p̄āh אָח֥וֹת sister ’ā·ḥō·wṯ וּשְׁמָ֣הּ - ū·šə·māh דָּוִ֛ד of David’s dā·wiḏ בֶּן־ son ben- וּלְאַבְשָׁל֧וֹם Absalom . ū·lə·’aḇ·šā·lō·wm 2 Samuel 13:2 לְאַמְנ֜וֹן Amnon lə·’am·nō·wn לְהִתְחַלּ֗וֹת was sick lə·hiṯ·ḥal·lō·wṯ וַיֵּ֨צֶר with frustration way·yê·ṣer בַּֽעֲבוּר֙ over ba·‘ă·ḇūr אֲחֹת֔וֹ his sister ’ă·ḥō·ṯōw תָּמָ֣ר Tamar , tā·mār כִּ֥י for kî הִ֑יא she hî בְתוּלָ֖ה was a virgin , ḇə·ṯū·lāh בְּעֵינֵ֣י and it seemed bə·‘ê·nê וַיִּפָּלֵא֙ implausible way·yip·pā·lê אַמְנ֔וֹן for [him] ’am·nō·wn לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת to do la·‘ă·śō·wṯ מְאֽוּמָה׃ anything mə·’ū·māh לָ֖הּ to her . lāh
