אֶל־ - ’el- אוּרִיָּ֗ה Uriah . ’ū·rî·yāh מַדּ֖וּעַ “ Why mad·dū·a‘ לֹֽא־ didn’t you lō- יָרַ֥דְתָּ go yā·raḏ·tā אֶל־ . . . ’el- בֵּיתֶֽךָ׃ home ? ” bê·ṯe·ḵā 2 Samuel 11:11 אוּרִיָּ֜ה Uriah ’ū·rî·yāh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר answered way·yō·mer אֶל־ - ’el- דָּוִ֗ד - , dā·wiḏ הָ֠אָרוֹן “ The ark hā·’ā·rō·wn וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל and Israel wə·yiś·rā·’êl וִֽיהוּדָ֜ה and Judah wî·hū·ḏāh יֹשְׁבִ֣ים are dwelling yō·šə·ḇîm בַּסֻּכּ֗וֹת in tents , bas·suk·kō·wṯ וַאדֹנִ֨י and my master wa·ḏō·nî יוֹאָ֜ב Joab yō·w·’āḇ אֲדֹנִ֨י and his ’ă·ḏō·nî וְעַבְדֵ֤י soldiers wə·‘aḇ·ḏê חֹנִ֔ים are camped ḥō·nîm עַל־ in ‘al- פְּנֵ֤י the open field pə·nê הַשָּׂדֶה֙ . . . . haś·śā·ḏeh וַאֲנִ֞י How can I wa·’ă·nî אָב֧וֹא go ’ā·ḇō·w אֶל־ to ’el- בֵּיתִ֛י my house bê·ṯî לֶאֱכֹ֥ל to eat le·’ĕ·ḵōl וְלִשְׁתּ֖וֹת and drink wə·liš·tō·wṯ וְלִשְׁכַּ֣ב and sleep wə·liš·kaḇ עִם־ with ‘im- אִשְׁתִּ֑י my wife ? ’iš·tî חַיֶּ֙ךָ֙ As surely as you live , ḥay·ye·ḵā נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ and [as] your soul nap̄·še·ḵā וְחֵ֣י lives , wə·ḥê אִֽם־ I will not ’im- אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה do ’e·‘ĕ·śeh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַדָּבָ֥ר such a thing had·dā·ḇār הַזֶּֽה׃ . . . ! ” haz·zeh 2 Samuel 11:12 שֵׁ֥ב “ Stay šêḇ בָּזֶ֛ה here bā·zeh הַיּ֖וֹם one more day hay·yō·wm גַּם־ . . . , ” gam- דָּוִ֜ד David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- אוּרִיָּ֗ה Uriah , ’ū·rî·yāh וּמָחָ֣ר “ and tomorrow ū·mā·ḥār אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֑ךָּ I will send you back . ” ’ă·šal·lə·ḥe·kā אוּרִיָּ֧ה So Uriah ’ū·rî·yāh וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב stayed way·yê·šeḇ בִירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם in Jerusalem ḇî·rū·šā·lim הַה֖וּא that ha·hū בַּיּ֥וֹם day bay·yō·wm וּמִֽמָּחֳרָֽת׃ and the next . ū·mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ 2 Samuel 11:13 דָוִ֗ד Then David ḏā·wiḏ וַיִּקְרָא־ invited way·yiq·rā- ל֣וֹ [Uriah] lōw וַיֹּ֧אכַל to eat way·yō·ḵal וַיֵּ֖שְׁתְּ and drink way·yê·šət לְפָנָ֛יו with him , lə·p̄ā·nāw וַֽיְשַׁכְּרֵ֑הוּ and he got [Uriah] drunk . way·šak·kə·rê·hū בָעֶ֗רֶב And in the evening ḇā·‘e·reḇ וַיֵּצֵ֣א [Uriah] went out way·yê·ṣê לִשְׁכַּ֤ב to lie down liš·kaḇ בְּמִשְׁכָּבוֹ֙ on his cot bə·miš·kā·ḇōw עִם־ with ‘im- אֲדֹנָ֔יו his master’s ’ă·ḏō·nāw וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- עַבְדֵ֣י servants , ‘aḇ·ḏê לֹ֥א but he did not lō יָרָֽד׃ go yā·rāḏ בֵּית֖וֹ home . bê·ṯōw 2 Samuel 11:14 וַיְהִ֣י - way·hî בַבֹּ֔קֶר The next morning ḇab·bō·qer דָּוִ֛ד David dā·wiḏ וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב wrote way·yiḵ·tōḇ סֵ֖פֶר a letter sê·p̄er אֶל־ to ’el- יוֹאָ֑ב Joab yō·w·’āḇ וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח and sent way·yiš·laḥ בְּיַ֥ד . . . bə·yaḏ אוּרִיָּֽה׃ it with Uriah . ’ū·rî·yāh
