1 Samuel 25:22 אֱלֹהִ֛ים May God ’ĕ·lō·hîm כֹּה־ punish kōh- יַעֲשֶׂ֧ה . . . ya·‘ă·śeh דָוִ֖ד David ḏā·wiḏ לְאֹיְבֵ֥י - , lə·’ō·yə·ḇê וְכֹ֣ה and ever so wə·ḵōh יֹסִ֑יף severely , yō·sîp̄ אִם־ if {I let} ’im- מִכָּל־ one mik·kāl אֲשֶׁר־ of [Nabal’s] men ’ă·šer- ל֛וֹ . . . lōw אַשְׁאִ֧יר survive ’aš·’îr עַד־ until ‘aḏ- הַבֹּ֖קֶר morning hab·bō·qer מַשְׁתִּ֥ין - maš·tîn בְּקִֽיר׃ - .” bə·qîr 1 Samuel 25:23 אֲבִיגַ֙יִל֙ When Abigail ’ă·ḇî·ḡa·yil אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַתֵּ֤רֶא saw wat·tê·re דָּוִ֔ד David , dā·wiḏ וַתְּמַהֵ֕ר she quickly wat·tə·ma·hêr וַתֵּ֖רֶד got off wat·tê·reḏ מֵעַ֣ל vvv mê·‘al הַחֲמ֑וֹר the donkey , ha·ḥă·mō·wr וַתִּפֹּ֞ל fell wat·tip·pōl עַל־ . . . ‘al- פָּנֶ֔יהָ facedown , pā·ne·hā וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ and bowed wat·tiš·ta·ḥū אָֽרֶץ׃ . . . ’ā·reṣ לְאַפֵּ֤י before lə·’ap·pê דָוִד֙ him . ḏā·wiḏ 1 Samuel 25:24 וַתִּפֹּל֙ She fell wat·tip·pōl עַל־ at ‘al- רַגְלָ֔יו his feet raḡ·lāw וַתֹּ֕אמֶר and said , wat·tō·mer אֲדֹנִ֖י “ My lord , ’ă·ḏō·nî הֶֽעָוֺ֑ן may the blame be he·‘ā·wōn בִּי־ on me alone bî- אֲנִ֥י . . . , ’ă·nî נָ֤א but please nā אֲמָֽתְךָ֙ let your servant ’ă·mā·ṯə·ḵā וּֽתְדַבֶּר־ speak ū·ṯə·ḏab·ber- בְּאָזְנֶ֔יךָ to you ; bə·’ā·zə·ne·ḵā וּשְׁמַ֕ע hear ū·šə·ma‘ אֵ֖ת - ’êṯ דִּבְרֵ֥י the words diḇ·rê אֲמָתֶֽךָ׃ of your servant . ’ă·mā·ṯe·ḵā 1 Samuel 25:25 אֲדֹנִ֣י׀ My lord ’ă·ḏō·nî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַל־ should pay no ’al- נָ֣א . . . nā יָשִׂ֣ים attention yā·śîm לִבּ֡וֹ . . . lib·bōw אֶל־ to ’el- הַזֶּ֜ה this haz·zeh עַל־ . . . ‘al- הַבְּלִיַּ֨עַל scoundrel hab·bə·lî·ya·‘al אִישׁ֩ . . . ’îš נָבָ֗ל Nabal , nā·ḇāl כִּ֤י for kî ה֔וּא he hū כִשְׁמוֹ֙ lives up to his name : ḵiš·mōw כֶּן־ . . . ken- שְׁמ֔וֹ His name šə·mōw נָבָ֣ל means Fool , nā·ḇāl וּנְבָלָ֖ה and folly ū·nə·ḇā·lāh עִמּ֑וֹ accompanies him . ‘im·mōw וַֽאֲנִי֙ I , wa·’ă·nî אֲמָ֣תְךָ֔ your servant , ’ă·mā·ṯə·ḵā לֹ֥א did not lō רָאִ֛יתִי see rā·’î·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲדֹנִ֖י my lord’s ’ă·ḏō·nî נַעֲרֵ֥י young men na·‘ă·rê אֲשֶׁ֥ר whom ’ă·šer שָׁלָֽחְתָּ׃ you sent . šā·lā·ḥə·tā 1 Samuel 25:26 וְעַתָּ֣ה Now , wə·‘at·tāh אֲדֹנִ֗י my lord , ’ă·ḏō·nî יְהוָ֤ה as surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives ḥay- נַפְשְׁךָ֙ and you nap̄·šə·ḵā אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer וְחֵֽי־ yourself live , wə·ḥê- יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh מְנָעֲךָ֤ has held you back mə·nā·‘ă·ḵā
