2 Samuel 8:13 דָּוִד֙ And David dā·wiḏ וַיַּ֤עַשׂ made way·ya·‘aś שֵׁ֔ם a name for himself šêm בְּשֻׁב֕וֹ when he returned bə·šu·ḇōw מֵהַכּוֹת֥וֹ from striking down mê·hak·kō·w·ṯōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמוֹנָ֥ה eighteen šə·mō·w·nāh עָשָׂ֖ר . . . ‘ā·śār אָֽלֶף׃ thousand ’ā·lep̄ אֲרָ֖ם Edomites ’ă·rām בְּגֵיא־ in the Valley of Salt . bə·ḡê- מֶ֑לַח . . . me·laḥ 2 Samuel 8:14 וַיָּ֨שֶׂם He placed way·yā·śem נְצִבִ֗ים garrisons nə·ṣi·ḇîm בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl בֶּאֱד֜וֹם Edom , be·’ĕ·ḏō·wm כָל־ and all ḵāl אֱד֖וֹם - ’ĕ·ḏō·wm אֱדוֹם֙ the Edomites ’ĕ·ḏō·wm שָׂ֣ם . . . śām נְצִבִ֔ים . . . nə·ṣi·ḇîm וַיְהִ֥י were way·hî עֲבָדִ֣ים subject ‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm לְדָוִ֑ד to David . lə·ḏā·wiḏ יְהוָה֙ So YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִ֔ד made David dā·wiḏ וַיּ֤וֹשַׁע victorious way·yō·wō·ša‘ בְּכֹ֖ל wherever bə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer הָלָֽךְ׃ he went . hā·lāḵ 2 Samuel 8:15 דָּוִ֖ד Thus David dā·wiḏ וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ reigned way·yim·lōḵ עַל־ over ‘al- כָּל־ all kāl- יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיְהִ֣י vvv way·hî דָוִ֗ד vvv ḏā·wiḏ עֹשֶׂ֛ה and administered ‘ō·śeh מִשְׁפָּ֥ט justice miš·pāṭ וּצְדָקָ֖ה and righteousness ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh לְכָל־ for all lə·ḵāl עַמּֽוֹ׃ his people : ‘am·mōw 2 Samuel 8:16 וְיוֹאָ֥ב Joab wə·yō·w·’āḇ בֶּן־ son ben- צְרוּיָ֖ה of Zeruiah ṣə·rū·yāh עַל־ was over ‘al- הַצָּבָ֑א the army ; haṣ·ṣā·ḇā וִיהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט Jehoshaphat wî·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ בֶּן־ son ben- אֲחִיל֖וּד of Ahilud ’ă·ḥî·lūḏ מַזְכִּֽיר׃ [was] the recorder ; maz·kîr 2 Samuel 8:17 וְצָד֧וֹק Zadok wə·ṣā·ḏō·wq בֶּן־ son ben- אֲחִיט֛וּב of Ahitub ’ă·ḥî·ṭūḇ וַאֲחִימֶ֥לֶךְ and Ahimelech wa·’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ בֶּן־ son ben- אֶבְיָתָ֖ר of Abiathar ’eḇ·yā·ṯār כֹּהֲנִ֑ים were priests ; kō·hă·nîm וּשְׂרָיָ֖ה Seraiah ū·śə·rā·yāh סוֹפֵֽר׃ was the scribe ; sō·w·p̄êr 2 Samuel 8:18 וּבְנָיָ֙הוּ֙ Benaiah ū·ḇə·nā·yā·hū בֶּן־ son ben- יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע of Jehoiada [was over] yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘ וְהַכְּרֵתִ֖י the Cherethites wə·hak·kə·rê·ṯî וְהַפְּלֵתִ֑י and Pelethites ; wə·hap·pə·lê·ṯî דָוִ֖ד and David’s ḏā·wiḏ וּבְנֵ֥י sons ū·ḇə·nê הָיֽוּ׃פ were hā·yū כֹּהֲנִ֥ים priestly leaders . kō·hă·nîm 2 Samuel 9:1 דָּוִ֔ד Then David dā·wiḏ הֲכִ֣י . . . hă·ḵî וַיֹּ֣אמֶר asked , way·yō·mer יֶשׁ־ “ Is there yeš- ע֔וֹד . . . ‘ō·wḏ אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer נוֹתַ֖ר anyone left nō·w·ṯar לְבֵ֣ית from the house lə·ḇêṯ שָׁא֑וּל of Saul šā·’ūl עִמּוֹ֙ to whom ‘im·mōw
