וְלֹ֥א and will not wə·lō נַעֲלֶ֖ה go up na·‘ă·leh אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ to them . ’ă·lê·hem 1 Samuel 14:10 וְאִם־ But if wə·’im- כֹּ֨ה . . . kōh יֹאמְר֜וּ they say , yō·mə·rū עֲל֤וּ ‘ Come on up , ’ ‘ă·lū עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ . . . ‘ā·lê·nū וְעָלִ֔ינוּ then we will go up , wə·‘ā·lî·nū כִּֽי־ because kî- וְזֶה־ this wə·zeh- לָּ֖נוּ vvv lā·nū הָאֽוֹת׃ will be our sign hā·’ō·wṯ יְהוָ֖ה that YHWH Yah·weh נְתָנָ֥ם has delivered them nə·ṯā·nām בְּיָדֵ֑נוּ into our hands .” bə·yā·ḏê·nū 1 Samuel 14:11 שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם So the two of them šə·nê·hem וַיִּגָּל֣וּ showed themselves way·yig·gā·lū אֶל־ to ’el- מַצַּ֖ב the outpost maṣ·ṣaḇ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים of the Philistines , pə·liš·tîm פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים [who] p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ exclaimed , way·yō·mə·rū הִנֵּ֤ה “ Look , hin·nêh עִבְרִים֙ the Hebrews ‘iḇ·rîm יֹֽצְאִ֔ים are coming out yō·ṣə·’îm מִן־ of min- הַחֹרִ֖ים the holes ha·ḥō·rîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר in which ’ă·šer הִתְחַבְּאוּ־ they were hiding !” hiṯ·ḥab·bə·’ū- שָֽׁם׃ . . . šām 1 Samuel 14:12 אַנְשֵׁ֨י So the men ’an·šê הַמַּצָּבָ֜ה of the outpost ham·maṣ·ṣā·ḇāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּעֲנוּ֩ called out way·ya·‘ă·nū יוֹנָתָ֣ן׀ to Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- נֹשֵׂ֣א and his armor-bearer nō·śê כֵלָ֗יו . . . ḵê·lāw וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ - , way·yō·mə·rū עֲל֣וּ “ Come on up , ‘ă·lū אֵלֵ֔ינוּ . . . ’ê·lê·nū וְנוֹדִ֥יעָה and we will teach wə·nō·w·ḏî·‘āh אֶתְכֶ֖ם - ’eṯ·ḵem דָּבָ֑ר פ you a lesson ! ” då̄·ḇå̄r p̄ עֲלֵ֣ה “ Follow ‘ă·lêh אַחֲרַ֔י me , ” ’a·ḥă·ray יוֹנָתָ֜ן Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיֹּ֨אמֶר told way·yō·mer נֹשֵׂ֤א his armor-bearer nō·śê כֵלָיו֙ . . . , ḵê·lāw כִּֽי־ “ for kî- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh נְתָנָ֥ם has delivered them nə·ṯā·nām בְּיַ֥ד into the hand bə·yaḏ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel .” yiś·rā·’êl 1 Samuel 14:13 יוֹנָתָ֗ן So Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān עַל־ . . . ‘al- וַיַּ֣עַל climbed up way·ya·‘al יָדָיו֙ on his hands yā·ḏāw וְעַל־ . . . wə·‘al- רַגְלָ֔יו and feet , raḡ·lāw וְנֹשֵׂ֥א with his armor-bearer wə·nō·śê כֵלָ֖יו . . . ḵê·lāw אַחֲרָ֑יו behind him . ’a·ḥă·rāw וַֽיִּפְּלוּ֙ And [the Philistines] fell way·yip·pə·lū לִפְנֵ֣י before lip̄·nê יוֹנָתָ֔ן Jonathan , yō·w·nā·ṯān וְנֹשֵׂ֥א and his armor-bearer wə·nō·śê כֵלָ֖יו . . . ḵê·lāw אַחֲרָֽיו׃ followed ’a·ḥă·rāw מְמוֹתֵ֥ת and finished them off . mə·mō·w·ṯêṯ 1 Samuel 14:14 וַתְּהִ֞י - wat·tə·hî הָרִאשֹׁנָ֗ה In that first hā·ri·šō·nāh אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer הַמַּכָּ֣ה assault , ham·mak·kāh יוֹנָתָ֛ן Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān וְנֹשֵׂ֥א and his armor-bearer wə·nō·śê כֵלָ֖יו . . . ḵê·lāw הִכָּ֧ה struck down hik·kāh כְּעֶשְׂרִ֣ים about twenty kə·‘eś·rîm אִ֑ישׁ men ’îš כְּבַחֲצִ֥י over half kə·ḇa·ḥă·ṣî מַעֲנָ֖ה an acre ma·‘ă·nāh
