1 Samuel 14:51 שָׁא֛וּל Saul’s šā·’ūl אֲבִֽי־ father ’ă·ḇî- וְקִ֧ישׁ Kish wə·qîš אַבְנֵ֖ר and Abner’s ’aḇ·nêr אֲבִֽי־ father ’ă·ḇî- וְנֵ֥ר Ner wə·nêr בֶּן־ were sons ben- אֲבִיאֵֽל׃ס of Abiel . ’ă·ḇî·’êl 1 Samuel 14:52 הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ And the war ham·mil·ḥā·māh עַל־ with ‘al- פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים the Philistines pə·liš·tîm וַתְּהִ֤י was wat·tə·hî חֲזָקָ֣ה fierce ḥă·zā·qāh כֹּ֖ל for all kōl יְמֵ֣י the days yə·mê שָׁא֑וּל of Saul . šā·’ūl שָׁא֜וּל So whenever [he] šā·’ūl וְרָאָ֨ה noticed wə·rā·’āh כָּל־ any kāl- אִ֤ישׁ . . . ’îš גִּבּוֹר֙ strong gib·bō·wr וְכָל־ . . . wə·ḵāl חַ֔יִל or brave ḥa·yil אֵלָֽיו׃ס . . . ’ê·lāw בֶּן־ man , ben- וַיַּאַסְפֵ֖הוּ [Saul] would enlist him . way·ya·’as·p̄ê·hū 1 Samuel 15:1 שְׁמוּאֵל֙ Then Samuel šə·mū·’êl וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- שָׁא֔וּל Saul , šā·’ūl יְהוָה֙ “ YHWH Yah·weh שָׁלַ֤ח sent šā·laḥ אֹתִ֨י me ’ō·ṯî לִמְשָׁחֳךָ֣ to anoint you lim·šā·ḥo·ḵā לְמֶ֔לֶךְ king lə·me·leḵ עַל־ over ‘al- עַמּ֖וֹ His people ‘am·mōw עַל־ . . . ‘al- יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel . yiś·rā·’êl וְעַתָּ֣ה Now therefore , wə·‘at·tāh שְׁמַ֔ע listen šə·ma‘ לְק֖וֹל . . . lə·qō·wl דִּבְרֵ֥י to the words diḇ·rê יְהוָֽה׃ס of YHWH . Yah·weh 1 Samuel 15:2 כֹּ֤ה This is what kōh יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh צְבָא֔וֹת of Hosts ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ אָמַר֙ says : ’ā·mar פָּקַ֕דְתִּי ‘ I witnessed pā·qaḏ·tî אֵ֛ת - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁר־ what ’ă·šer- עֲמָלֵ֖ק the Amalekites ‘ă·mā·lêq עָשָׂ֥ה did ‘ā·śāh לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל to the Israelites lə·yiś·rā·’êl אֲשֶׁר־ when ’ă·šer- שָׂ֥ם they ambushed śām לוֹ֙ them lōw בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ on their way bad·de·reḵ בַּעֲלֹת֖וֹ up ba·‘ă·lō·ṯōw מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ from Egypt . mim·miṣ·rā·yim 1 Samuel 15:3 עַתָּה֩ Now ‘at·tāh לֵ֨ךְ go lêḵ וְהִכִּֽיתָ֜ה and attack wə·hik·kî·ṯāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲמָלֵ֗ק the Amalekites ‘ă·mā·lêq וְהַֽחֲרַמְתֶּם֙ and devote to destruction wə·ha·ḥă·ram·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- ל֔וֹ belongs to them . lōw וְלֹ֥א Do not wə·lō תַחְמֹ֖ל spare ṯaḥ·mōl עָלָ֑יו them , ‘ā·lāw וְהֵמַתָּ֞ה but put to death wə·hê·mat·tāh מֵאִ֣ישׁ men mê·’îš עַד־ and ‘aḏ- אִשָּׁ֗ה women , ’iš·šāh מֵֽעֹלֵל֙ children mê·‘ō·lêl וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- יוֹנֵ֔ק infants , yō·w·nêq מִשּׁ֣וֹר oxen miš·šō·wr וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- שֶׂ֔ה sheep , śeh מִגָּמָ֖ל camels mig·gā·māl וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- חֲמֽוֹר׃ס donkeys . ’” ḥă·mō·wr
